This older music is lovely! I wish more people embraced this genre and demanded it on their local classical radio stations. It's so very soulful, isn't it?!!
Agreed, except advertisers don't want to sponsor beautiful, eclectic music that is out of the mainstream of standard, generic, run-of-the-mill classical music. There's no return for their money in it. The vast scope of classical music listeners only want the wretched mediocrity of Haydn, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky and what have you.
It so speaks so deeply to my Soul. It always has since my mid teens. I find it very soothing, even now, though I am no longer young but still young at heart.
The hall has a fine, lively acoustic quality that's lending a bright glassy tone to the upper partials on the bowed strings. Almost what you might call a magical sound. I love this artist! Thank you for posting this performance.

Su maestro Hopkinson Smith, debe estar muy satisfecho de su alumno.

Bravo, Xavier, tocas uno de los instrumentos mas extraordinarios que ha concebido el espíritu humano. Siempre pienso en el tipo de música que han de tocar los ángeles para recibir a las buenas almas a su llegada al paraíso, y entonces basta con escuchar a Monsieur de Visée y a alguien como tú desgranando una a una las notas de la partitura para que me entren deseos de estar allá.
Unos buenos interpretes unidos a unos excelentes compositores como Gaspar Sanz y Cía. dan estos momentos de música que tanto agradecemos y que esperamos poder seguir disfrutando.

In het begin van het stuk klinkt het als "Ack Värmeland du sköna" Een wemoedig lied over Värmland. Het stemt ook met de danspassen(tacten en intonatie) van sommige dansen hier. in Zweden. Ps ik was volkdansleisdster en "dansare" vele jaren. Zweden heeft een lange "spelemans-traditie".

+Folies Amsterdam I'd like to add my thanks, what beautiful music. I find the viola da gamba so much more interesting tonally than the more modern instruments. It never sounds sickly sweet, but is able to move you. Xavier's playing on tthe early guitar is wonderful too. I'd love to have been there in person!

wow, how could there be empty seats everywhere? Here in Belgium it's quite impossible to see him play, as people with seasons tickets get first pick :(
Well actualy I did not make any picture during the playing when most seats were occupied because it can distract both listeners and players during a concert, so seats were filled up.. But since I got a visitor from America I could book the second seat at the second balcony a few days in advance. I always have the best seat at row one in the middle booking at the first date available so we swiched our seats in the break.Considering other concerts I think the attention for Díaz-Latorre and Savall is unusually high in my perception. Come over to the Netherlands, because his girlfriend lives in the city of Utrecht so he gives a few concerts here; -)
These coughers don't really need to cough for medical reasons...they cannot play a single note of this exquisite music but they have to leave their mark somehow. Pathetic!
