This is a disaster waiting to happen. Vietnam should install traffic signals to prevent accidents with pedestrians.
It would be helpful to have them!
@ActionKid I believe your demonstration is not only helpful but most necessary. as many people can not effectively perform that task easily due to their physical limitations, such as people with disabilities, older people, or young mothers escorting young children

The roads are wide and the buildings are tall and beautiful, but why is it so difficult to install traffic signals?
There are many in there, but main problems have derived from traffic signals' positions, poor driving habits and overpopulation

That is some intense traffic. I don't know how you manage to cross those streets in Vietnam. I know that in Edmonton, we have a lot of bad drivers, because they run through red lights, drive terribly, and don't always stop for pedestrians at crosswalks. It does require a lot of care when crossing the streets. Cheers! ✌️

I lived over in Haiphong for a year. On the busy van Coa Street. Always crossing to get to either the Mia bar. which was a nice rock bar... was it really 2016!!! now just plays pop crap so I understand and the delicious texas bbq. Medium ribs pls...
You actually cross slowly and stay at a consistent speed. Don't have the mentality that I'm walking here, cause eventually you will meet a rider saying the same. Probably one of us foreigners, who will loose his deposit...
Most of the scooters see you, and judge if they can get past in front or behind.. they don't want an accident any more than you...
Never did work out what the bicycle street vendors were shouting.

There are plenty of traffic lights in NYC and it's still like the wild west. In Vietnam although there are no traffic lights they all seem to be respectful of each other. Organized chaos.

I see enough of this nonsense in New York City.
You can't compare NYC with that place. At least NYC has traffic lights. NYC is way safer for pedestrians than Vietnam. And I know that in a lot of NYC streets are not too safe for pedestrians, but Vietnam beat NYC by far.

Yes, but I mean I am seeing more and more New Yorkers walking against traffic even if there are traffic lights that have turned red against them. That is they will deliberately cross at a walking pace knowing there is on coming traffic, not even looking on the direction of the cars, crossing with the full expectation of the cars to slow and avoid them, including buses.
