    I love this livery on this class 55, just ordered mine on the second run, can't wait for it to come, i would love to get an Accurascale class 37 in network rail yellow livery, they sold out very quickly(they didn't produce enough of them, great review of a lovely classic loco.

      I’ve ordered a purple one from the new run as well. Missed out first time around cause I didn’t have a deposit available in time. Can’t wait.

      I'm glad they're making a second run of these for everyone. I have a 37 coming in but I'm thinking i should have purchased the network rail version, myself. I'm fairly positive they'll make another run of them just like the 55s. Thanks tons for weighing in!

      @@DoctorHobby Surly the manufacturers know how sought after the network rail and RTC livery items are? Accurascale are probably the only manufacturer left with realistic prices with amazing value for money, I ordered a Europhoenix ROG class 37, Hornby do a version of both class 37’s, I’m not a fan of their railroad range, it’s not value for money, maybe if they produced a super detailed versions I would probably buy one.

      @@DoctorHobbyI got a Accurascale class 37 in network rail yellow livery, it is superb in so many ways.

    Thank you for the review. I have bought mine and it is in London. My layout is is Sri Lanka and can’t wait to try it on. Your comment on the end the front wheels derailing might be an issue but let’s see. I had the same with my class 47 Bachman but I managed to fix it now. Hope the tolerance is same. Cheers.

      Of, it’s wonderful to meet a model railroader from Sri Lanka of all places! Best of luck with that long truck! I, sure you’ll be fine, tho!

    It's amazing how much effort it can be to get track "debugged" against the collection of engines and rolling stock one has in possession. Well at least for me then. It's almost enough to think that the best approach is a pan flat track layout. And yet one sees otherwise out in the wild and all I can figure is I've been doing it wrong. Anyway another possibility perhaps mentioned already is a twist in the engines body resulting in some instances in an pre mature unloading of the truck and derailment.

      You’re tellin’ me… it’s amazing when you think you’ve got a track going, and then, BAM!, new locomotive discovers even more faults.

    I think you need to try a Bachmann class 37 deluxe. They have the fans, sound, windows, etc

      @gilbertporter4992 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm interested n the deluxe spinnung fan 37 myself but can't find anything in stock. Hopefully Bachmanns next run I will get one before they go out of stock as they where announced and released on one day.

    • @StormmyStormmy

      They do look amazing, the prices are too high and the liveries are limited, a Harry Needle orange/grey or a DB Schenker red would be superb, even a Europhoenix livery or even a rail freight grey with a red sole bar would be great in the deluxe version, we live in hope.

    What you called truck retention chains are actually hand brake chains! One of a couple of weak points on this loco the other being the lower front handrails on the nose which stick out too far. A excellent first loco from Accurascale ( I have this one plus 55018 Ballymoss) hopefully they will have learnt the lessons from the few issues with this release.

    • @DoctorHobby
      @DoctorHobby  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh! No kidding! I didn't have any idea that chains were part of that process in any way. When the brake is on do the chains pull on the braking mechanism within the trucks or something like that?

    I liked your full review of this locomotive, although you use a bit of American terminology. I have ordered one of the second batch, on which Accurascale have promised a few improvements, including revising the mounting for the bogie chains. Those ancient Hornby Golden Arrow Pullman coaches would not have run with the Deltic, and most probably had the horrible plastic axles that cannot be adjusted for back to back measurements. The real Deltics in earlier years (not in the modern purple livery) did haul Pullman coaches, of the general style of the Hornby ones you used, but they were still in the old umber and cream livery, and later some much more modern Pullmans in a reversed grey and blue livery to the basic design of the BR mark 1 coaches, nothing like the Hornby models. Hornby do have some much better Pullman coaches nowadays.
    Personally, I agree with you in that I like the purple livery as it was applied very sympathetically to the Deltic's lines, as were the green livery variations. The BR blue did nothing for the very deep plain sides of the Deltics. For this, Accurascale's first locomotive model, I think they have surpassed most of the contemporary British manufacturers' efforts. Thanks you for a good, comprehensive run down on this model.

      Oh, I forgot to mention: that loose swivelly bit at the top of each nose is a lamp iron, used to mount an oil lamp, a white disc, or a headboard for a named train. It should be fixed, so needs a spot of glue to stop it moving.

    • @DoctorHobby
      @DoctorHobby  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts! Like usual, those coaches were sitting around and seemed to run well with the train--except for those terrible wheels! Good thing I had extras lying around. Probably in the future I'll upgrade the coaches to something else as companies like Accurascale start to come out with better looking coaches. Take care and happy model railroading!

      @@DoctorHobby Thanks. 🙂
      I didn't mean any of that as a criticism for running the Golden Arrow Pullmans, I merely wanted to fill you in a bit more on them and their origins. The named train 'Golden Arrow' ('Fleche d'Or' in France) ran from London Victoria to Folkestone/Dover in south east England (I used to see it from my grandparents' house), with a ferry connection to the French equivalent. In the real world, Deltics ran from London Kings Cross to the north (Leeds and Edinburgh), although they did go on the odd excursion, even to the south of London, but to the best of my knowledge, never to Dover or Folkestone - not that any of this really matters when you are running it as a test train anyway, and it's your railway so you really can run whatever you like. 🙂 The purple Deltic was a modern variation and could run on almost anything you want. As you surmised, Porterbrook was a leasing company so their trains could end up almost anywhere in the UK.
      As before, please keep up the great work.

    Just put a Kato mechanism in with a "Made in Japan" motor - like the ones they produced in the early 2000 and you get a Lexus engine ! Chinese motors are just crap. You need to buy them in bulk of 50 to get 1 running smoothly. And yes, put some serious track down on your layout... and fix it properly. Enjoy the 55 ! By the way: Hornby 'Railroad Range' might look toy like but they produced some excellent and refined steam engines with Miles better quality than the Bachmann junk that don't even have proper wheel bearings nor tender pickups. And if you like 'British' steam engines check out the new Dapol GWR Manor Class in OO gauge.
    Accurascale brings the same Manor Class to market very soon too. Will be interesting to compare. Happy model railroading & success... also with the track (!)

      I think we are at a bit of a crossroads when it comes to midweek trains right now.. It's obvious that Accurascale probably had to cut some corners in this model to keep it at the price point they did.. I know they've had these criticisms from others online, so we'll see what they choose to do about it going forward, but it might mean that they have to modify their pricing scheme..
