Thank you! Ive been looking for the right way to jab so I dont hurt my elbow. Hyper extending the jab hurts the elbow and thumbs down technique works very well on my joints!
I come in peace, blessing upon you. As a coach and ofcourse allways student myself you are without a doubt the best boxing coach Ive come across on youtube. I am so so thankful Anthony. Thank you! Keep it coming . In shaa Allah!
Coach Clyde Buffalo NY. I've watched many different coaches on TH-cam videos & Coach Anthony is the best by far. I agree on everything he teaches. I have seen coaches teach the jab, & when throwing it they pivot on their lead foot. Now the punch is going straight but your energy is going to your right (if your orthodox)by pivoting. Why would you teach that. Coach Anthony is teaching you the right way. If you want to learn "The sweet science of Boxing" the correct way all you have to do is watch Coach Anthony's videos. Believe me he knows what he's talking about.
These videos are very good! It is extracurricular learning from a different source from the ground up for me. No matter how advanced one gets, or thinks that they are, the foundation is in the basics. Thanks for making these! Most coaches will not teach you or share their knowledge and secrets without the exchange of money, and share their deepest methods with only a select few.
Mr Antony you're a great trainer.....I respect you the way you explain boxing techniques. Thanks I have learnt a lot from your training. Jackson Sangea Nairobi Kenya
I'm a new subscriber but I've already watched several of your videos and I'm satisfied with all of them so for that I thank you. I can't wait to see this in depth jab video focusing on not stepping on the jab
Coach Anthony - thank you for the goldmine of videos you post. I'm finding as I'm trying to get that fist rotation/turnover, the motion naturally comes with some elbow flare/chickenwing telegraphing the shot more. What advice do you have for balancing these two things out?
Great videos, very informative, however, when you're stepping with the lead foot when throwing the jab you're putting your heel down first and then the toe and it should be toe heel. Also, ideally the back foot should be on the metatarsus or the inside part of the ball of your foot at all times.
Evgeni Antelo I wasn't stepping heel to toe maybe it seemed that way but you definitely need to be on the balls of your feet ...as stepping on your heel would ruin balance
Do you always 'over rotate' your wrist? I just use my jab with a straight wrist at the end of my jab, so I should rotate further? And the same for my right hand when I am doing a 1 2?
I learning so much from u. Got a question for u. How do u fight against someone thats coming at u in windmill punches thats steady coming at u????? How do u defend that?
Shelley Hunter do what the coach was saying on the video on the part were he explains the jab with no step. you would get in rhythm(getting on your toes) and circle him/her left and right and let the person throw windmill punches making them come forward. when they come forward and you step back and circle you pop them with a standing jab then move and when you see the chance you throw the stepping jab followed by a really hard or fast punch(right hand works good most of the time). Afterward watch those powerful loopy punches slow down dramatically and your opponent get tired which will make him/her yours to do as you wish.
Tom Yanchello posted a couple of videos years ago in which he claimed that the rear foot should be positioned at 90 degrees with the heel resting on the ground, mentioning videos of past world champions. What do you think about it?
Hey coach, when shooting the jab, i throw it and twist at the end. I feel my elbow comes out a little bit. Will the elbow come out a little because of speed/force or is it not supposed to come out at all? Thank you..
Hund Grand No that is a variation people like to call the "shotgun" jab. It gives you a little more reach and power but it will tire your upper body faster.
+That Guy I don't believe so The turn over of the punch is what generates more power also it can help create the cut as the friction on the skin can tear ...Hurting the wrist can only happen really if the punch doesn't land correctly and you bend the wrist Turning a punch over if done correctly shouldn't cause that
@@CoachAnthonyBoxing , first of all thank you for your videos, sir. And could I ask one thing: What's your opinion on Jack Dempsey's 3 knuckle punching? Is it safer for he wrist?
You got me in the living room looking like mayweather
I'm an old time boxing fan and I really like the way Coach Anthony breaks down this instruction, great work and see you in the right cross.
very good coaching , crystal clear, easy to follow.
Really Good stuff man, couldn't have said it any better than frank79811. I've watched a couple of your vids and love your coaching style.
Thank you! Ive been looking for the right way to jab so I dont hurt my elbow.
Hyper extending the jab hurts the elbow and thumbs down technique works very well on my joints!

Not many people turn the hand over properly like this, really gets the snap into the shot. Great video

My birthday... Enjoy watching your videos
Fixed my jab. Thank you Anthony
EXELLENT DYNAMICS THANKS FOR COVERING THE BASICS
I learned both ways. Each style has a reason, but I think the stepping jab should be first. Awesome
How the fuck is he not famous yet
I needed this after eating a basket of right hands yesterday.
super helpful. lots of videos out there have excellent tutorials but don't talk about the footwork. good input!

@@LouSkunts thanks for believing and I'll shout you out if I remember your name lol

More power if you throw it straight at a slightly downwards angle, but you're punching upwards which turns into a flick
well done champ. great vids. keep up the good work.

You’re a really talented coach.

Coach Anthony love the videos keep up the good work

Thank you very much Anthony :)
Bawp, bawp, bawp!
Bangin video!!

Turn your wrist knuckle over at the end and not before.

Nice basics sir!
great work, Coach, looking forward to watching more videos!!!!
Coach Anthony be looking Olympic with his posture
Great videos, very informative, however, when you're stepping with the lead foot when throwing the jab you're putting your heel down first and then the toe and it should be toe heel. Also, ideally the back foot should be on the metatarsus or the inside part of the ball of your foot at all times.

It takes a special type of ego to coach a coach
How many rounds and how often should you work your jab
Truuuuuueee wow . You could step jab, step jab, then shuffle into range and pause, then jab without stepping!
Vegabond, Moist Rider of the East 📠
how do you teach how to double up the jab please make a video on thatv
you fire the jab with step twice but quickly and the steps are short
Do you always 'over rotate' your wrist? I just use my jab with a straight wrist at the end of my jab, so I should rotate further? And the same for my right hand when I am doing a 1 2?
I learning so much from u. Got a question for u. How do u fight against someone thats coming at u in windmill punches thats steady coming at u????? How do u defend that?

Coach, in step jab, does the lead foot land on the ball or heel when stepping forward as the punch lands?
I think this video is supposed to be in the basic fundamentals playlist
I noticed you didn't rotate with your hips, isn't the jab more powerful if you slightly rotate with hips and shoulders or is that another technique?
Do you turn on your hips????
I want more videos!!!
Tom Yanchello posted a couple of videos years ago in which he claimed that the rear foot should be positioned at 90 degrees with the heel resting on the ground, mentioning videos of past world champions. What do you think about it?
The old timers would fight like that. Trainers I speak to tell me that you lose mobility that way.
Either or. With practice whatever you can make work.
Where is the stance video
Someone told me not to rotate the nuckle when throwing the jab but rather straight , so that way it will be faster
Shorter fighter need to learn to throw the jab differently than taller fighters
News that matter what u mean
Explain please
I'm interest your video , Good post
“Dont take your elbow out” Lomachenko: Hold my elbow
I know you've probably already explained this and it might be a stupid question but what's the difference between a jab and a straight punch
Theron Youmans jab is a straight punch off the hand.. straight Is a straight off the rear hand
OO W thanks
Morning Professor Anthony. You remind me of my Law School Professors. I pay attention like a MaThaFaKa! Damn U make me look good @ the gym....
I think you are raising your elbow when you throw the jab, sorry if I'm wrong

hey coach are you located in NYC?
Last I knew before the quarantine he was south jersey.
Hey coach, when shooting the jab, i throw it and twist at the end. I feel my elbow comes out a little bit. Will the elbow come out a little because of speed/force or is it not supposed to come out at all? Thank you..
The jab is supposed to come out straight.
this man reminds me chuck d
These vids is making me into a monster....I'm getting nice with my smitties.
u in NYC or what
U look so young coach
Eunice Bullock you know you want that
I rotate my upper body as I throw jab should I stop this
Hund Grand No that is a variation people like to call the "shotgun" jab. It gives you a little more reach and power but it will tire your upper body faster.
no it is the best way to shoot your jab but it slows your combinations.you should do this and the types the coach showed here
when i do the jab and proitcect my face with the shoulder sometimes my shoulder punches my face lol any fixs on that??
Wow! That's interesting. Your shoulder hits your face? Does this happen during sparring?
yeah and even during bag work if I focus on bringing my shoulder up to my face lol it kinda hurts after awhile xD
+morgan given me too lol
Wouldn't happen if your chin were correctly tucked in I suppose.
Coach how old are you
would still turn wrist in bare knuckle boxing
YES I Would turn my punches over when bare knuckle boxer
Do you have a higher risk of damaging wrist over a straight up and down jab
+That Guy I don't believe so The turn over of the punch is what generates more power also it can help create the cut as the friction on the skin can tear ...Hurting the wrist can only happen really if the punch doesn't land correctly and you bend the wrist Turning a punch over if done correctly shouldn't cause that

The best jabs in the business is Larry Holmes, and Marvin Hagler. Watch Haglers fight with Alan Minter. Any Holmes fight shows the jab.
It's the black version of dude from skate
When i watch you throw the jab i see you flare the elbow out beforw the punch is released. Teach them how to throw the jab straight down the "pipe".
Great style! Unfortunately, dark light with dark clothes does not show the excellence
