I know the video is sped up, but handling the double-sided tape like that blew me away. It usually takes me 27 F-bombs and razor blade to get a single piece done! Great video.

I did this on my previous M2, then this tutorial didn't exist unfortunately. This was a really good video showing how to handle a few of the challenges with getting the overlay aligned and such. Also, the double sided tape is a really good thing which my kit didn't come with.

Да нормально я на Солярисе так делал без скотча норм держится, на ф30 тоже лежит такая оплетка с алика думаю без скотча попробовать только у меня руль другой бичевый который🤔
@@manzh920причем тут скотч, некоторые производители на заводе шьют рули и тоже скотч клеят. Я про оплетку , все закрепки на строчке возле спиц неакуратно сделаны, очень в глаза бросаются это как минимум. Хорошая машина, зачем этот колхоз.

With tape it’s easier to install it and it would not spin loosely when you gripping the wheel firmly.

You need come to Leon Guanajuato México to learn how to do this work, better tha you and a lot faster, the people here are experts in made all kind of things with leather main shoes
Is the tape necessary?
Yes, I did mine without it and regret because I can rotate the cover with firm grip.
Unfortunately, the cover i received doesn't seem to match the cuts you have on this display one. and has lots of excess around the sides.
I had the same problem
Do what I did, cut it to fit, and then make sure you glue down the existing thread so it doesn't come undone. Then just tuck it into your wheel.

Personally I would removed the airbag and then undid the 3 screws that hold the plastic m sport centre trim that would of saved time tucking in the leather under the trim also from there you can remove the switches
I find the skins are a tad expensive? £80 to buy and have it fitted by a mobile installer near me 🤷🏻♂️

i want this so bad but i know that i’m going to mess up big time and get really really angry and just throw everything away.
so instead i’m going to buy the actual genuine bmw m-performance steering wheel that comes stock with alcantara and carbon fiber.
it’s like $7k but it’s worth it
You could get so many mods for 7k. For a wheel it’s a bit ridiculous haha hence why the cover is so popular but you do you
Then get it done by professional and save 90%.... Or just buy an M, if you're willing to spend 7k for a steering wheel, that shouldn't be a problem too 😂

Hi im glad you asked. And before we go there I do this for a living on some of the most prestigious cars. When you sew 2 ends of hide together, when its been skived thin, the leather can become very sensitive to being pulled, too tight and we have lines like we have in the video @11:49 and really apparent @12:17 , yes it does look oem , but not oem on a BMW or even a Bentley for that matter ;) it feels bumpy under your fingers, and since when we can detect the slightest imperfection with our touch. It will "do ones head in". Lets just say it wouldn't pass quality control

@@johnsev3046 fair enough, you would not want to see how mine came out then haha... i didn't use the double sided tape and the back of my wrap is completely loose and bumpy. the front actually came out decent but I def could've done much better. wish I knew about the heat trick. so the thread shouldnt be very tight? the curves make it extra hard

Restoring the leather would mean no alcantara and no centre line, he likes it that way.
