    Kenobi wasn’t the master Anakin needed, unlike Qui-Gon. He needed a father, not a brother. Furthermore, when giving criticism, Kenobi was not good at a “criticism sandwich”, or a compliment followed by criticism, followed by another compliment. He would compliment first, but then end with a criticism. This left an emotionally needy Anakin feeling torn down. “You’re a great warrior, Anakin. But your need to prove yourself is your undoing. Until you overcome it, a Padawan you will still be.

    • @uilliam6926
      @uilliam6926 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      But Qui-Gon is dead, so...? What's your point? In a ideal scenario sure Qui-Gon would have been the figure Anakin needed but he wasn't. It fell to Kenobi, that responsibility was huge especially as the clone wars began. Kenobi did everything he could, you are picking off one single scene where it was right for Kenobi to be critical of Anakin because he is quite literally training him so he does not become shortsighted during a duel and end up losing. Which is what happens to him on Mustafar. Stop with the 'its Kenobi's fault' nonsense when Anakin made those decisions himself and all Kenobi was doing was trying his best as a fairly new mentor to guide him and make it explicitly clear that he had to handle such situations like we see in this scene better.

      @@uilliam6926 Actually you're wrong. Theres plenty of examples why Obi Wan isn't a good mentor. He himself admitted he failed Anakin and he did. A lot of people failed him. Obi Wan, Palpatine as a false mentor because he's a literaly groomer, Ahsoka, and the entire Jedi Order failed him. Watch Villain Therapy withAnakin Skywalker by Cinema Therapy. It sheds light on a lot, and it makes a point of Obi Wans rather flimsy and damaging teaching style.

    Star Wars characters and fans alike blamed Kenobi for not doing enough with Anakin, not getting through to him to steer him on the right path. But as you can see here and I'm gonna venture to guess on many other occasions as well, he did in fact try and in a calm and meaningful manner. Anakin's turning is his own undoing and all on him. Change my mind.

      What most fans fail to realize is literally it was Anakin‘s destiny to fall to the dark side. Balance within the force means someone going through the light side and the dark side having experience both, only such a person can bring balance to the force. That is the true prophecy of the chosen one. Although it didn’t have to be the way events happened.
      It was the will of the force for Qui-gon Jinn to die at the hands of Darth Maul. The word Qui means Chi which means “Internal/ Eternal Energy.” The word Jinn means breath ghost spirit or gas force. The word Jinn is also Djinn or Genie. Only through the physical death of the body release the spirit, the life force, the soul is free to elevate to a new level of power, becoming omnipotent, if you will. “If you strike me down I will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine.” Old Ben Kenobi said these words, but this was first discovered by Qui-gon Jinn.
      Anakin Skywalker would have never fallen to the Darkside in only 2 of these scenarios. 1) If Mace Windu trained Anakin. He Mastered The Darkside and was the only Jedi to ever do so. This directly would’ve allowed The Chosen One to deal with his inner darkness, harness it & command it to his will, not the other way around.
      2) If Obi-wan & Anakin were never separated in ROTS. Many of the fans failed to see, Anakin’s fall to the Darkside took a serious descent the moment Anakin & Obi-wan were split up. “Divide & Conquer.” This was a very cold & calculated move on Palpatine’s part. Remember on The Ship “The Invisible Hand” After Anakin killed Count Dooku, thanks to the manipulation from The Supreme Chancellor. Anakin has Mastered his anger, from the war forging him into the youngest Master The Order ever had. Skywalker disarmed Dooku with no intention of killing him. It was the final check move. Palpatine, Anakin’s supposed friend and mentor advised Anakin to leave his true best friend and mentor for dead on the ship. Anakin sharply replied No, in his own way. This moment showed Palpatine, in order to fully ensnare Anakin, he had to separate the two. Anakin still believed in the Jedi way. His final connection to the Jedi Order was Kenobi.
      The bond between Anakin & Obi-wan was stronger than it had ever been. Anakin would die for his Master. And so would Obi-wan. This too was not the Jedi way. Their bond was stronger than any rule the Jedi created nor maintained. The war forged their bond as strong as, if not stronger than Qui-gon & Obi-wan. That’s really sayin somethin. Qui-gon always had Obi-Sam’s back, they were never separated throughout their time together. I’d hate to see what could’ve become of Kenobi if the Chancellor were secretly influencing him against his Master. In order for Obi to be turned, he & his master would have to separated. As to what successfully happened to Ani & Obi. Remember how concerned & disturbed Ani was when Obi was sent to Utapa without him. “Your gonna need me on this one Master.” - Anakin. Skywalker was frustrated with the Jedi Council, but not with His Best friend Obi-wan. The moment Obi-wan was separated from his best friend, Palpatine could sink his claws into Anakin without the strength bond & love of Obi-wan. A great many fans underestimate the strength and bond of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi But these same fans never underestimate the strength and bond of Qui-gon Jinn & Obi-Wan Kenobi.

    • @triforceofpowa
      @triforceofpowa ปีที่แล้ว +7

      So the point of this scene is there isn't a win condition... It's the philosophy of what Victory is and how being obsessed with winning makes you blind to actual Victory. Obiwan was still teaching Anakin, although Anakin thought he won, he stopped paying attention to the actual lesson and got his lightsaber taken. Anakin thought beating Obiwan in a fight=win. True Victory is being better than yourself, otherwise you'll be always be a Padawan. That is the actual lesson.

    I liked this scene overall, but I still think they should've dome digital de-aging on Hayden's face. "Attack of the Clones" was set when Anakin was 19, but by the time of the "Kenobi" show, Hayden was 40. His performance was still very good, but you could tell he wasn't in his 20s anymore. Ewan didn't need that kind of thing, since he was given the appropriate wig and beard from "Episode II".

    This was EASILY the best part of the series.. But even with this, I still have problems with it.
    The no de-aging is a BIG red flag.. But Obi-Wan telling Anakin: “You grow too aggressive, Anakin. Be mindful. A Jedi’s goal is to defend life, not take it.”
    Whilst mere seconds earlier, Obi-Wan tries to take a slash at Anakin’s face/head 🤨 Dumb! Contradictory and hypocritical.

      and this is how to tell when someone doesn't understand how combat works. Anakin's aggression carried him too far forwards and he wasn't paying attention to his own defenses nor to Obi-Wan's ability to riposte. Thus, he almost lost his head. Kenobi slashed at his neck to show him what happens when you overly commit to aggression. It's not contradictory to capitalize on someone's mistake, show them WHY its a mistake and then explain to them that they shouldn't make that mistake again.

    It's was great to see them back but they couldn't even put the effort in making them looking younger here. The show was garbage sadly. Best parts were vader of course but a failed attempt to making a good show. Disney ruins everything.
