      This, it's all about what you prefer. I think the coyote wins out long term because when built properly, and maintained well, but still beaten to hell, the coyote ends up the most reliable long term when it's running at the limits of capability with just oil gears and a coolant crossover. And now we have redundant fuel systems.

There is the newer and more spacious GSF but it gained a lot of weight similar to the charger so it loses that advantage. Haven’t watched the video yet. The answer is the 6.2 if you want the most reliable motor capable of making the most power by throwing money at it. If you want the one that has the most character, it’s the Coyote. If you want the one that that combines character and reliability in one, and you plan on NEVER touching the power, it’s the 6.4.
    As usual, depends on use case.

    I’ve owned a 6th gen SS, driven many 5.0’s and now own a Scatpack Charger. I will say the SS is the most stable out of all 3. The 5.0 does have good top end but while driving it I didn’t seem secure. The scatpack is a family/muscle car with a lot of power to have fun in. If I could I would own the 6th gen ZL1 for weekends and a scatpack Charger to daily.

    I feel like your first catagory ended up being more "Parts availability" than actual ease of modification. When it comes to actually turning a wrench on these motors I have to say the LT1 is a bit easier than the 5.0 - LT1 is a simpler design. Biggest downside is a cam swap, but there are ways to do it without having to rear the entire engine down or dropping the motor. The 6.4 is a nightmare to work on by comparison.
    The 6.4 and LT1 feel quite similar torque wise down low which I chalk up to weight difference - slight edge to the 6.4 but it's not drastic. The 5.0 is a blast when you run the engine out and keep it revved - just feels like a relaxing cruise gettin it to the sweet spot in the rev range (by comparison)
    The 6.4 is certainly designed in a manner which makes any meaningful modification an expensive task. While I commend the engineering that was involved in making the engine I also look at it as a fault. Dollar for dollar the 5.0 and LT1 can easily gain impressive hp and torque gains fairly cheaply, which due to their weight advantages puts the 6.4 at the disadvantage.
    Off the lot in their stock forms, in my experience, the Camaro takes the win for slicing the twisty mountain roads and road courses, Challenger takes the win for drag strip fun and games, Mustang is a nice weekend car - it's motor can be a ton of fun but the steering and suspension is numb and running the motor out to it's power range makes the fun rarely street legal. I haven't driven the new GT500 but I hear they have improved the feel from the steering and chassis. Hopefully that trickles down to the lower trims someday and they'd have one fun trackday pony car.
    And finally the Challenger takes the clear win for nostalgia. Car looks the part and feels the part of the American muscle it is meant to call back to.

      A 427 coyote would be taller for the longer stroke crank and wider to accommodate the bigger bore pistons therefore the block would also need to be taller and wider to accommodate the crank and pistons so much so making it impossible to fit in the existing mustang unless the hood was 3+ inches higher and the chassis was 8+ inches wider for it to fit the 5.0 is already stuffed in and already a very very tight fit

      Fantastic? He intentionally glossed over the Gen V LT engine, jumped right to factually incorrect "downsides", glossed over factual downsides of the Coyote, and then did a quick mention of the Mopar 6.4. The Gen V LT 6.2 is still cheaper by far to modify than a 5.0L Coyote (1 cam vs 6, 16 valves vs 32, 1 short timing chain vs a mile of timing chain, 1 cam phaser vs 4, 16 direct fuel injectors vs 16 port + 16 direct, etc). That's ignoring the limitations of a 3rd gen Coyote block which doesn't have steel cylinder liners but instead an inferior spray-in liner that they decided to do in-house instead of using the German company that pioneered the technique and did it on previous Ford V8 designs.

    Did he just say that the LT didn’t have other platforms “to waterfall from”?
    Is he nuts? The LT1 is the same platform as the DI 5.3L that’s in hordes of 1/2 ton SUV/trucks, the DI 6.2L in everything from high end 1/2 tons to 1 tons, Supercharged LT4 in ZL1/ZO6/CTSV, and LT5 in the ZR1. Its more prolific than the Coyote thanks to Ford using Ecoboost V6 in full size trucks. Plus, there’s 3 generations of Coyote engines since 2011 and a number of parts don’t interchange between the gens. Meanwhile the interchangeability between the LT architecture is much greater.
    IOW, not only does it the LT design in many more platforms than the Coyote, it also has the biggest aftermarket support and better interchangeability.

      I’m a Ford guy and I agree LS/LT motors have definitely more availability of parts, BUT the Coyote has more variation because it is purely for racing. Mustang’s aftermarket community has always had everything available from the S197 to the S550. In any case, I think for the factors. 1. SS, 2. Hemi 3. GT, 4. Hemi, 5. GT. GT still wins.

    • @helpmelol7097
      @helpmelol7097 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ChuckO Because the Chevy parts come from old Express vans and other non-sport lineup. They’re basically stock parts. The only performance parts the Camaro can get from other Chevys are from Corvettes, Cadillacs, and upper trim Camaros. And these are only performance parts from the factory. Mustangs have a wide variety of aftermarket parts because the engine itself is dedicated for performance application. The F150 Coyote is very different from the Mustang Coyote. Just like the 2JZ in the Supra and Lexus IS350 or the VQ35 in the G35 and EX35.

    Place the 392 Engine in a car that Curb Weights in the same weight rang as that s550 & that gen6 Alpha chassis, and the car would be an 11.1 car on stock power & a Drag pack..
    Place the stock power LT1 & the Coyote engine’s into the chassis of the 4400lb Challenger & the car will be SLOWER..

      Viages 7693 all that is a given that should go without say when referencing these 3 cars. Each of them have exceptionally quick shifting Automatics (A8 & A10) & each of them are rear drive front engine N/A High performance V8’s. It’s not complicated at all.
      The MAIN POINT is these Stock Power SP 392 Challengers with an A8 are mid 11sec cars on a set of DR’s.. I’m telling you for a FACT, if you were to the place a Stock Power Coyote in that SP Challenger it would NOT run a mid 11 1/4mile because the Coyote doesn’t have the Wonderful Torque of the 392! To help mask the Curb weight of the car.
      But if you placed a Stock Power 392 Engine into the A10 equipped s550, that car if on a set of DR’s would run an 11Flat if not slightly quicker.
      Stock! Non modded! Engine for Engine, the 392 “IS” the better Engine. It just so happed to be stuck inside of a car that weighs over 500lbs more than the Mustang & the Camaro.
      Place all 3 Engines on a “ENGIN DYNO” (not on a chassis dyno) and the 392 on 93octane will show to be a 495-500HP/480-490TQ engine.. the LT1 & the Coyote will NOT make that Power

      Uh... no it wasn't. He intentionally glossed over the Gen V LT engines and made up so ignorant BS about cost of upgrades vs the LS. The cost difference is tiny, particularly compared to any generation of the Coyote. A cam upgrade for a Gen V LT engine is 1 cam.... compared to 4 for any generation of the Coyote. Cam phaser is 1 vs 4. The Coyote uses a mile of timing chain vs the Gen V LT's short chain. The Coyote has a widely known issue with the oil pump being brittle vs the Ford Racing version of the pump. Yep. When Ford takes 5.0L Coyotes from the engine line to turn them into official Ford Racing 5.0L Coyote's, they pull the factory oil pump off and throw it into the trash, replacing it with an upgraded billet oil pump since even they know the factory oil pump is a major threat to warranty costs.

    The camaro engine is good for lower mid rpm power but u have to put work in the motor to daily drive it if you put a blower
    The 6.4 preety much comes already to it's full potential from factory. if u wana add a blower u will have to get forged internals or else it will blow on you even at low psi.
    The 5.0 is good in every single aspect and u can daily it without having to forge the Motor or much after you add a blower. But the bad thing is the lack of torque and response but once ur in those higher rpms u preety much can beat any car if ur boosted

    Have a Camaro at home, buddy had a Challenger and now has a Mustang, hands down motor the 5.0 rules and the Mustang is so much better everywhere else as well. The Challenger torque is a ton of fun as it just breaks tires effortlessly but it feels like a truck motor as it doesn't pull up top and you constantly hit the low rev limiter as you want to stay in it but it won't go there. The 5.0 is a world and a generation (more like 3 or 4 generations as they have been doing the cammers since the 90s) above the rest and the Mustang is just a better chassis, interior etc... To each their own though, all fun choices

  • @weekendwarriorgaragedoityo1393
    @weekendwarriorgaragedoityo1393 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Good video but it felt a little biased towards the dodge, the best engine out of the 3 is the 5.0, just because of the design duel overhead cams and four valves per cylinder and direct injection you are going to get more power per liter and get more power on the same mods. It’s just better engineering.

He was obviously a Ford fanboy that glossed over Gen V LT 6.2's and falsely claimed their downpoint is cost of upgrading compared to a 5.0 Coyote that requires 4 times as many cams and phasers, twice as many valves and lash adjusters, an upgraded non-factory oil pump, and other upgrades in order to address weak points. He is clearly a Ford boy and avoided mentioning all the serious issues associated with the Gen 3 Coyote, including the brittle oil pump, timing chain stretch, cam phaser issues, etc.
