Saw this in the theater... it was like Star Wars suddenly became a horror movie and it was fantastic.
I saw it in the theatre too. The live reactions to this scene were off the charts. It went from being a gritty war film to a straight out horror movie in the space of around 5 minutes.
I instantly knew it was one of the great movie scenes after I just watched it for the first time. The sound fx and music, the lighting, the absolute horror of the massacre, the illustration of Vader's power, and
the surprise of it leading directly into Episode 4. It's proper jaw dropping cinema. Amazing directing.
Same. His lightsaber coming on and most of our theater audibly gasping is a moment I will not forget.
Same! Never before i have had chills in star wars movie but when that scene came, i almost holded my breath the whole time and got chills. Also i thought for a second that movie was gonna end when vader was showed and his lightsaber went onð
Even tho we (who watched the originals) knew that they got the plans out was still scared that they would fail.
A reminder that Carrie Fisher did see Rogue One in theaters. She was genuinely stunned and surprised to see her young appearance in the end because she thought it was reused footage from 1977 that she thought she had forgotten about. She squealed happily like a little girl upon seeing Leia onscreen.
Passing away one week after she saw this movie was heartbreaking.
May she be one with the Force forever.
At least she was able to see this movie where Star Wars was still pretty good, and she didn't have to see what Star Wars has now become.
The power of one, the power of two, the power of CARRRIEEE
May the force be with her
How do you know? She had passed away already, hadn't she?
I'll give Disney credit for this; they know how to use Darth Vader.
Any time he shows up, he's the most terrifying thing you've ever seen.
They *Knew.
Nope not Disney. Tony Gilroy.
You're giving Disney way too much credit
Prior to Kathleen Kennedy.....
Disney didn't get involved in this or else Vader would be wearing rainbow-colored capes and blue hair soy boys as backup.
0:30- That girl still has THE best reaction to this scene. That video was on YT years before any of these reaction channels. THAT reaction is 100% genuine.
Totally agree.
Yep! I remembered her too. Her emotions were all of us watching the movie at the theaters lol. Here is her OG video since it was not linked and it also provides context for the girl's reaction which makes it even more endearing:

My first thought on seeing this alert was: "Yay!"
My second thought was: "I hope Brinley is in included."
I like the fact that her scream was in tune with that high note in the Darth Vader theme playing at the end of the escape.
That was such a badass entrance its probably one of the best scenes that i ever seen in the stars wars universe.
A single man walks towards a firing squad. Not a single shot hits him. He never stops advancing, for what can stop him? He is a dread God to these men, a bringer of Death.
And He left His mercy at home.
The moment they heard that signature breathing, they know who's coming.
The Most Terrifying sound in the Galaxy, followed by the second most terrifying sound in the galaxy
The Galactic Boogeyman.
That entrance is the true definition of spine tingling.
The best Disney stuff is Vader's hallway scene -- and later on, Luke's in Mando. Like father, like son.
I remember watching this opening weekend--the crowd went nuts during this scene. Folks were standing, cheering, screaming. Star Wars has drifted a long way from getting that type of emotion out of folks and I miss it.
Too bad the rest of the movie was hot garbage.
The rest of the movie was fine.
@@RobertJ-vo4bk Is this what gives your miserable life meaning? Coming online and shitting on people who are enjoying themselves?
@@RobertJ-vo4bk the movie is the best thing that happened to disney andn one of the best star wars movie.
Rogue One was one of the very first Star Wars things Disney released, and I went into it with the cynical soulless corporation expectation that people now RIGHTLY have of Disney Star Wars. But this movie was so good it legit bought Disney YEARS of benefit of the doubt from me. The Vader scene and how they chose to tie it into Episode IV was stunning.
This is how terrifying Darth Vader should always be.
Some of them didn't realize how directly Rogue One linked with A New Hope.
Edit: I shoulda said at first, watching them freak out when they realize was amazing.
Shame
@@XxBlade.88401 I shoulda said at first, watching them freak out when they realize was amazing.
I think George was in shock with everyone dying. Simone realized what was happening when Vader says "prepare a boarding party" but it took a second for it to click.
"you are a traitor and part of the rebel alliance....take her away"
@@4everhealthwellness344 "And lying directly to my face! I watched your ship detach from the Mon Cal warship and jump away!"
1:35, the blond girl in the top left corner...
First of all, I applaud you for including her in this mix; she's the MVP of reactions to this scene, but for me, it's the moment when she realizes it's the Tantive IV launching - and that the movie is dovetailing into A New Hope - that makes her reaction practically legendary.
That was totally wicked!!! She makes me smile every time I see her reaction.
Even more dark is when you realize the door wasnt jammed but being held closed by vader. :O
No it was jammed. You see a large amount of sparks by the door mechanism as they're running towards the door and then the hallway loses all power. Hence why it was completely dark while the other side had light. Vader had no clue what the guy had in his hand. It could have been a dirty letter to his wife for all we knew. He just knew that they were something in his way to the ship. They were speed bumps. He did use the force to unjam the door.
No it wasn't. Then there was nothing stopping him from fetching the disk using force too.
â@@theascendunt9960 yeah, I think it was the power outage that caused it, because you can clearly see the moment the lights shut down, the door locked in place too
@@melsuppatlol4565 the door may have been jammed from shutting but it certainly didn't stay that way when Vader forced it open. I would have to say that's even more terrifying.
"I heard you guys like sand." *lightsaber ignites*
This scene right here. This is the Darth Vader we all imagined as kids. Years later, I still get chills watching this scene.
The hallway scene shows him to be incompetent
Rogue One was nothing short of amazing. I'm so grateful I saw it opening day.
Imo its the best SW movie. Even better than ROTJ.
@@JayzVeez I concur, but ROTJ is a bit of a let down compared to the 2 first
it's like Episode IV and episode V in S tier
episode VI III and Rogue One in A tier probably
the prequels in B tier
After seeing Vader as a whiny little kid, a whiny teenager, and a whiny padawan it's nice to be reminded of why you should be afraid when you hear that breathing in the darkness
I LOVE the alarm sound on the ship. Pure terrfying sound
0:02 Is it just me or does that explosion look a bit like a cinnamon roll?
Itâs not just you
You're either hungry or dehydrated.
Brinley was all of us, all at once!! I would happily give her full credit to the start of reaction videos!!
There will never be a reaction like Brinleyâs reaction and I couldnât be happier that there is at least one other person in this world that loves Star Wars as much as I do!!!
THATS WHat a Dark Lord of the Siths is supposed to be.
Relentless, Merciless and Brutal.
Like Harkonnens!
This movie is always a bit bittersweet for me. In that it's a really good movie, but the first time I saw it in theaters was the day that Carrie Fisher passed away. My friend was checking his phone one last time before shutting it off before the trailers started and he saw that she had passed and told me. So, when Princess Leia popped up here at the end it was hard to keep from breaking down.
RIP Princess.
Hey thatâs me! ðŪ So cool to see some other awesome reactors ðŦķðĪ
I loved your reaction! I was hoping to see your âWhat?!?!â when Leia was revealed
The last 45 minutes of Rogue One are the best 45 minutes in all of Star Wars movie history. They really hit it out of the park!
I love the look on George's face.
Maybe five seconds before you hear Vader breathing...I thought "what if Vader shows up and wrecks shop?" Then it clicked that it was going to happen. My jaw fell open and I got the biggest grin on my face. I almost hyperventilated because of how awesome it was. We finally got to see Vader going full tilt. No holding back. It puts Empire Strikes Back into perspective. He was TOYING with Luke. We only IMAGINED what Vader could do for 40 years; this showed us what we dreamt of all along.
Anyone claiming this scene was pointless and just fan service isn't a true Star Wars fan.
This is why they shouldn't put "artisties" in charge of beloved sci-fi franchises.
What about those of us who claim this entire movie was pointless?
â@@lgjm5562 You mean like George Lucas?
â@@korganrocks3995well, you guys are just no fun at all
@@indoctrinationtheory1468 I'd argue that it's the movie that's no fun at all, which is my issue with it.
Disney....you know what we want...stop fkn around.
About time you did a Star Wars movie scene!
I remember watching this in the cinema, you could literally feel everybody's blood chill, it was scary.
Love the spotlight on Brinley, the single greatest reaction video of all time.
This scene made everyone in the theater go absolute BERSERK! It was like being in a football stadium. This is Darth Vader at his peak!
Great supercut. The GF loosing her mind is always golden.
It puts Vader's appearance in A New Hope into perspective, no? After Rogue One, we know he's on that rebel ship having just murdered about twenty dudes and he still doesn't have what he wants.
Because he's incompetent
And Leia says 'We're on a diplomatic mission' to his face despite what has just happened..
The reaction of the lady in the top left corner, is the most authentic and emotional reaction i ever seen, gives me goose bumps every time.
That dad in the middle is like WTFðģðģððģðģððģð
Rogue One is such an amazing Movie, my fave SW movie next to Empire.
I love how MurdaWhistle just got brought in for the STFU
Brinley is the gold standard for this cinematic moment.
You are hands down the best at these montages my man. Its not close.
I cackled like a crackhead the whole time from his first breath. Epic.
I've watched Brinley's reaction more times than I've watched "Rogue One". This video would not be complete without her.
This is a great scene to compile reactions....Darth, Leia, the intensity, the horror, the tie into Episode 4....and Popcorn in Bed has the best reaction (I hate him so much...)
This was the movie that made me really, truly realize how terrifying Vader actually was. I saw this on Opening night and when this scene started the audience went nuts. It was so well done it blew the rest of the movie right out of the water.
I literally paid for a ticket just to show up at the end and see this again... AMAZING!!
That scene was the best part of the movie. Single handedly tied the first movie (ep 4) to the rest of them, showed why vader was such a terror, and ripped me back to my childhood. I went from being pissed that they just "gave up" on the beach to watch death come at them without fighting so hard like they had just done to forgiving the rest of the movie for that 2 minutes or whatever it was.
One of Star Warsâ best moments was also one of its truest representations of a character, all while drenched in horror.
Most underrated, under appreciated Star Wars movie EVER!!!!
They hit it out of the park with that whole scene, just amazing! Wishing more of Star Wars could channel that.
That was one of the best endings in film history
Another winner....you ARE the BEST!!
The best part of the movie
I have watched most of these reactors when they did Rogue One. I don't know who Brinley is but her reaction was freaking incredible. That's a real Star Wars fan, right there.
Go and find her reaction, it's only a 3 minute video. There is the original and a re-upload by someone else with an edit. She is a Mormon that had come back from her mission and hadn't yet seen Rogue One because apparently Mormons can't watch these types of films while on mission.
I have watched her reaction many times, she seems like such a lovely young woman, she makes me tear up due to her passion, excitement and wholesomeness.
Amazing reaction as she pieces it all together. Easily my favourite reaction.
Vader was on their ass ðð― Everyone felt that scene!!!ðĨ
Rouge One is a great Star Wars movie!
Very close to being the best.
George going slackjawed is the best part
This is my favourite SW movie after the original Empire strikes back.
This scene is even better after watching Charles Cornell's video about how the music works with the tone of Vader's lightsaber.
I really want to watch movies with some of these people lmao. I suspect however that when not recorded, tame prevails
This is the only time where you get the understanding of just how powerful and hateful Vader is. After seeing this, you can understand why his own people are scared to talk to him.
I think this scene is a great example of how music can enhance the scene. Vader is already terrifying and the orchestra adds another layer
Being in the cinema and seeing this. Will stay with me till I die. So goatee
Brinley has the best reaction by far.
When you finished the entire campaign then go back to a early game side quest .
The actor that screamed LAUNCH deserves a raise
The most horrifying scene in a not-horror movie! ââââ
"Rogue One" is an amazing movie!!!
This was the scene we needed, to be afraid of Vader again.
The reaction of the Dad on top with his son says it all. His mind was still processing what he just witnessed.
Everytime I use Vader in Battlefront 2 I always think of this scene.
A whole spaceship running in fear of one man!
Got me emotional watching that again. That ending was such an intense, exciting and awesome moment in the theater.
I have to be honest MrLeboski is your fault i can't enjoy other match reactions because your work is to fucking perfect!
I can't hear anything in those other mashups.
Vader is such a coward. Making his emotional problems everyone else's problems. Not doing the hard work and fixing his own shit. That guy who, on being trapped with Vader, called "open fire" is a fucking hero.
I'm German, 62 years old and a fan since 1977. For me and other fans our age, "Rogue One" was the salvation. No "but all groups have to be represented" no "the heroes all have to survive" and especially no "Anakin is such a great guy, that would be my dream man, he's not evil" etc. That was Star Wars (if at all) for 7-8 year olds, just horrible. Yes, Darth Vader is evil, evil to the core, he doesn't just kill the young Jedi in the Jedi Palace, he kills everything. The Nazis and other mass murderers would have enjoyed him. No morals, no empathy, for him it's "I kill 10, 100, 1000 or 10,000 no matter how much. You can only survive against such a beast, such an "empire" if you sacrifice yourself. And that's what happens.
This scene reminds you just how horrifying the Sith were meant to be as villains. Just the scariest thing you could imagine running into.
Too bad they're not still this scary anymore. More cartoon villains at this point.
As I sip the can of beer I smuggled on my backpack in the theater... it feels like finaly something is complete.
Saw this in theaters the day after she died - very emotional ending
2:13 The Dads reaction
Bingo, I noticed it too - that man is in shock!
Best moment in StarWars history :)
I own this movie and I've watched this scene over 200 times!! I have it permanently set to start in that hallway... screw the rest of the movie - that's the best scene.
Now we know why Darth Vader is one of the most feared Sith Lords.
What an exceptional choice!
Brilliant edit yet again.
So good!
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
Hey leslye headland this how you bring in a cameo the right way and it makes sense.
Even i've seen it many times still get goosebumps and teary eyes.
I've never been a Star Wars guy, but this scene made me fear Vader. You've never seen this kind of... dominance from him in other films. It's a shame what's been done to Star Wars since, but this scene is epic.
Rogue one the best Star Wars film until now 2024. Greatness
Mr. Lebowski, You did it again, you are officially the Sith Lord of the Reactors! "All Hail Mr. Lebowski", By the way i love how they made a Whole movie to fix 1 biggest plotline of the whole original trilogy and did it soo well
This sequence and Luke appearing in the season two finale of the Mandalorian are the two high points of Disney Star Wars.
When ever i lost hope in the new Star Wars Franchise i remember that movie and it gives me the faith that there is still hope for a victory against the dark Gender Empire!
This was the height of Disney Star Wars. The future was so bright and the possibilities were endlessâĶ.
Someone has been reading too much Belgariad, lol.
The best of the new Star Wars films.
George went from giddiness to horror in 3 seconds. ð
Everyone only talks about Vader. To me the rebels bravery are the point, such badasses.
Same. I always felt a sense of pride and sadness for those soldiers. Their sacrifices did not go in vain.
When watching this the first time, at this point I thought to myself, what kind of Star Wars movie doesn't have lightsabers?? I was Not disappointed. This movie ranks with Empire.
This shows how absolutely bad ass Darth Vader became.
Haven't seen Darth Vader in awhile on the big screen since towards the end of Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Don't worry, folks... this scene continues at the beginning of Episode IV.
Anakin has a habit of efing around and forgetting the main mission objective.
The emperor's wrinkled forehead must be from all the face palms Vader made him do to himself.
