@sylvy16 doesn't work, still shows them it. I can't look at the walking dead game on a child account, but explicit games are unavoidable. Nintendo should just get rid of it, serves no purpose.
I’m still disappointed that they REFUSE to have a “Cart” function. Just give us a Cart Nintendo. Make me giving you money EASIER pls.
This is a company that would rather have it's old games cease to exist than allow fans who would happily *pay* for said games actually be able to buy them from Nintendo directly rather than having to pay through the nose for a copy so old it may or may not even work anymore. They're so busy banning rom hacks and emulators that are just trying to let the fans still play the games we want to play, so they can drip feed us one or two games they think we should be wanting to play, that they don't have time to actually make the e-shop good, or to put all the old snes/nes/gba/ds games etc on the nintendo -emulator- online membership page.

Steam has a cool feature that lets you mark a game as "played on another platform" so it will stop recomending it in the store, while using it to recomend further titles.
I still don't understand why it's so painfully sluggish to the point of making people not want to open the store. It's almost like the browser it's using has no image cache and it's using software rendering. There is no excuse for these basic menus to run worse than a Gen 1 Fire Tablet.
It was a conscious decision to have the eShop use as little ram as possible, just because they still wanted you to be able to open it without you having to close your game. That's why it runs so terrible

I 100% agree with you……I don’t understand why the H word can be in the pictures……there is only one meaning for it and as a parent I defiantly don’t want my kids to look at the eshop.
Seriously. I don't care if they can't click on the game to see what it's about. Curious kids will see that word in 20 percent of the games in the store and look it up on the internet to see what it means. It should be effortless for Nintendo to just update the store so that it doesn't show those games at all. It wouldn't even be considered an algorithm it's so simple.
I would like to add that some shovel ware and Luigi games have multiple bundles and editions that don't really add anything to the game. They do that because every new bundle is labeled as a "New release" and appears once again in the recent releases tab, exploiting the system.
My solution is delete it entirely and try again from the ground up. Switch 2 fingers crossed. Whilst they're at it, give us music back, give us custom themes back for the home screens. Have some soul & character.
Being able to use Decky (which is 3rd party but still) to actually breathe some life into the Deck aesthetically has been so nice compared to how utterly sterile the experience is on the Switch.
lol I remember when the Switch first launched, a lot of Nintendo fans said "just wait, the Eshop will surely be updated to reflect the 3ds or Wii U's eshop!" And here we are 8 years later, and the eshop is still the same as launch
I’m a user in Korea. When I bought Switch, Korean account weren’t available so I created an US account. I registered my credit card info in eShop. I had no problem buying digital games using my US account. Out of nowhere and suddenly, I wasn’t able to buy digital game from my US account ‘cuz my (already) registered credit card was blocked. This happened about couple of years ago. Nintendo Switch eShop truely and totally sucks.
Nintendo added that “‘measure” to avoid players switching their country accounts and purchasing games with the foreign exchange “discounts “. I’m affected too.
Okay I just thought the slow load time for the Eshop was because of my terrible internet. Kinda good to know it’s like that for everyone 🥴 100% agree with this entire video, thanks for bringing this up, Wood!👏🏻
No, my Internet is super fast for everything else (163Mbps) but the eShop drags and only lets you scroll a few rows before it has to load again for several seconds.
When it says over 2000 games in the great deals and it only shows maybe 300 of them before they completely stop loading the rest. I'm literally missing out on the majority of what's actually on the eshop.
Tbh, my main problem with the switch is Nintendo's service. From generic profiles with no unique artstyles to terrible online. In addition, some features are region-locked such as 'Mission & Rewards'' and custom profiles even if you are an online service member. It's is disappointing that they prioritize adding Old games that 90% of users don't care about rather than upgrading their services.
5:25 how does the switch not have a graphic content filter that’s on by default as a requirement??? They are 10000% aware that the majority of their users are children. This is clearly negligent behavior. Disgusting
Using "Luigi content" in this way is one of the reasons I think AI will never truly be able to take over lol. Luigi makes no sense here yet we all understand lmao
Nintendo could at least hire some people to routinely check the recently uploaded, and the search, then they need to report any luigi corn they find to someone working at nintendo so they can take it down
The funniest thing is nintendo has had this filter since the 3DS (maybe DSI), as far as i remember, where with the wii u it got worse, less options, but people could rate games, as in they would answer a few questions, like "ratings", "casual/non casual (with a better naming, like they hit the mark), questions regarding genre, difficulty etc. and there were lists based onthose votes. and very restricted too, as to a few categories they would give you, but those categories made sense and were game essential
Atrocious. Literally advertising adult content to kids on a primarily kids platform. It's almost like going to chuckie cheeses or Disneyland and the games and attractions are like this. Insane. Why is this acceptable
Which is why I have given up and rely on TH-cam to tell me what good games exist in that cesspit, and if it’s on Steam I buy it there instead and play it on my steam deck.
My biggest issue even besides the non-existent filter functionality and content moderation, is the fact that it doesn't show the games you already have physically. It's so easy to go "ah they have save data for this game, so they probaboy have it".
I think Nintendo’s solution to the ‘Luigi content’ is to force you to enter your Nintendo account password every time you go into the eShop and in theory your child isn’t suppose to know your password. That keeps kids from spending money without the parents knowing, especially if they have a credit card saved or credits in their account. My 5 year old has his own switch and has accidentally clicked on the eShop several times, but it opens to an ‘enter password’ screen. Now I’m not sure if that’s an option you can change (to have it not ask for your PW every time) and I wouldn’t know where or how to change it, but I know my 4 switches have always asked…so idk.
tbh all they had to do was rework the 3DS eShop for one screen. completely ignore the Wii U eShop. but no, God forbid Nintendo do things that make sense.
I rarely comment on videos, but the amount of games on the switch that have physical copies alone is astounding. Whatever service replaces the switch’s digital store really just needs to have a better filter on what gets in and what doesn’t.
@@AlbedoAtoned yep that’s the game I was thinking of, Vroom released March 3rd 2017, same day the Switch launched. If you had a Japanese or European eShop account, it was there day 1. It later released in April on the North American eShop.
@@joshua.h Unfortunately they did not. The Wii was very well known for it's shovelware, and even on the wii shop there were shovelware titles and even some "Luigi" games as BeatEmUps would have called them. The Wii U also carried on that trend with titles like Epic Dumpster Bear and Meme Run.
Let's not forget that during the Wii U era, Nintendo updated the main page of the eshop every week with new art and sometimes changed the music. Nothing was lagging because it was an app and not a browser like on the Switch and the filters were also better. I don't understand what happened.
My least favourite part is when i want to buy multiple games/DLC, I buy one thing, and instead of hitting continue shopping and going back to where I was, I go back to the start, and I have to type what I was searching again
My work around for this is instead of choosing "close" or "continue shopping", I press B to go back. It doesn't always work but most of the time it will get you right back to where you were. Only sometimes it will reload the great deals page.
It also has to be mentioned how publishers, mainly RedDeerGames, are making use of eShop's issues. They KNOW the recent tab is what people like to browse so they keep releasing different "editions" of their games to stay prevalent there. Last time I checked, there were over 20 "editions" of AAA Clock. All of them just the same game but with a slightly different mix of included DLC.
Nintendo is just a ball of hypocrisy now. They'll try to be as family friendly as possible, but you'll see all of those Luigi games right there up front AND EVEN WITH A CHILD ACCOUNT. They don't want you to emulate games, yet they take away access to games, like they did with Mario Sunshine and Galaxy. They have a big head right now, and usually when that happened in the past, the next generation just didn't perform sales wise nearly as well.
Not only do they not want you to emulate, they want to to either buy their re-released port for full price, or....pay for their own online services to emulate games 🤦

Curious kids will see that word in 20 percent of the games in the store and look it up on the internet to see what it means. It should be effortless for Nintendo to just update the store so that it doesn't show those games at all. It wouldn't even be considered an algorithm it's so simple.
The luigi word means pervert that's why they get away with it
@@joshua.h your not being real if you think they don’t see that without that word added I’ve googled Pokémon and seen worse lol
I genuinely thought the lag was because I just had bad internet 😭😭😭
I would like to add that some shovel ware and Luigi games have multiple bundles and editions that don't really add anything to the game. They do that because every new bundle is labeled as a "New release" and appears once again in the recent releases tab, exploiting the system.
It's Nintendo. They still think the internet is a fad.
Yet they use a webpage for the eshop, lol.
My solution is delete it entirely and try again from the ground up. Switch 2 fingers crossed. Whilst they're at it, give us music back, give us custom themes back for the home screens. Have some soul & character.
Switch 2 = wiiu of switch. 75-90% chance this happens I would say
@@Reaktron88 wii u was great co sole that didnt sell well beacuse of bad marketing
@@gren_3352 Well naming it "Wii U" was part of that bad marketing.
THIS!! do you know how much i'd pay for a splatoon themed home screen, or an animal crossing themed home screen???
at best probably like 10-15 dollars
Being able to use Decky (which is 3rd party but still) to actually breathe some life into the Deck aesthetically has been so nice compared to how utterly sterile the experience is on the Switch.
lol I remember when the Switch first launched, a lot of Nintendo fans said "just wait, the Eshop will surely be updated to reflect the 3ds or Wii U's eshop!"
And here we are 8 years later, and the eshop is still the same as launch
I’m a user in Korea. When I bought Switch, Korean account weren’t available so I created an US account. I registered my credit card info in eShop. I had no problem buying digital games using my US account. Out of nowhere and suddenly, I wasn’t able to buy digital game from my US account ‘cuz my (already) registered credit card was blocked. This happened about couple of years ago. Nintendo Switch eShop truely and totally sucks.
literally 1984
Nintendo added that “‘measure” to avoid players switching their country accounts and purchasing games with the foreign exchange “discounts “. I’m affected too.
Okay I just thought the slow load time for the Eshop was because of my terrible internet. Kinda good to know it’s like that for everyone 🥴 100% agree with this entire video, thanks for bringing this up, Wood!👏🏻
Same here dude. I’m glad it’s not just me!!
me too. lmao
@@victoria126 😂😂🥴🥴
Same here so I'm really glad to know it wasn't my bad internet.
Disgusting
The Eshop really sucks
Thats the video 😂
It's riding that it's been like this for 7 years. I mostly purchase month games on my phone because it's allot faster and easier to find stuff
The worst ESHOP to date

Using "Luigi content" in this way is one of the reasons I think AI will never truly be able to take over lol. Luigi makes no sense here yet we all understand lmao

nintendo: We're very family friendly
also nintendo: Let's allow corn games on our eShop!
Nintendo could at least hire some people to routinely check the recently uploaded, and the search, then they need to report any luigi corn they find to someone working at nintendo so they can take it down
*Luigi

I recently got one and I'm in love with it
Steam is amazing.
No quality control ANYMORE? It never had quality control, from Day 1 in 2017 you could find junky broken games on the eShop for Switch.
Like Vroom in the Night Sky. And games like Troll and I came out the first year too.
@@AlbedoAtoned yep that’s the game I was thinking of, Vroom released March 3rd 2017, same day the Switch launched. If you had a Japanese or European eShop account, it was there day 1. It later released in April on the North American eShop.
I think he means no quality control anymore as in back in the days of the Wii they had good quality control.
@@rpglife7268 oh awesome thanks, I din't know about this one, but I'll be sure to use it next time I'm there
It also has to be mentioned how publishers, mainly RedDeerGames, are making use of eShop's issues.
Timmy: *emulates a 30 year old game*
Nintendo: OMFG WE JUST LOST 101% OF OUR PROFITS
Not only do they not want you to emulate, they want to to either buy their re-released port for full price, or....pay for their own online services to emulate games 🤦
Everything went downhill after Iwata passed away.
0:05 wow nice family you have there
I scrolled for like 30 seconds in the Eshop and immediately saw Luigi content… I don’t go to that place.
was anyone else surprised when they opened the e-shop for the first time at saw all these "luigi games"
Yeah for all the bragging about Nintendo is the console for families I’ve seen from people for years I wasn’t expecting all the…luigi games. And them appearing for the parental control option for families is concerning
@@onceortwiceoohuntill now nintendo really was a console for families, but they are somehow really dropping the ball lately (paid online jnstead of free like they always used to, all these luigi games and no way to filter them out are just 2 examples)
Well 3 or so years ago it wasn't like this.
Yeah it's annoying af
A lot of the Luigi content is like the same 12ish games but they constantly get refreshed into the top recent releases because they "bundle" the game with a dlc for a dollar or two so it refreshes with the "bundle" being a "new" release.
Ive seen people saying that these games get rereleased and go on sale every other week so thats why theyre always trending.
Man that's not even good Luigi content, that's Luigi shovelware.
