G'day Paul! My family bought a Mazda CX-8 in 2020, it has done about 200,000ks now, and hasn't missed a beat! We got the turbo diesel, and its truly fantastic, everything about it is amazing, good value for money while still feeling premium. Keep up the good work, love your stuff!
@@CarExpertAusAll good, just thought I'd point it out great review. Just a quick question, are you going to do a review of the 79 series, and the GR sport hilux when it releases?
Hey Paul I recently bought a CX-8 after my CR-V was poorly repaired after a rear end accident. I hire cars regularly I found base model RAV-4, Kia Sportage are pieces of junk. The base CX-8 is excellent value & offers heaps more room than the equivalent CX-5 for only $2.5K. Yep it’s not a sports car & rear suspension could be firmer but what a versatile car occasionally taking 7 adults short distances no probs. The general feel is quality & a cut above other Jap & Korean competitors
Me too, I traded in my cx5 for the upgrade to the right sized and more😊 comfortable cx8 in January this year. Amazing contrast. Full of praise for the cx8
After 12 months of driving my cx 8 just under 30k kms I'm convinced I made the final right move over from the smaller CX 5 to the cx 8 and base sports model as well. I started with a 6 in 2017, CX 5 in 2019, CX8 in 2023. What an array of drivers cars I would say.
Bought one earlier this the gtsp model. very happy with it. Particularly like the heads up display and the heated memory driver seat. Performance seems adequate and I regularly drive in the country. You can't get the turbo model in Aus. but you can overseas. Ride and steering soft but precise. Overall a good car and I like the dealer support.
Hi Paul, I'm a big fan of your insightful car reviews on Carexpert! Your expertise makes car choices easier for many of us. I noticed that you review alone, I mean sitting alone in the SUV during the tests. I was wondering if it would be possible to include passenger/load testing in some part of your SUV reviews. Since SUVs are commonly used for family travels, it might offer a more practical perspective to test them with all passengers(5 or 7) or a suitable load during uphill drives, and acceleration (0 - 100), While I'm not an expert, I believe the weight/load on the vehicle can affect acceleration and handling, considering that different SUVs may handle these scenarios differently. Such an approach would undoubtedly help us in a better way when choosing an SUV. I've noticed that among car reviewers, I haven't seen anyone consistently conducting passenger/load tests, and if there's someone who can do it, I truly believe it's you, given your expertise and dedication to providing valuable content. It's just a thought, and I completely understand if it's not feasible for your process. Regardless, I'm thrilled with your videos and appreciate the incredible work you do. Keep up the excellent content.
In future if a variant has more than one engine option can you test them back to back so you can comment on the difference and show the performance differences? The petrol they use in this is out of the Mazda 3 it definitely is underpowered for the CX8.
Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore and a couple of other south east Asian countries. Originally a JDM only car, but Australia wanted a 7 seat diesel engine option to make up for the petrol only CX-9.
Its a shame you didn’t test the diesel, we have the diesel Asaki and it’s a weapon it has so much grunt, so much in fact they should have put a wider profile tyre because it runs out of grip very quickly.
As an american nothing has me more confused than this 😶 I knew about the legend of the CX-8 but seeing feels so strange, my brain wants to make out a CX-5 or a CX-9 out of this car but it is both and neither at the same time 😂❤️ I kinda love it 😂❤️
It's a great car. Almost the space of the CX9 but in a more user friendly package (I.e. more manoeuvrable). We just clicked 2 years with ours the other day
I’m pretty sure from 2018 onwards the 2.2d was reworked. And really only pre 2014 diesels suffered blocked oil pipes. Unfortunately there hasn’t been enough time to justify the diesel’s reliability, but most are only having regular oil changes 😅
I so wish Mazda would ditch all the bright and shiny metal trim on the interior that glints happily in the sun and blinds the driver! I've had to hold my hand over the logo on the steering wheel while driving to avoid a glare headache and I've had to do the same with the metal around the gear lever at different times of the year. It's bloody annoying!
Thete is PLENTY of room in the third row ! I just dont get why you aussies say its cramped. My wife is 5'10" and if you set yhe front seat for her and midgle seat she can EASILY sit in the rear seat...you just have to adjust the midfle row forward a bit
I think the body styling is looking a bit tired concidering whats coming down the line with the competitors, particularly Hyundai and Kia. I think the Mazda interiors are very nice though...but is it enough to warrant the cost increase?
Still a pricey Mazda. Not a bad car though my brother owns a Mazda 3 and that thing has been super reliable unlike my pov spec Skoda which has had issue after issue. Mazda are upping them game big but with all their new range being above 60k or there abouts has big shoes to fill with the big German brands.
Got a 2016 cx3. Centre screen has spider cracks developing. Checked Mazda USA website. Known issue with (forgot the name) defect and repair bulletin. There were 2. First was to replace the unit. Second to replace the glue on screen. Australian dealer said no reports of this in Australia, then didn't lodge my report. $1500 quote for replacement. I'll never buy a car again with the control unit that sits directly in the sun.
I have a 2022 Mazda CX-30, looking to upgrade to a CX-5, too bad here in Canada, we don't have this CX-8...also, Paul you look odd when you're all shaved up ;)
I think the CX-60 should've been a 7-seater not the CX-5. This is basically an extended CX-5 which makes it look weird. The CX-60 already looks the part of a 7-seater lol
As nice as it is, it's looking Very Old in design, Basically not changed in forever. It's unsafe braking too long and poor performance, body roll, and understeer. Avoid this,, there is far better for the same money in other brands/platforms imo
Love Paul’s reviews, but I have to say the Mazda interior just looks so mid to late 2010s. Surely they can place a larger screen like most new cars or curved screen like the Sportage. To me the Mazdas just look like they have a dated interior especially for that price range.
Over 75k car doesn’t have vision technology, lane centring assist and panoramic sunroof is really down side for Mazda. Better go with Hyundai palisade which has all the great safety features that Mazda doesn’t have.
Traded my Mazda for a Tesla Model Y and can't understand why Mazda is still making such unremarkable cars in 2023. Was once considered a great brand, but they lack any kind of innovation.
Had the 2.5ltr Cx5 and same thing, gutless and thirsty in the real world. Also made a dreadful noise when it was rung out. Most of Mazda is all show an no go for their standard offerings.
