    The title is misleading. In Malaysia, as for now diesel version only comes with 6 seater not 7.

    You are among those reviewers who say that the Mazda cars they drove gave them a luxury feel to it. So I agree with it. No backlash to worry for. Mazda's overall packaging is more of an up-market.

    We own the CX-8 with 6 seats and the Diesel. After 6 months and 16,000 km I can say that it is a very good and comfortable family car. Our average fuel consumption is 7.4 l/100km. We own Mazda cars since 2008 and i very like their design philosophy. But the CX-8 has to grow on me, because it can look strange at some view angles.

    I really appreciate how Mazda going with its Kodo design. I mean if you see on the road mostly car manufacturers will go with boxes and sharp lines or edges. Mazda car, however, have this curves that for me so appealing and natural which make it stand out on the road..

    Yes for me Santa Fe is a beauty. But high spec turbo diesel Santa Fe vs Mazda CX8 same price, Santa Fe could not even afford to give us Memory Seat ?!! Their diesel executive variant far more worst, an SUV without power tail gate ??? Stupid enough of Sime Darby getting reviewer for test drive into the jungle and river... 90% of mass market buyer wont go there lor... We just want memory seat so we can swithc driver profile easily between husband and wife, and that power tailgate so that we dont need to jump to close that rear door... Stupid sime darby. I would buy that santa fe if not because of memory seat issue at high spec or power tailgate.missing scandal at exec spec...
    Now Mazda CX8 is my choice.

    If you have to choose between a CX-9 and this one, which one would it be and why?

    • @eujinpan
      @eujinpan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends what Id get it for... In terms of refinement, difference between the two is not noticeable if not negligible. So will most likely just go for the CX8 for the versatility of carrying extra people.
      Look out for the one with the centre aisle...very MPV-like. Personally i dont like the models with centre console in 2nd row. Not convenient for 3rd passengers to get in and out.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was looking at the CX-9 but it is no more available in Thailand. It was also crazy expensive. The CX-8 is more a raised waggon than a rough SUV and I meanwhile prefer that waggon style. The CX-8 is also not so wide and parking is easier. The diesel is also a great engine. We know it since the first CX-5. Japan got the 2.5 l Turbo and also ventilated seats.

    •  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pan EJ I very like center console! There is a lot of storage for the kids. We seldom use the 3rd row. But I think the access is not such problem for me (170 cm) and the «average Thai». Ventilation and aircon is also not a problem.

    • @ahllong
      @ahllong 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eujinpan From the dash design wise, I think I prefer the CX-9. The proportion from the exterior looks better. But Jurg is right in terms of the size... CX-9 seems very big. Still a tough choice though... and if we put this together with MPV like Alphard, still a tough choice. I think importantly is how it's drive.

    • @asrulsafwan7378
      @asrulsafwan7378 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ahllong I had same question last time, finally I went for CX-8 due to price, engine & size. SBU CX-9 AWD 2.5T in Malaysia cost almost 100k more than CX-8 AWD 2.2D. But, still you can get pre-owned unit cheaper arund 230k. Size wise, CX-9 is 129mm wider & 175mm compare with CX-8, make it difficult to park. Engine wise, as I use as daily car, I want efficient and economical engine. After review fuel consumption, I ended with CX-8. Glad to tell on combine mode CX-8 managed around 13.5km/l while based on review combine mode for CX-9 around 9km/l. After all it depends on your reason & personal preference. CX-9 is bigger, better handling, higher horse power and unique interior design of its own. Meanwhile CX-8 easy to park because of smaller size & more fuel economical.

    • @Everdistinct
      @Everdistinct 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Easier to park and drive in smaller roads. A lot of families do not need 7 seats all the time, If you fold back seats down, compared to cx5 it gives you more cargo space. Lower entry price of cx8 model makes it a more competitive 7 seater in this segment. Another factor is that Japan only sells cx8 due to road restrictions, i guess factories can reduce cost by manufacturing more cx8 and shipping overseas.

    Bermaz you don't provide 7 seater high spec for families. You took out the paranomic sunroof and bose sound system to make more profit. Families are stuck with low spec with minimal safety systems. You want them to step up to an old model cx 9 which will be discontinued soon at a hefty premium. You don't value middle class families. Well Bermaz, the Chinese are coming and they gonna give everything at a lower price. So don't be surprised you can't clear your old cx 8 stock.

      The design of CX-8 is a little bit an exception because the designer had to use a lot the parts of the CX-5 the CX-8. The design of the current cars is of course no more such radical than with the introduction of the Kodo design philosophy. But I very like, that Mazda simplifies the design. The new generation (Mazda 3 and CX-30) have no more these fake air in- and outlets like other Japanese cars - or even top brands like BMW.
