  • In this video I will be demonstrating and explaining 3 great drills that you can do to give you a sense and feel for how to properly shift the majority of your weight into your lead side. This is one of the most crucial skills in golf that can be directly correlated to a players skill level and how well they can strike the ball.

This is easily one of the most valuable golf videos I've ever seen. Presented clearly, there's no hemming and hawing and everything is well concisely explained. You're only a young man but you have a great future in golf instruction. Well done!

Agree with the comments below. I have also been told I'm an arm swinger and at age 53, the pains start to prove it. I found this video this winter and could hardly wait to start trying it. A few weeks ago I started hitting foam balls in my garage, trying the 3 drills. Amazing difference immediately and easy to get feedback. Played 9 holes today, first time since October, and shot a 42, which is great for the first round of the year, even getting an eagle on one par 5! Thanks for the drills, can't wait for the rest of the season now!

So many gems in this video; its the content of 5 videos in one. All my mistakes highlighted, I find it very hard to wait for the weight shift before starting my downswing but I will try these drills and see what changes…✅

Jonathan, you have improved my ball striking better than any other instructor on TH-cam. I went to the driving range after watching this video several times and hit a large bucket of balls without hitting any fat shots. Incredible. What you said about shifting all the weight of my body onto the leading leg did it for me. I often hit fat shots because I was releasing the club early and not shifting properly.
What I like about you is that you don't chit chat. You get to the point and show how it's done. Keep it up, you're doing a great job.

Can’t wait to try the third drill.
I feel like I shift pressure back in the backswing and also feel the majority of my pressure on my lead foot just before the start of the downswing, but I still find too much weight on my trail foot at the end of the swing.
    Thanks for sharing

Super excited to try these drills. I REALLY struggle with weight shift, and never take a divot after the ball. Its like i know what i need to do but my body resists on the down swing. My weight is always on my trailing toe as i finish the swing.

I've been struggling with weight shift and striking the ball first then the ground for a long time. These drills have helped a lot. Jonathan does a real excellent job of describing how to overcome these errors. It takes practice but it has made a big difference in my ball striking and consistency putting these drills into practice on the golf course.

That's a great video - thank you! One question --- I really like the first part of the video where you just start with all the pressure on your front foot. I'll try that at the range tomorrow and assuming it works well, why not just always hit like that? Meaning --- ignore the next two drills as the weight is already on the left foot at address. thanks!

  • @galleyo1648

Kept my weight on my left side today and played a miraculous round. Wow.

  • @MPerski
    @MPerski ปีที่แล้ว

    Another GREAT video, Jonathan 👍🏻
    One question tho…
I feel like I frequently hit my irons toward the toe of the clubface. I suspect I am pressing my weight into my left HEEL 🤔
Should I shift my weight more toward the left TOE? (to promote an inside out path?)
I do have some lateral foot pain, so perhaps I’m shying away from shifting my weight to the outside of the left foot 🤷🏼‍♂️
One of the best golf instructors on TH-cam!
p.s. the “Step Forward” after impact drill is a Gary Player move ☝🏻

It‘s my third season of golf and I started this spring trying to do that weight shift. When it works I can see a much better shot (especially with the driver) but at the same time I struggle with the correct timing. I see many hours of training ahead of me to get it right.

Careful, Fred. While some of this applies to the driver swing (and to varying degrees), this is mostly a tutorial on solid iron striking. The swings are very different. In some ways, they are opposite.
