I have found rolling the tip of a toothpick in the small gaps has worked really well. Essentially the wood fibers pick up the dip like velcro and it just rolls onto the toothpick. Works great!
Looks great. I would love to do that to my car. Can I make a suggestion for the reveal at the end of your videos? How about a short before and after comparison?
See we need more people like you David. You credited him for the great work he put together but also suggested something that would help his viewership and the people watching. I used the same method in my personal life and love to see other people using it as well
I have a 2020 Mazda 6 and I blacked out the front trim, rear trim, and window surround chrome trim. It makes the car look WAY more understated and a little more sinister. I highly recommend this, but FOLLOW THE STEPS! I spent way more time cleaning and masking than actually spraying, but the end result was 100% worth it.
From diping car emblems in front of his garage, to dipin emblems in his garage, what a career path! 😀 Seriously tho, I love your product and everything you do! Keep up the good work!
I came across this video by accident. But I’m GLAD I did! I love it. This gave me hope for my vehicle. Lol! I did have a quick question for you. How long does this last on your vehicle? Will it scratch or peel after a couple of days or weeks? Thanks for sharing. Very well done.
As a NOVICE user who has used the product TWICE! FIRSTLY, love 😍 this product. Pro Tip 1: remove the tap around window and emblems while WET! If you wait till the dip dries the lines are HORRIBLE! Drap car w tape and drape first. THEN, come forward with the yellow/clean line tape. Remove the clean line tape while wet. If you like the look remove the tape n drape. If you missed a spot re tape withthe line tape. Remove while wet! check results. Tip 2: if you are doing your door handles DONT touch them for a couple days! The first time I did mine I left my car alone for a day. After 3 months, my drivers door handle had a bubble that burst. It's because I have to press my door handle With my thumb to open door. (Tesla). The second time I dipped I didn't use the handle for 3 days. Hope this helps. 💕
You are changing what we DIY'selfer can do and I thank you. Because of you guys we can take what used to be only done with window tint or some new wheels. Now it's something just as affordable and my whole car looks new and badass. Thanks Fonzie, Brad And everybody else at DYC that's helped make it possible!
No. when I did mine you want to lightly coat and let dry to tacky 10 minute or so and do another. I put 5-6 coats on mine. Has lasted 3 years so far just like the day I did it. I dont use automated cars washes though. Only hand pressure wash. The bristles on those auto ones will peel these after a while but some of them damn near take the factory paint off anyways. Autowashers = bad.
Sure this looks good against a black paint but I'd like to see how it compares on white, gray, blue and so forth. How long does this last? Does it require a polish, wax, sealer? If im having to redo this every year on my chrome delete im not interested
What about a long term review of wheels. Brake dust and outdoor elements always make plastidip look rough. What’s the best way to keep clean hyperdip rims and make sure they stay looking nice? Please put a long term review of Rims
This really turned out better looking than I had thought. My only question is how durable is this product? What happens when you first take a lug wrench on those lug nuts? You guys are very talented and I enjoy watching your programs
@@DuartJansen Powerwashingporn shouldn't affect it but yes, even if it was vinyl wrapped you still have to pay attention. For the lug nuts, that's a issue for sure. I watched you do the piano black on your 4Runner. It looked great. I would like to do that to my car but finances are really tight. I would like to tell you something random. When you look at your tires look for the yellow dot. It is supposed to be lined up with the valve stem for balance. If you don't it takes to much weights and you will run through tires quicker. I worked for a company called Parkhouse Tire.

Never put any spray paint on lug nuts or plasti dip, I hate this cause no matter what when a wheel gets taken off and on the lugs will scratch up no matter how careful you are.
Looks so much cleaner that the bulky overlays I have on. If you guys come out with a Metallic Gunmetal I may have to do this to mine. Thanks for another awesome video and welcome to the 4Runner family. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with on the fresh canvas!
Looks good. I've got a white 4Runner and painting the emblems black would just make it look like another "crowd" follower. Again, the product and finish look great.
Awesome I will do this on my Tundra. Question my Tundra is Midnight Black metallic body paint, I am thinking of Shadow black for the wheels and shadow black satin for the chrome around the grille, bulge and front and rear bumpers is that a good match or should I go with piano finish on chrome around grille and bumpers. Thanks I will do or badge too. Thanks
can you spray this product over wheels that are currently matte black plastidipped? Also how does repairing work with this new dip, can you use the methods of repair and respray as shown in your other video's?
Dumb question but what if you want to undo your plasti dip and go back to chrome emblems. Can you remove the plasti dip without reminisce of it being there?
Def. The wheels! Question. How long does it typically last if applied properly and how many cans would you think id need for a 2017 Nissan Armada Platinum if i were to do all chrome trim and the wheels? Thanks!

so 3-4 dust sprays and let it dry each spray then 6 wet coat total with 15-25 mins dry time for each wet coat and lastly 2 hour cure time before removing the excess?
Pretty cool. Those lug nuts gonna need a touch up each time they are used I assume? Would this stuff work on flat plastic cladding that is often used around wheel wells?
How do you get the dip to not rip off woth the emblems? I just followed all these instructions on my car and the film peeled along with the tape almost instantaneously.

Black emblems and trim.
The black trim for sure.
Black emblems, before it became an option everyone could get

I got a concern in the wheel nuts if you need to replace brake pads... or any repair the coating will be damage any video in how to repair those
So you coated the lug nuts, what happens to the finish on them when you remove the wheel?
I have my box of HyperDip Piano Black and plan on doing my wheels and emblems this week.
So? What’s the result?

So how does it hold up on the lug nuts? Do you have to redip every time you take a wheel off
Exactly what I was thinking. The lack of response is probably the answer
Of course it can possibly peel. Just get black lug nuts?

Can you do it to the chrome window rails too? My car has those too, and I wanna black those out as well.

yayyy
You should add a can of DipCoat Protective Spray to the kit... or at least make it an option on your site when purchasing this kit. Great vid!!!!
Funny how Fonzie just pulls the mess out of the excess like it's nothing but the rest of us are all like overly gentle and slow. Mad props

how often do you have to re-apply to the wheels in order to keep the piano black shiny finish?
How is the durability? I live in Vegas and the summer heat wreaks havoc on pretty much EVERYTHING! Will it bubble or peel in 1000 degree weather?
Which looks better hyperdip shadow black or hyperdip piano black?
How is the dip when you put tire shine on the wheels. Does it come off the rims or does it mess up the paint?
Just got my kit. Before I do my emblems I wanted to ask how the dip stays on the them in high temperature weather (115° F or higher)
Wonder how long those wheels will last if they peel so easily.
I find so many hints & tips in your vids man. Thanks for sharing so much detail, it’s a great help and I’ve learned so much.
Does it last against pressure watering??
how tough if is the product I leave very rural lots of gravel roads, snow and overall rough roads just wondering if the rims would hold up?
If you have to change a tire, how does this hold up? I'm guessing the lug nuts would have to be redone at least.
I can appreciate the end outro, very genuine 👍

How long will this last? Will I need to keep reapplying? Does it stand up well to car washes?
