    It really is a shame how out of touch music distributors are with copyright claim, lots of people are never exposed to tons of music because of the archaic system. Hopefully one day they'll lighten up on how harsh they enforce copyright protection so that new generations can be exposed to a treasure trove of older music.

      it's such a fucking enigma that we live in a time with readily accessible databases of nearly every song ever recorded and yet discoverability and exploration of these databases gets shot in the foot because old executives dont understand the tools young people are using to experience music

      I think the whole business side of the music industry is really starting to get out of touch and really needs to readjust their priorities because now it’s becoming nigh impossible to get concert tickets and you’ll practically break the bank when you do get a ticket. All because Ticketmasters greediness.

      @@Brandnewriot001 Honestly, the music really adds to the feel of this particular simulator as before you start work, you begin jamming to some tunes to help gain some motivation and since Vinny actually did some powerwashing, what we are watching is basically the full experince of the job.

    every time vinny mentions never getting Steely Dan, I'm always surprised. I know people can like whatever they want and i dont mean for people to force music on him, but certain songs have sounds and elements that i really figure would appeal to him, whether it be a specific guitar tone, solo, immaculate production, etc. I think a big part of it is that some songs have very little jazzy elements while others are drenched in it, and often Donald Fagen's lyrics are satirical plays on the mainstream adaptation of jazz and jazz culture applied to themes like nostalgia and patriotism, which we know from vinny's recent jazz discussion in Stray that he just isnt too familiar with. If anyone is interested in getting an accessible overview of Steely Dan and Donald Fagen's solo work, I'd say Weather in my Head, Reelin in the Years, The Nightfly, Peg, and Deacon Blues are the songs to check out. I really hope more people can "get" the band, because the production and quality on some of their tracks is mesmerizing.

    • @Faucetofstone
      @Faucetofstone 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I was surprised to but then not. A lot people who are into punkier sounds I find don't "get" Steely Dan. That first album Can't Buy a Thrill is fucking great. The other two songs I'd put on here are Kid Charlemagne and King of the World. The latter being weird and dark as shit in the best way.

    • @UmJammerChelle
      @UmJammerChelle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I generally don't care much for Steely Dan myself for some reason despite liking similar bands. I think it's partially because growing up I always blindly associated them with bands like Aerosmith that I couldn't stand and I still have that lingering bias against them for no real reason. I do like Reelin' in the Years though.

    • @vinesauce

    • @thewizardninja
      @thewizardninja 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Even simpler than that, I feel like it shouldn't be too far of a stretch to extend the business music license to include streamers. Restaurants and retailers only have to pay a yearly fee and they get access to a huge amount of music they can have on in the background, I don't see why streamers would be exempt from this model.

    There was a playlist on TH-cam a few years ago that I used to listen to to discover new music and animators. It was called something like Fuckin' Awesome Music Videos. It had nearly six hundred songs in multiple different languages animated by people from all around the world. Then the creator's account got banned for creating the playlist, and it was gone. If it hadn't been for that playlist I wouldn't have discovered some of my modern favourites like Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Breakbot.
    Copyright is seriously broken and too heavily favours those who already have money and have recovered the costs of production and distribution decades ago.

    When I was a kid/younger, I was one of those that was like "Oh this 'old' stuff that my Dad listens to is 'lame' because it's so 'old'!". But in college, I started realizing how truly great this music really is and getting into classic rock, and became a huge fan. How I see it now, for music or movies or books or whatever, if something is GOOD, it's GOOD, no matter how old it is (I'm a big Buster Keaton fan too, for example). Now, over the past few years, I've seen Queen (my favorite band), The Rolling Stones, and The Who live, even in their 70's, because they can still ROCK! (even if it's not quite the same, they've still definitely got some greatness in there IMO)

    Funny enough, Phil Collins did a lot of drum work for Peter Gabriel 3: Melt, and the gated drum sound in Intruder was Phil's work. Peter's influence was merely him banning cymbals for the track, which Phil obliged and thus debuted the gated drum.

    Listened to the album in full earlier today. I only really know Peter Gabriel's main hits (Solsbury Hill, your eyes, sledgehammer, etc) and some of his Genesis era. I liked it! Its not all stuff I would go out of my way to listen to, but pretty much all stuff I like. Favorite tracks were I Don't Remember and Family Snapshot, liked those a lot. Previously, I'd listened to The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway when Vinny was recommending that, and while I appreciated it as a full album experience, prog rock was never really my thing. This was much more my speed. Out of the two, I've always been more of a Phil Collins guy, but I'll have to fill in more of what I've missed from Gabriel now

    There are three people at my work who are 22 or younger and basically anything before 2012 is old shit to them that they won't consider listening to. 90's and early 2000s is basically dad rock now, and music from 1980s may as well be grandfather rock now. I understand that people don't really like to listen to music made before they were born, much like how I think video games before I was born in 1991 are old as hell, but it surprised me that they wouldn't even consider listening to music made at least in their early lifetime. Thanks for reading, and power washing kinda sucks to do IRL.

    Today we learned that Vinny is a very sloppy cleaner and I'd not let him clean my kitchen.

    So is there any downside to using the 40° nozzle in this? It didn't really seem like there was any significant loss in power or range, so why not just use that for maximum coverage?

    • @Luciferspit
      @Luciferspit 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Having played the game, the 40° nozzle really is only for surface level dirt, I almost never used it. It barely washes anything. You're better off using the 15° nozzle (the yellow one) for almost everything, or else you'll need to pass over the same dirt 120 times until it's clean.

    I grew up with my dad's copy of Shaking The Tree, but looking at the original tracklists, I think Melt might be Gabriel's best album just for Games Without Frontiers and Biko. His upbeat songs are fantastic (I like Big Time more than Sledgehammer, fight me), but his slow and serious stuff is on another level.

    i appreciate the letting students use red vox for their projects, but as a college student it'd really help if there were some documentation i could cite saying it's open to use and i can reference that rather than seemingly using copyrighted material

    I like this game but it is frustrating looking for tiny slivers of dirt-surfaces. I get nauseous from holding my breath every time I play it but there's something about that ding from cleaning things... Dopamine Ding.
