- Le Concert des Nations o.l.v. Jordi Savall speelt het eerste deel van het slotconcert 'La Suite Française' van het Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht 2010. Op het programma staan de 'Suite Alceste' van Lully en de 'Suite Alcione' van Marais.

À cette époque, on savait prendre son temps sur la route du paradis afin de profiter des multiples cadeaux que la nature offrait. Mille mercis à Jordi SAVALL de respecter le tempo de la partition et de nous permettre d'admirer ce magnifique moment du passé musical. Il sait nous faire apprécier la majestueuse scansion des mélodies royales de Lully. Et pourtant, il y a du rythme, même du vent et de la joie dans ces airs magistraux., alors, pourquoi les interprètes n'affichent-ils pas une mine réjouie et épanouie ? Seraient-ils impressionnés par l'ambiance née de l'image virtuelle qu'ils ont créée par la seule vertu de leur interprétation, des fastes de Versailles et du Monarque absolu qui y règne au travers de l’œuvre du Maître ? Allons, les amis du concert des Nations, la glorieuse Révolution Française a fait de nous tous, les égaux et les frères des princes. Alors, réjouissez-vous !
In French Baroque music I find such a inexplicable spirit at the core. It is something organic, full of youthful joy, captivating, and brimming with masculine power merging with elegant and tender femininity, in perpetual balance with one another. There is a spark of the divine, of transcendence, juxtaposed with the passions, whims, and fragility of humankind. It is the music of complimentary duality, like a audible representation of Yin and Yang. Creation itself is contained in the spirit of this music. With all that the spirit of creation encompasses I find it so hard to pin down and define this music.

Jordi's gift is apparent in all he does. He creates a sound that transports you to the period effortlessly. You know an audience is in a trance for them to take that long to start clapping.
This is probably one of the most magnificent classical live concerts of Lully I've come across. Truly Magical👏🎶🌋💙🌎

On ne se lasse jamais de Jordi Savall avec son choix de musique et de musiciens. J'ai eu le plaisir de le renconter avec Montserrat Figueras et Pedro Estevan plusieurs fois au cours des années aussi bien aux USA qu'en France. J'aime bien le fait qu'il dirige avec ses mains. C'est une éxtension de son ésprit.

La musique baroque c'est ma passion. Mon preferé c'est J.S. Bach, un magnifique musicien Allemand. Mais il y a quelques gens qui disent qu'il est pre-renascentiste. Ça c'est une autre discussion, pardonnez moi pour mentionner Bach.
La musique baroque est merveilleuse n'importe pas la nation d' origine.
Cet éspetacle est superb, vraiment parfait.

Welche Pracht und kraftvolle französische Barockmusik. Die musikalische Prachtentfaltung am französischen Königshof unter Ludwig dem vierzehnten wird deutlich. Herrlich, mit sicheren Instinkt hat der französische König sich in Lully unsterblich gemacht, denn er hat sich in ihm verewigt zum Glanz seines prächtigen Königtums. Vive le roi !
Die politischen Reiche sind vergangen, die Musik Lully lebt fort und kündet von seinem und des Königs Ruhm.

Ces compositeurs étaient au contact de la nature, et cela s'entend dans leurs oeuvres, à cette époque, pas de pollution, pas de bruits industriels...(à part peut-être les cannons et les armes à feu !) Mais en tout cas ,pas dans l'environnement proche des gens...Magnifique orchestre dirigé par un grand spécialiste de cette musique...Une grâce,une élévation de l'esprit...Merci Amis musiciens et leur chef :Jordi Savall...Magnifique ! If one enjoys listening to the baroque one would also appreciate the baroque in art and architecture. A period of grace and tranquility, none could rival it in terms of grandeur or pleasantness. As you said didier d'agostino, it glorifies nature, no pollution, no noise, and indeed, no industrialisation. Only the bliss of love could rival such heavenly beauty. I dream of more people like Jordi Savall or William Christie! Vive la baroque!

Oh yes, he does smile. I've seen him at least three times in Seattle doing early music concerts with smaller ensembles. He enjoys performing and making people's lives richer through his vast knowledge and skill of older music.
