  • The new Lian Li Lancool 215 is a budget case with some serious airflow potential for its price but it also has some limitations you need to know about before you buy. It has some competition too versus the new Corsair 4000D, Cooler Master H500 Mesh and even the Lian Li Lancool II.

    • @guily6669
      @guily6669 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Well I already bought a like 25€ case for a cousin who really didnt want to spend much for the old computer and it even included a 450W crap power supply lol but the quality sucked so bad as off course...
Anyway the quality of this case is not that special, but the case is OK, it has super crazy airflow specially with 2 good top 140mm fans with high airflow, the ARGB looks cool even though I use it off, but has some faults which is the leds controller suck and use the reset button (so no reset button) and I don't think there's anyway to control fan speeds so if you have to connect extra fans in it you might end up with a jumbo jet :(...
My old case was like 180€ back in 2005 and is a Thermaltake Kandalf the super tower anb I fully modded it to orange and black and cut a new side window, it looks amazing and the quality is off course miles better, to make holes in it I had to go with a friend with an industrial driller because my driller wasn't working and hell even the industrial driller was loosing power and not cutting much good, the case alone is 20KG of pure steel.
Anyway with this new case I have like 10Cº less than my older HUGE HEAVY case with 2x 120mm fans in front, 1 120mm + 1 90mm on the back and another 90mm on the top but I have 2x 140mm ARGB fans on top of this new case (the main difference for the temps is really that the motherboard is on the top compared to bottom on my old case so the upper fans were only extracting cold air and basically only the 120mm on the back would push hot air out which now the motherboard is on top closer to the fans on the new case so both the back 120mm and 1 of the top 140mm are really efficient at removing hot air).
ps: You can either go with this case or Nox Hummer Nova (this is the actual case I have), they are basically the same case with minor differences and maybe there are even more same cases, this is probably some random Made in China case where brans just label and chose what they want in it...

If I didn’t already get the 500dx and was more concerned with lowering the budget on my build this is incredibly compelling. A lot of cases only include a single small fan in the back so the actual price of the case is skewed, but this has large decent fans with rgb!

Yeah what's wrong with this guy, he complains about the smallest most inconsequential things. To my eyes the case does not look cheaply built at all and in gearseekers high quality 4K footage video, the case looks great. Peoples expectations and their definition of quality has come a long way since i used to build in the 90's and 00's in Lian li's older aluminium cases. But you pay huge amounts for what you are getting. Even horrible old stainless steel cases back in the day that were supposedly premium did not get the most important things right. Lian Li were ahead then and were the go to case for modders and enthusiasts. They just work, and do a good job of cooling. And they had the features most people will need. And they were light but strong and tough.
Function over Form is what we need, Lian Li gives us this. Not great looks with premium cases that cost a lot, look blingy but actually underperform and aren't thought out well and well, kill your hardware. Lian Li has always been at the top of the list for quality, value, function and form with premium features, and in the past, Lian Li innovated way past some of the rubbish from other brands. Back then, cases from other manufacturers were not on Lian Li's level at the same price point. Lian Li were always leading the way. I think this guys expectations is too high and he is being ultra unrealistic with ultra expensive cases. Does this guy even know the history of Lian Li. They were the best cases out there. And they will be again.
The quality from a Lian Li will be more than adequate. It does not look cheap. My Coolermaster H500M is an expensive case, but one could say Coolermaster looks a little cheap with all the plastic. To me the Lian Li looks nice, and looks built well as it will be from Lian Li for the money you are paying. The features this case has are incredible considering what you are getting. I have seen upclose 4K video shots better than what this channel has captured, and the case looks very well built to me. It's a bargain. And i would buy this case from a known leader in premium quality cases industry in a flash than buy from some other brand. But i already have my H500M unfortunately. This case tempts me to buy.

I thought your overall review of this was somewhat lazy. A six plus minute review? Sure, there is not a lot to it but still... It's a $69 case from one of the base case manufacturers. Of course it is going to cut corners compared to premium cases, but from what I saw it still delivered incredible value, especially with 2 x front 200mm fans AND a rear fan? And a hub? A lot of cases in this price category, you're lucky two get one, let alone even two 120mm generic 3 pin fans. Good airflow, great temps, overall pretty decent support for anything you might put in it. Clearance at top and front for anything you might want. Looking at this, this looks to be a great case at a great price...

Idk, going to have to disagree. Can’t say to build quality, which is something you harped on, but a case with 2 rgb 200mm fans with included controller, a tempered glass side panel, dust filters, and rubber grommets seems like they hit the “important to have” features for a great price. Cases that usually add most of those extras have a $30 markup like NZXT or Corsair. As always, production quality is top notch, love you guys.

Definitely. Not quite sure what "premo" features this case is lacking that isn't fluff. Only reason I wouldn't get it is if you're big budget already and cheaping out on the case isn't that important. But even then, there's few cases that can compete with the thermals of P500A and Lancool Mesh II, let alone being so cheap, with all this space to put everything you want in it.

Sure the feel of a case is nice and all but in the end after building the system the only other times you are really going to touch it is when pressing the power button, plugging something in, doing some maintenance or doing a upgrade. In none of these the feel of the case matters (maybe pressing the power button but still) all that really matters is good performing case that doesn't stand out or is an eyesore.

Something has gone wrong here. The big downside is the cheap feel of the case, but the truth is most buyers aren’t going to be touching their system much, if at all, once it’s built. Sure, you do because of your job, but if you think that’s a catch, then on this occasion I think you’ve lost sight of what most buyers care about most. Glass, airflow permeable mesh, ARGB fans included. For the price it feels like you’re either being super picky or have unrealistic expectations on value.

I have one, an F15, and looking at the reviews it does seem almost identical to the 215 in the tooling, but slightly different front panel and a remote control for the fan speed and lighting control. And actually available right now in the UK from the usual retailers like Scan, CCL, AWD and Amazon. And no, I am not on commission from anyone, I wish I was!

Build quality is not great and the pain quality is below standard, which is not expected from Lian Li. I have been using this case for 4 months now and already it has started to become rusty. Top side paint got swollen and started to fall off. Disappointed.

  • @kylek29

Great case. But what's the point of the really large front fans if they're going to block half of it with sheet metal? It's like they wanted to use the Lancool 2's front tooling, which was designed for 140mm (and 120), but decided to slap the large fans on there. You'd hope that'd change in a production version, but I doubt it.

Wow not bad at all. With a dc/pwm fan controller to boot. I wonder if those 200mm fans can mount anywhere else. A 360mm push pull capable budget chassis is insane imo. Id consider an id cooling 360 with some arctic p120 pwm fans some good budget options....and actually get good gpu cooling since the bottom is perforated...comparaple to the mesh II side mesh door. With some 120mm fans mounted facing up....the "budget" aspect enables room for aio and 5pck fan budgets

This is just a random Made In China case, I have a Nox Hummer Nova and it's exactly the same. Same ARGB controller, it only has minor differences like the front I actually prefer the Nox which is a bit cleaner and without illuminated logos, I also prefer the Nox feets but the cable management definitely goes to Lian Li because on the Nox the spaces are all open without the black rubber.
It's actually a very cool case for the price, I only don't like the USB\buttons position above and the fact that there's no reset button, it's either used to control the leds or as reset button which suck, I wish they went with a IR controller for the ARGB instead and there's no fan speed control that I know off and I have my motherboard 5 fan controller connections in use, when connecting the top 140mm top fan that I bought the PC is crazy noisy, had to connect it to my GPU which has 2 extra fan controllers and now it's cool that the fan is always off unless playing a game when the GPU heats a bit it starts spinning (hope my next GPU also bring a fan controller or I'm screwed)...
But in terms of airflow it's quite a nice case, I lost close to 10Cº compared to my old case (with 2x 140mm ARGB bought fans for the top)...
