Thank you for the video. I was able to replace my side control pads with those wrapped in carbon fiber. Took less than 10 mins start to finish and in the dark. Key is simply knowing what and where the key elements are located. Thanks.

Do you have any idea if the airbags themselves are the same between the base and sport steering wheels for the E90 too?

One thing I hated on X5 non sport wheel, I got X5 35i with M-sport package, steering wheel is my favorite upgrade over regular X5.

Thanks for all the great X5 vids. I have a question though. What year X5 is your sport steering wheel from? I have an 08 with heat and just bought a sport wheel from an 11 with heat but the wheel seems to be missing the green and gray connectors for the pics of it I have. Didn’t receive the actual wheel yet. Any clue if the 11 isn’t compatible?

Hi, got the sports steering with the paddle shifters,....dont know if they will work plug and play when I replace the old oem steering, cos that doesnt have the shifters, pls
If you used the one with the paddles they are just plug and play

Great work! What's with the error messages on the dash? ASC/DSC/4x4 stuff..
Thanks, that's just cause I had the battery disconnected. You need to roll a few feet after disconnecting the battery to reset those warnings. The control module needs to see that all the wheel speed sensors are functioning as far as I know.

Hello, is it possible to change the same steering wheel that you had previously for one of x6 with paddle shifters? Is it necessary to do coding for paddle shifters or will plug & play work? the steering wheel is the same as the whole line x5 e70 with the same buttons but with paddle shifters .... thanks!

That stock airbag cover looks like an elephant trunk, or better still an ant eater

Jonathon Dawley You could but its very costly as you need a different control module and clock spring etc.
Vehicular DIY thank you for the reply, one more question.. so I just got a newer 2013 X5 and got a steal on a 2012 x5 sport wheel with paddle shifters. Since the wheel is coming with the paddles already is there anything I would need to do to get them to work properly? Coding? Additional power? could be made in China. The steering wheel heater is usually not located on the wheel
