A tornado struck a crowded KOA campground tonight east of Claremore, OK. Campers were destroyed, tossed, and blown over. Multiple entrapments were ongoing with rescues being made all across the campground. Drone video shows the damage and the search and rescue of entrapped people.
Prayers go out to all the victims from today’s tornadoes yesterday. God bless everyone.
To the people on live streams chat last night, saying the forcast was a bust, does this look like a bust now? Man, they were plucking my nerves. So dumb. Not to mention telling the chasers how to chase, while sitting at home in your pajamas.
They need to have large or multiple shelters at campgrounds in tornado prone areas. Those RVs and 5th Wheels are just tissue paper with any sort of impact. 🙏♥️
They use to through the 70s and 80s but in the late 90s they just stopped
@@AmusedCoffee-ym3gb Well that's crazy. Sad too.
I think there was one. Take a look at 0:41. But you are definitely correct. Any medium or large campground in a tornado prone area should have a storm shelter of some type.
Were you thinking that building on the right? If so, not sure if it was technically one, but if not, hopefully people were able to use it as shelter since it seemed intact.
@@hollybarker9057 they were too expensive and expensive to upkeep. Most just became underground swamps
OMGOODNESS! My deceased father was from Claremore. Praying for all that is impacted
OMG. Praying for all the victims from all these tornadoes.
I was in the KOA shelter that night. Thankful to be alive. And I believe that’s me in the blue shirt at the beginning. It was a truly terrifying night.
😭 I was there just left salina highbanks, my gut said stop I got picture with the band next I knew they came over intercom for everyone to leave we got a call from son asking were was and get there now ! Watching this just breaks my heart plus everyone in path I live 15 mins away now got go different town just for anything - praying for everyone to be safe !
well thank god you got the picture with the band
I live near Claremore.
I see posts saying it was F3 and some saying F4. Lots of damage, will see more in daylight. People are cooperating as chainsaw crews to clear downed trees etc. There are also powerlines down. Some buildings destroyed, more damaged. Some people trapped on damaged houses. Everyone including police officers moving whatever they can by hand to clear paths for rescue vehicles and people.
My son works for the county road department, has been on the job since 2:30 am or so. They have equipment and experience clearing storm debris and expect at least 48 hours work time just to fully clear the roads around Claremore. And that estimate was before the twister hit Pryor, east of Claremore.
So - major recovery effort, lots of hard work, don't know any casualties yet. Should know more on that by noon.
There is no way that the storm was determined to be an EF3 or EF4 already. The NWS sends out crews after the fact to study and collect data. It will be a few days before a determination is made.
They can't determine that right now. They have to survey the damage, which takes days to complete.
I live in Claremore. It was an interesting night. The width of the damage is very wide.. but it's also sporadic inside the wide swath, so it was likely a multi-vortex with a larger primary. Mostly trees down in my area and we were within about 100 yards close enough for it to bow my garage door inward and close enough to hear the growl. It was bad, but it could have been much, much worse. The radar image and the wide path of wind damage means that this could have been like in Iowa or KY, but it wasn't. Which is a blessing, despite everything. Some more notable instances of intense wind are a power pole broken into three parts, two still suspended and one in the ground. The kind of wind force needed to make two small breaks and one long break is pretty intense. Also it mangled about 500+ yards away a high tension power structure. Also threw some sheds around. The Downs and the Trailer Park took it the worst. We don't have power and we don't have much water. It will likely be days if not a week before it's fixed. I was lucky enough to get gas for the gens before they ran out.
Our nephew lost his house last night. There's like 2 interior walls partially standing but it looks like a total loss. We thank God they are all safe.
Sending prayers for all that are involved to keep your chins up and hopes. I am so sorry this has happened to you. We went through this too.. back in 2007 and it was devastating and surreal. We made it through it and recovered and you will too.Keep prayers going.
That must have been utterly terrifying! I hope and pray no one was seriously injured.
Prayers sent
Wow! Is that the campground by the racetrack and Will Rogers casino?
Yes it is. We lived in the KOA. I was in the shelter that night, my husband went back to our camper. Thankfully ours didn’t flip.
My sympathies to the people of Claremore. May you recover quickly.
This is so awful. My prayers go up for all of these poor ppl. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Man what is up with the tornadoes this year
El nina. It's still snowing to the west of America. Montana and Colorado. That's fueling the naders

Underground housing is sounding better and better every day-then the earthquake will increase
WOW!!! PRAYERS for down in the SOUTH RIGHT NOW !!!
Is this normal Tornado activity for you Americans? Im Australian and it seems extreme to us, like alot more than in previous years 😮. We had a Tornado 2 weeks ago in our state of Victoria, WE NEVER HAVE TORNADOS IN AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺. I feel like something bad is upon us 😢. Sending love ❤️ to our friends.xx
Not mostly Americans but Oklahomans and people from Kansas it’s normal for us
Look like a large public storm shelter at 0:41. Hoping everyone was able to get to it.
It is. I lived in the campground. Most everyone made it to the shelter. Just had a few injuries for people that were in their campers that flipped. But no casualties. Those shelters saved our lives.
Prayers for Fire and EMS where do you even begin??
Were those the large of semi trucks on i44 overturned as reported on the news?
Hey, if you're gonna do night drone footage, you should try out something like RCtestflight's drone spotlights.
They better shut down HAARP!!!!
LOL! Hilarious! 😅😂🤣🤡
Betger have yer hommie Trump get right on it and send him a grand also
Turn off Alex Jones for real

Every day now, another hard hit tornado, hail, rains and floods, what is going on???
It’s a biblical sign
Springtime in tornado alley. This happens every year more or less. One difference is people realizing that they could monetize coverage (if it bleeds it leads), so there is an army of out of state license plates "chasing" these storms and providing a lot more coverage and footage than we used to get in the strictly local news/cable news era.
Any updats on the CMpground ,vonfitions of campers,I know its dark but please if anyone has ingo podt. All of us estching these devastating dtorms happen sre hesrtbroken gor you All. Fonate to the Red Cross or Dalvation Army. Legitimate charities that actually help the people affected.
This jas been a terrible 5 months ,the storms have not stopped since January. I hate to see Hirricanes start. God Nless all.🙏♥️😓
Those are not legitimate charities that help. They pocket the money. It’s better to donate directly.
Red Cross is a scam. After working for them for a bit it made me realize they heavily limit what they give out compared to what they actually have.
“What is up with tornadoes this year?” Climate change yall. For the first time in human history we spent every day last year at a new record for temperature highs. This isn’t the wrath of god, it’s the wrath of our planet.
It's called La Nina. Also, planets don't have human emotions, silly child.
We're curr😢 transitioning from El Nino to La Nina. Those Springs tend to be very active with severe weather. It's relatively cool out west this Spring, and relatively warm out south and east. Perfect for tornadoes as there needs to be that temperature contrast.
