The ending lyrics “I feel like a fuck up / I feel like a failure / But at least it’s not every day / And I am getting better” kills me every time. And this album is a masterclass in breakdown callouts. 10/10
This is probably gonna stick as my AOTY. That said, my only critique is the relative lack of those spoken-word verses/pre-breakdowns I had fell in love with on previous albums! There's a little on "Face the Blade" but I would have appreciated more. It always goes hard af.
This album is near perfect. I had decently high expectations and it somehow completely surpassed them. The singles are actually some of the weaker tracks here and that's saying something. Listening to this in the gym is a therapeutic experience.
This album is a 10/10 again for boundaries. I dont forsee anyone beating this but there a couple bands releasing this year that could such as Knocked Loose, Kublai Khan, Full of Hell or SeeYouSpaceCowboy. It's a crazy good year so far. That Underneath record was still very good too, a close second for me still
@@dravenripley9468Well it's a matter of taste for sure. I Let It In And It Took Everything was really a genre-defining album that affected the modern metal scene tbh, impact was huge so and hype for upcoming stuff is huge. I'm pretty sure that even Boundaries have been inspired with some Loathe because some parts of that album have that similar disgusting good vibe. (no grunge/shoegaze/nu metal vibe tho), more of a classic metalcore with hardcore-leaning style but in a modern shape with black metal elements.
The first half of this album is unhinged. The final breakdown on Turning Hate to Rage has one of the hardest callouts of recent memory followed by a disgusting hi hat breakdown. Then Darkness Shared with that incredible singing section in the middle and the transition into Like Petals From A Stem. Then the super high cleans on the chorus of Easily Erased and then the final breakdown with the slowdown in the middle of it. Then the chill section at the end of Cursed to Remember. And the breakdown with the riff in the background in the middle of the title track. I could go on forever about how perfect this album is. Currently one of my favorite albums of the year but there are some very strong contenders in the next few months with ERRA, Imminence, Like Moths To Flames, and Knocked Loose. 9.5/10 Edit: I also forgot to mention how beautiful and perfect that Marcus feature is. He has been killing it on the features lately.
My AOTY So Far This Year, This Entire Album Should Be In Try Not To Headbang at this point Cause It made me Headbang So Much It Physically Broke My Neck
Had a chance to see them live, met the lead vocalist and the band was nice enough to sign my vinyl of their new album. They put on an amazing show to say the least.
Just saw them last week in Brooklyn. Walked into the venue and 5 minutes later Matt just walked in and i started fangirling like the grown ass man I am and took a picture with him. Nicest fucking dude, and they put on my favorite performance i’ve ever seen
This album blew me away honestly, I was not a fan of Burying Brightness at all and I thought YRW was a solid album, but nothing mind blowing, I was really hoping that Matt would do a bit more vocally because while I thought he was good in the past, I wanted a little bit more variety, but goddamn they all delivered and this is one of the biggest steps up from a band that I have seen in a long time
This album is so insane. I literally don't have words. It just slaps you around with no fucks given 🤘🔥🖤 thanks for sharing this experience with us Bogdan, this one is very special!
the first breakdown in Inhale The Grief should be illegal... the nostalgia of that type of brealdowns hits home... a masterpiece and a masterclass to how to do metalcore right! AOTY for me, easily! "I feel like a fuck up I feel like a failure But there are reasons for everything And im still getting better"
I've been on Boundaries since 2020's Your Receeding Warmth, which is a fantastic album and yet they somehow just keep putting out better stuff. Absolutely incredible and underrated band
These guys really do not miss. Not only do they bring back an old sound, but they crush it and make it heavier somehow. Every song is just an ass beater of an experience, and emotionally intense. The moshes for this band have to be wild
I agree with what you said Bogdan about having more clean melodic singing from the drummer on this album. Other then that the whole album is just breakdown city with some great features my favourite feature being Marcus from Invent Animate. Took some cool industrial sounding turns and nice instrumental twists sprinkled throughout. AOTY so far for me in 2024 looking forward to what Knocked Loose can deliver with their new album. Looking forward what April will bring us in metal! \m/
This album opens with some absolute fucking headkickers. It’s going to take me a while to fully absorb this album, it’s intense, full of moments. It feels like a classic, it feels relentless, until you get a chill bit, but they feel earned. I was listening to this first time on a wild rural back road blast, windows down… if I’d seen a cop I was getting cuffed. This will be hard to beat for my AOTY. This my kinda shit.
This is the first time i listened to Boundaries and it was not a disappointment. This is my current aoty, but with most likely be topped by Imminence in 2 weeks.
Dropped everything when I saw this video come through my feed. Boundaries and Silent Planet have been my favorite bands for a hot minute now and I got to see them both this past year. Worth every minute! Boundaries brings the feels every time 😢
Since it was my first album discovering them, Burying Brightness is probably going to forever be my favorite Boundaries album. I think this one lacks for me some of the “wow moments” of BB, like the ending of Your Own Murder and the secret track. But idk, I’ll have to give this one a couple hundred listens to find out 😉 Truth be told, I have a couple critiques after a few listens of the album. The vocals are too loud in the mix and kind of drown everything else out sometimes, especially the guitars. Don’t get me wrong, the vocals are godly, but sometimes my caveman brain wanna hear those chugs! Second, I think the album is a touch eclectic stylistically. I thought Burying Brightness, for me, was a touch more cohesive in terms of what I was hearing. This album jumps around between melodic metalcore, first wave metalcore, metallic hardcore, sometimes even within a single song, which feels a touch all over the place. And lastly, I think the album is kinda long, I would’ve been fine with 10 songs instead of 12. But even with all that, it’s still like a 9/10. Good job Boundaries, I love you
Listened to this maybe four times now since release and it just gets better and better. My AOTY 100%. I truly didn't think they could top Burying Brightness but here we are.
The variety in this album is so great. Any kind of metal fan will like different facets of each song. I think Cursed to Remember is my fav. The outro reminded me of Armor For Sleep which was a mad throwback.
Not usually my cup of tea, but this entire album was an absolute masterpiece start to finish. Easily AOTY frontrunner for now, I can only see Erra or maybe Knocked Loose topping this.
This far, Grayscale Season didnt disappointed at all, just as I expected, Boundaries did an AOTY again (weird they took my personal AOTY again, like in 2022, from GS). Only Erra left for me, but Im sure they'll be just as fine as always.
Love seeing not one negative comment on this album. I was not the biggest fan with their older stuff being a newer band. This album is aoty of not, possibly knocked loose when it’s released.
The chorus of Easily Erased was honestly annoying to me when the single came out. But when listening to this album I was looking forward to it so much, cause of how fking heavy the beginning of the album was haha. Love this album, feel like the only thing that can rival it this year will be Knocked Loose.
Yeah this wasn’t just an album. It was a deep, dark experience.
deep dark fantasies

I don’t think an album tops this for me this year. Absolutely incredible from start to finish
check ouy Frail Body’s Artificial Bouquet tho!!
@@winterfrost99 imma check that out rn
I wasn't all the way in on boundaries before, and this album took that personally. The lyrics are incredible. I want to just give the vocalist a hug.
An album that ppl will reference in yrs to come “got me through a lot”. And that doesn’t even consider the musicality of it, which is 🔥
it made me happy to see you enjoy this album as much i did haha
i’m with you on that one

Agree some single are weakest than any burying brightness, hartford county misery and your receding warmth.

Not a second of filler on this album. So much rage and emotion and the production is stellar. Hope they get recognition they deserve after this gem
This is Randy LaBoeuf- core / Dying Wish Symptoms Of Survival part 2
The new Wristmeetrazor too.
Actually the most satisfying production out there imo
My AOTY so far, Imminence or Knocked Loose might dethrone, we'll see
all great picks!

I never thought they would top Your Receding Warmth but they somehow cleared it by far
Transition from the first song to the second is immaculate
This is their best material by a long shot and 100% AOTY contender 🔥🔥🔥
this AOTY is still sending constant waves of goosebumps after listening to it my entire 8hr shift yesterday. absolute INSANO MODE

3 masterpiece albums in a row, this band is on an whole another level ❤
The riffs from Darkness Shared reminded me of As Blood Runs Black in 2006
It was giving me more As I lay Dying flavors but either way its peak OG 2000s riffing
