Agreed. I love that this specific instance of humor also serves a secondary purpose - it helps relieve any tension left in the player after the Mollie chase.
The thing I love about Indigo Park is that the mascot characters look like actual cartoon characters that would be used in real life. Most mascot horror lean into the uncanny valley or are designed to be sarcastic parodies. The Indigo Park mascots look like characters that would genuinely be greenlit for a real life show or theme park.
I could easily imagine Rambley being an actual character in a kids show. They clearly put effort in the character design, something you don't see all that often in this genre
reminded me a lot of the character designs from the pizza plex in FnaF: Security Breach, and the style of the park's different "sections" around the fountain in the middle reminded me of friendly neighborhood and also poppy chapter 3
@@bibblyboing i wouldn't call it uncanny, but it did indeed remind me a lot of freddy when i saw the cartoon version, but hey, inspiration and whatnot, FnaF: SB is likely a big inspiration for the creator
I always like how Manly can just sit quietly and let intros, music, and dialogue play without talking over it. He doesn’t feel the need to be “on” every minute and chattering and keeping focus on him. He’s here to play a game for us and that means playing it, not loudly rambling for an hour and a half and then struggling to find stuff and get the story because he talked over the instructions. It’s why I love watching him. Makes his jokes funnier and his videos more engaging.
MBH has an approach that’s more reminiscent of older Let’s Plays, especially the ones that just lacked in-video commentary altogether. Early 2010s incentivized personality and content over taking a game on its own merits
I really miss old school LP channels, the ones where content creators played games they were REALLY passionate about, almost to the point where they turn it into an entertaining walkthrough, keeping track of statistics and progress, paying attention to the story and summarizing plot points for those viewers who might be behind, highlighting fun little behind the scenes trivia details about the game or some rare easter eggs, and most importantly seeing a game through to its ending. Most lets play channels these days treat the games they're playing like an inconvenience, or something to compete against for their viewers attention span. _"Congratulations hero, I know it wasnt easy, I know your journey was long and hard bu-"_ "HUUHUU HU you know what else is long and hard??.....thats right... IM TALKIN ABOUT MUH DICK!! My pEEnus that I use for the sex! HAHAHAHAHAH...anyways whats this bitch talking about? eh who cares I'm just gonna drop this series once the viewer retention dips below six digits"
I like to have MBH in the background/another window- I think this is exactly why I like that: because he balances letting the game breathe with his own input
I like how there's metal doors in a ball pit area too lmao. There's some inconsistency throughout the area tbh but the writing seems decent and the music is great. Hopefully the next chapters make more sense in that regard.
@@DeathnoteBB It is but why would a ball pit area have metal doors if it was meant for kids? They're just jarring and there's no reason for them to be there besides gameplay reasons.
Rambley feels like such a fresh character for the genre. Of course there’s the possibility he’s got ulterior motives, but he still feels like such a charming helper that actually seems to care for you, especially when he saves you from Mollie. Like I thought he was going to go down the route of being the big ringleader and acting nice just to trick you, but no he seems like he’s in just as much distress as you when he drops the act.
@@JNJNRobin1337 that and maybe ending his lonliness once and for all, whether it means the protag fixing the friends for a happily-ever-after or Rambley trapping the protag in the park in the final chapter(s) in fear of losing the only person who has cared for him in years
It definitely seems more like they're potentially setting up for more of an unfriendly AI than an outright malicious one. Rambly already let slip he needs a human to authorize certain actions, so we understand his motive for leading the player around. I wonder if maybe he even lured the player there initially somehow over the Internet. Kinda like Atlas in BioShock, but l feel like Rambly will have more of a redemption in the end if production makes it that far.
Its such a breath of fresh air. Honestly surprised more mascot horror games hadnt placed their mascots in the spotlight like Rambley, before. They are usually in the distance, like "ooooh mysterious neighbor" "What even is bendy, find out in 3 chapters!", and count them; TWO games that made their mascot only appear proper AFTER the first chapter, and then immediately had said mascot betray you. Finally a mascot we know a damn about. Even came with his own song.
Rambley is definitely the highlight of this for me. He's so incredibly charming, with just the right amount of uncanniness. The choppy animation with no in-betweens really give off that vibe of a cartoon that was made semi-cheap in order to be applied everywhere.
I personally don’t think he’s uncanny at all. A bit unfortunate since this is horror, but it would be weirder if the mascot of a kid-friendly park was creepy. I do like that the comfort his friendliness provides makes it so that sections without him are even creepier, like the lion bit behind the stage.
I think the cart ride is such a clever way to introduce the characters and their personality to the player all at once without seeming like random exposition. Also I love Rambley, I'm hoping he doesn't turn evil in the future
The train ride is sort of exposition. But exposition that fits to the setting. I can totally see a park having a calm ride right at the entrance that advertises all the other rides available.
That is the point where he went from ambiguous NPC to actually helpful NPC. He could've offed the payer right there. But instead he bends the rules to allow the player to continue.
I really hope Rambley remains a friend through to the end. The trope of the "Helper" character being revealed to be a manipulative liar (alongside a complete 180 turn of personality) has gotten a bit old, especially in this specific style of videogame. So far, Rambley seems to genuinely want to help, so I think the developer might be steering away from the trope! Looking forward to the next chapters.
You know, I rarely see the "helper is actually evil" trope be executed in a fun and in character way. It'd be fun to see if they do use this trope in the game, that Rambley becomes evil because it's been so many years and basically doesn't let protag out, uses protag to get more people into the park, regardless of if the park is still dangerous or not. With this implementation, I don't think "evil" Rambley would need a completely different personality. He'd still be the nice and charming raccoon he is, maybe with a more noticeable desperation want for socialisation.
My personal take is that he’s as in the dark about what happened as you and only has info on how the park should be. He’s discovering just how bad it is alongside you as your bracelet restarts the systems. Maybe he’s a clean backup AI that got loaded as you entered the park and well face his corrupted original later.
11:12 i don't know why but i found it so funny the way Rambley just said it so bluntly "i like trains". i was assuming something like "because its MY railroad, how could i not love it" but no he just like likes trains and says it so casually and briefly that it hit me with comedic whiplash
Unless it's a asdfmovie reference. I doubt it, but just something that came to mind. It could also be because trains are linear and easy to follow and control. As a result, to their AI, it's something easy for them to deal with and appreciate.
He’s literally neurodivergent and a miner. /this is a joke in that I do not know what age Rambly is meant to be, but also Train Enthusiasm is common enough among folks with the ‘tism in my circles that I’ve lowkey begun to wonder if there is a correlation, and I don’t think I’m the first to ask that question either, eheh.
@ShootingStarNeo This is gonna shock you, but yes, there IS a correlation between people with autism and liking trains. As for why this is the case, trains are very structured vehicles with a lot of history behind them.
This is lowkey refreshing for some reason, I know that it follows the same footsteps a lot of mascot horror does but there’s something so charming about it.
The mascot is actually a mascot, like a cartoon character that's gains sentience. As opposed to (I guess) poppy or Fnaf that makes the mascots maniacally evil and obsessively evil; there are lore explanation why but at the same time such unadulterated violence will get boring without prose and style.
@@itsgonnabeanaurfromme Compare the dialogue of this character to Freddy in FNAF breach, alongside the dialogue of the other characters in the game. They're all hard wired to have the exact tone, volume and angst without changing despite the world changing around them. The writers in this game were capable of setting up Ramble to start out as cutesy and lovable with a few glitches and stutters due to old software or lack of maintenance. Yet, the second a giant monster bird gets Eren Yeager'd the mask comes full off and the tone shifts. It's not Disney levels of characterization but it success at actually putting the mascots in mascot horror not a Slenderman in a Ken Doll.

Excuse me? This is FAR too charming for the genre. It is a little unpolished at points but man does Rambley carry the whole thing. I'll have my eye on it for SURE.
The game is entirely carried by Rambley's design and personality. Which is fine, because Rambley is a lot of fun. The game doesn't _need_ more than that.
@@theuncalledfor Yeah, I was going to say. Remove Rambley and all you're left with is baby's first horror game on Unreal Engine. A forgettable experience.
@@DoltonI it kind of is actually. im pretty sure the lead dev is the guy who remade garten of banban to be scary and it did so well they decided to make their own game.
Best ending song since the Portal ones. What is it with Game AI characters having songs that pull at your heart strings and funny bone? I hope we get to visit his park again soon.
what i like about the game is how they actually seem to be sticking with the idea of the theme park being a kids theme park, where you can kinda see how things would have looked had people been around, even the mascots look kid friendly, somewhat at least
Ikr? The characters, rides and mascots look kid-friendly but put through years of neglect and deterioration. Definitely a step up from its peers. Like who tf thought whatever mascots that were in Poppy Playtime, Banban or even FNAF would be remotely kid-friendly. They wouldn't have gotten *any* customers from the get go.
yeah, the sense of unease and sadness comes from the fact that this place has been neglected and has fallen apart, it doesnt feel like youre peeling back the curtain and it was horrible all along. which really helps it feel better
Honestly my favorite moment was during the information kiosk, with the raction figure and the commercial says “Push him down and he jumps, push him up and he doesn’t” i don’t know why but i actually laughed way to hard at that.
yknow i never thought id finally see a mascot horror game actually make use of the whimsical element that comes with having animal mascots. like it actually feels charming!
@@WhatupigotabigPetey right?? there's a lot of enthusiasm and love put into this! not to mention the designs are actually appealing and something i could actually see real life kids wanting merch of!
ngl i think it's better than fnaf design wise too. like yes animatronics have been pretty damn horrific even when there was an effort to make them child friendly, but the designs of fnaf ever since the first game didn't really try to be anything remotely child friendly. juniors did a better job at sticking close to the chucky cheese inspo than any fnaf game, and even tho security breach has the friendliest designs it sacrificed the horror entirely for that instead of embracing it
@@faeb.9618 Security breach isn't a horror game though. It's action adventure. It was basically a big setup for ruin which is actually horror. Plus if we started with ruin then we wouldn't have nearly as much attachment to Roxy and Monty. Well unique geese is relatively new dev his only other project was a recreation of garten of banban. Probably why it’s cute and charming. The dude is just a newbie making this with some other people having fun.
It doesn't feel like a mascot horror game outside of the chase with Molly Macaw. I'm kind of impressed. It's really high effort and has a unique feeling to it.
@@Cainus44 Instead of a mascot horror it feels more like a horror with mascots. The enemies being meat instead of robots does more than you think to make it feel "fresh" to the genre. "Real world" animals + AI mascot + decrepit old animatronics makes it feel like it would 100% exist in the real world vs "yeah the sentient robots are maliciously evil" which we're a LONG way off. Especially if the game is set in or before the present day. Then an actual character with a personality instead of an A4 page of lore in an extras menu. It is delightfully refreshing.
I know every youtuber who's played the lion jumpscare part says "guess we scared him off?" but I think you can all hear a temporary Eeeee sound and your character looks at your watch, like it's coming from there as the lion rolls on the ground like a dog would from a dog whistle. Is there a dog whistle for a cat? Maybe, but none I know of, but it's been proven that among the guides for mountain lions, you are told to make loud noises like yelling, clapping OR whistling. Thanks for coming to my TED talk
If that's true, then *why* was it implemented? It makes me curious because that implies there's a reason it was added. Maybe a similar occurrence happened.
@ForestTheBulbasaur 2 possible reasons 1) that noise is the sound of the watch being activated to open the door (your character puts the watch to open the door right before the lion attack) 2: the noise is a failsafe that can be activated by staff or the AI (rambley) incase of a malfuction
For those wondering about the end item Manly missed and where it was, it's located within the chase sequence with Molly Macaw at the end. The moment Manly turns around in the actual staff hallway once he escapes the play place, it's on a cabinet to your right when running by, but Manly turned around in a way that he completely slipped by it at 41:53. Ironically he missed the most lore important item as well. It states things about the mascot workers being replaced by something entirely, though they are unsure about what it is about. Rambley acts like he doesn't understand either.
Yeah, Rambley being an animated mascot and having such a distinct personality is definitely the "selling point" for this game and what makes it stick out from others of the same caliber. I'm looking forward to when Chapter 2 and beyond are released.
The reason the Lion ran off at 28:48 is because the band was producing a high pitch noise the lion hated, I also would have ran off cuz jeez it hurt my earsssss
Rambley genuinely seems to mean well, and unlike Gordon from My Friendly Neighborhood it seems the main character is more eager to help them out with re-building the park to a certain extent in order to reclaim some lost childhood memories they had of the place. Salem the skunk is gonna be the main antagonist focus of this game if her destroyed set from the ride glitching Rambley out and role in the arcade game is anything to go by. I can already see so much potential of what a full game experience can bring from this and I really hope the dev can succeed in funding their game.
I kind of liked Gordon. You as the player get to eventually make the decision on what to do. It adds a bit more back and forth between Gordon and the muppets instead of a silent protag.
did you see the photo of the both of them back on the train ride at 11:58??? SOMETHING happened and im interested to see what. also, maybe lloyd will help us since he snapped out of whatever haze he was in
Molly keeps saying something about Lloyd when you first encounter her just after that. I wonder what. Almost sounds like she's repeating that Rambley hates Lloyd
The implications of the bird blood are staggering. It was not animatronic. It was either the result of some freaky experiment or it was literally just some person in a costume that's been living in this abandoned amusement park.. either one is just as likely tbh.
Apparently the Molly death screen says she mimics words she's heard before, and one of the lines I noticed during the chase was something along the lines of "get back in your cage, little bird". I think it's definitely some kind of experiment situation.
"It's Rangley Tuesday." Other screen shows it's Saturday and so no special rates should be given. The fact this AI Raccoon is so cheerful and gives a free discount has already charmed me, now to hope he won't betray the player or die someway along the story. Cause I'm already a Rangler now.
Honestly I love the presentation of the fair, it actually looks and feels like an amusement park and nothing feels super out of place, unlike Poppy's Playtime that has the most confusing labyrinth of a factory and an UNDERGROUND ORPHANAGE THAT DOUBLED AS A TESTING FACILITY ON CHILDREN Indigo Park actually looks and *feels* like a place you might go to.
Please tell us about all of them! The only reference I caught was the Bendy and the Ink Machine styled Lloyd plushie. I can't tell if the jungle gym part was deliberately invoking FNAF Security Breach
I'm calling it; the black-and-purple skunk mascot is gonna turn out to be some lost/forgotten mascot and will be somehow better, worse, or otherwise different from the rest. Finley's my favorite mascot already. Don't worry Finley, we can obsess over cool ocean stuff together!
honestly, I thought Salem was supposed to be a red herring. Like, they set him(?) up to be the main bad guy with the video game, only for it to turn out to be something deeper than that. Honestly, I'm excited to see where this game goes. It definitely seems to be aiming to be a standout game in the indie horror genre, and if this is anything to go by, it seems to be succeeding in that goal.
Lots of Disney references here, obviously: - The most obvious: Rambley is clearly a stand in for Mickey with Isaac Indigo serving as a Walt Disney parallel. Finley's voice and personality are obviously modeled on Eeyore from the Winnie the Pooh films. - Isaac Indigo's speech about the park takes inspiration from Walt Disney's speech from the opening day of Disneyland ("To all who come to this happy place, welcome"). - Manly pointed it out, but the Critter Cuffs are basically just Magic Bands with Rambley's silhouette instead of Mickey's and being diamond shaped instaed of square or round. The CC can be used to charge items to your room, just as you can with the MB at Disney Parks. The panels even glow green when you use the Cuff, exactly like the Magic Bands - The tunnel leading to the rail way has posters for the attractions at the park, just like the tunnels that lead you from the entrance of Disneyland and Magic Kingdom to Main Street. - The Railway being the first ride at Indigo Park is modeled after the trains at the castle parks being right at the entrance. - The queue for Rambley's Railway is clearly modeled after the loading room of Mickey and Minnies Runaway Railway at Disneyland and Hollywood Studios, especially the faux wood walls. - The opening area after the railroad is obviously modeled after Main Street USA at the various Disney parks, with a larger plaza that leads into a narrow lane leading you to a large landmark (the Clock Tower for Indigo, the Castles for Disney). - Lloyd's Theater is in the exact same spot as the Main Street Theater, off to the right as you enter the park. - The banners advertising the Lloyd show outside the theater have a similar design and layout to the banners for the Mickey Mouse meet and greet (and the now closed Tinker Bell meet and greet) at the Main Street Theater at Magic Kingdom. - Mollie Macaw and Rambley talk about Barnstorming and crashing planes into barns. This is a reference to Goofy's Barnstromer, a junior coaster in Magic Kingdom in Storybook Circus (formerly Mickey's Toontown Fair). - Mollie's ride is modeled after spinner rides like Dumbo and, more fittingly, the Astro Orbiter. - Obviously, the Rambley ears are modeled after the Mickey ear souvenirs. The retro Lloyd plush also takes inspiration from Steamboat Willie and other classic rubber-hose cartoons and designs from early Disney. - The statue of Isaac and Rambley holding hands is a clear reference to the Partners statue at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom. That's most of what I caught.
Rambley is just fantastic here and really carries the whole plot by himself. You don't know if he's really on your side, if he has ill-intent, or bigger plans, or if being abandoned and unwanted for years has made him want affection, or is that all a ploy and he's antagonistic.
@@wtf-why-do-we-have-handles-now Yeah. UniqueGeese (the gamedev) gave himself the challenge to remake the first Banban chapter in two weeks with no game development experience and it actually turned out pretty good.
@@L16htW4rr10rThe developer of this game originally made a garten of banban remake (much better than the original even tough he had no experience) that got really popular, after this he decided to make an actual original mascot horror game
Wouldn't it be sad if Rambly was a fully sentient AI whose sole reward mechanism was positive feedback from children? Imagine what would happen to it if it were then carelessly left on. A digital being with all the same emotional needs as us, but it's been trapped for all those years in the entryway. Abandoned and alone. So terribly, terribly alone.
What i like about this setting is that it is not just a creepy theme park where one could only wonder how anyone would have ever visited it, as is so common in horror settings, but a theme park that in its heyday was very much a place you could visit with your family that only through many years of disrepair became the creepy setting of a horror game. Interestingly the way Rambley's still family-friendly presentation contrasts with the sorry state of the theme park effectively adds to the creepy atmosphere.
@@SusCalvin Oh man, that would be a cool set piece for this game or a game like this. Imagine traversing a decrepit building or ride, thinking the flesh mascots are the worst of your problems, then you have a segment where you have to escape a mountain lion or a bear that took camp and moved into this abandoned place.
The fact that the bird doesn't immediately chase after you and you have to pay close attention to the photos to even notice she is active is a great move! edit: jfc the bird just rips your heart out
Okay, this was just charming. The AI guide is actually a pretty good feature--I enjoyed hearing his lines. Usually the cute, friendly characters give off the "definitely going to betray you" vibe, and it makes the 'twist' when it happens fall flat--but Rambley has me at least half convinced that he's ACTUALLY a good guy, so if he does betray the player, then it would have a real impact. I'm surprised we didn't get more of an emotional reaction from Rambley when his best friend died, though. Especially if he was the one controlling the door? Maybe a few lines about him either explaining what happened (I'm guessing the arcade game was a hint about the evil skunk smoke), or not knowing, and making the new game objective to ask the player to investigate and help his remaining friends (as opposed to just wanting the park to be fixed). At any rate, I'm interested enough to want to see the next chapter!
I think that, being AIs, the destruction of that body wouldn't permanently hurt Mollie, assuming that it was connected to the "real" Mollie at all. I do wish there was more explanation of what it/she _was_ and why the animatronic was trying to kill you, but well, I suppose Rambley doesn't know.
28:40 Huh. A dog whistle went off. That's a nice touch. Sounds like someone thought of putting up a fail safe over the years. 42:29 WAIT THEY'RE REAL?! OK was NOT expecting that...oof. Poor thing.
I really like the utilization of the scenario and character Rambly has, he is an AI for a park but clearly has some good amount of sentience to himself. It perfectly captures that very cute but slightly uncanny feeling some horror has, it is more cute than horror at the moment but I feel its also because people have been a bit spoiled with horror games and this game is actually a good representation of horror that doesn't attempt to scare you, its more of an environment that scare you but it also is fine to not be scared. Also my two scents on why his eyes change when speaking certain words, I think that happens whenever he is not himself and its a pre programed thing, one of the extras has him play a recording and his eyes change for the duration of it so its clear its the system speaking, so certain words trigger a reaction in him which he has no control over.
@@Virtualblueart there’s actually a framed photo of them shaking hands behind you, when Conductor Rambley introduces himself, implying they were Buds, before something Soured their friendship
Something that really sells me on this one is that a decent amount of the humor seems very portal-esque to me, which I feel actually works very well for this sort of "dilapidated theme park" setting
When it comes to mascot horror, I actually really like this one! It feels like it's leaning more into mystery/adventure than more cliché "horror". All the cues taken from Disney parks - the opening dedication, the Magicbands, "pardon our dust", the partners statue, hell, even the TRASHCANS - are all implemented quite smoothly. It's also refreshing to see a setting like this that actually includes things like restrooms, restaurants, and waiting lines; feels more like an actual environment that way. I would say that the ending is a bit abrupt, and the look of the mascots themselves is a bit... odd? Though they could easily be intentionally uncanny. I'm amazed that what we see here is FREE! Looking forward to the rest! 😊
That's because Indigo Park was made by an actually passionate youtuber/indie dev. It all stemmed from him joking learning how to make games for a game jam-esk challenge to remake the first chapter of Garten of Ban Ban and make it not shit. He enjoyed it so much, and had ended up making a few dev/artist friends throughout the process, that afterwards he decided to go all in and make his own franchise, and Indigo Park is the result. His channel is called UniqueGeese if you're interested.
Wow, they managed to make Rambley the right amount of energetic without being grating but instead charming and well rounded. That is actually impressive. Actually, mascot horror has been evolving pretty well over the last few years, from being generic jumpscares and convoluted plots to more... engaging experiences with actual characterization and competent writing. Like, you could actually imagine there being merchandise and shows around the characters, and the park here in its best days actually would've been quite welcoming.
Rambley’s a good boy! I know it! The reason why I said that is because he’s been so lonely for eight years in that park. In my opinion, he would definitely do anything to set things right and put the place back in business!
His whole propose is to help people and run a theam park, without that he doesn’t know what to do, he definitely will help us build the park, it just makes sense.
Crazy prediction: In a later chapter, a Rambley animatronic will appear, and Monitor-Rambley will have a moment of "That's _my_ body... but THAT'S NOT ME." ...which might turn out to be only _partly_ true.
That would be a good twist, maybe he’s a backup that was unaffected by whatever evil or virus corrupted the rest and loaded upon the arrived of the protagonist. That would explain his lack of knowledge about the state of the park at the start. He’s learning about it all as you and your bracelet bring more and more systems online.
I adore that Rambly isn't lipsynced, corporations spend lots of money on all kinds of things especially innovation focused stuff but they're so often oblivious to the little things. Edit: that being said he isn't always desynced which is neat too :b

@@FullMoonOctober Maybe a final boss/bad ending? His issue is trust, and fears being abandoned again. So perhaps the player can build up trust with him or choose to bring the rascally raccoon home with them for a happier ending?
I have to admit, as someone who unfortunately lives in Florida, this game does the best job of actually feeling like a theme park. The rides, the park layout, the prices, it all makes sense and feels like an actual park to me.
So refreshing to hear a non-AI voice even if he's themed around AI. Rambley is done amazingly in both voice and animation! Also the park seems fairly believable, not too scary unfortunately but it has great atmosphere and presentation with the characters and voice actors giving a solid performance. Quite incredible for a self-funded passion project! Hope to see more of it, a very solid mascot horror game ^.^
For me, I don't think any game can scare me more than Alien Isolation, the original RE2, and Amnesia, so I love this for different reasons. Its theme-park horror, and fits in aesthetic that everything's trying to kill you because its rundown and broken, not supernatural or a cosmic horror story.
They succeeded in making Rambley seem like a genuine friend, it's great. AI was a good choice too, it really drives home the implications of an effectively sentient being getting trapped in a slowly rusting complex. All he wants is friends, you can really feel the desperation in his voice. I'm interested to see where they go with it, I hope they'll break some of the usual clichés with helper characters. As an aside, that song he sang is gonna be stuck in my head for awhile. Well done, you ear-wormed as well as 'Still Alive'.
Okay, Rambley saying "Cause I like trains! :3" has sold me on the character. I will now take every plushie and poor quality plastic figure of him from now on.
This is possibly the best executed mascot horror I've ever seen. My favorite part is definitely the addition of Rambly being an actual companion and not just someone who turns out to also be evil or dies in the first few minutes of the game. Having an actual companion is really good for this kind of game because if you just have an objective screen and "internal diolauge" to conduct you everywhere not only does it never make sense but it's so overdone. Ramblys also made perfectly where he feels like a real person but then he has moments where he glitches out or starts talking or acting robotically which reminds you he isn't real and the game can still contain this sense of loneliness.
I agree that it’s really well made but it’s 100% formulaic. First chapter introduces spooky abandoned place, explore a bit, see a spooky mascot, find some gizmo, get chased, end chapter. Definitely not a bad thing though as long as it’s done well.
@@Wert-eo7sz chapter one was made to be like a pilot the dev himself said if people didn’t like he wouldn’t make other chapters because it wouldn’t be worth the effort for something people don’t like.
@@mydogghost Yeah, I assumed as much. That’s why every mascot horror does the same exact thing for chapter 1. The unfortunate thing is that even if it’s well done, the formula makes it harder to stand out gameplay and story wise.
@@Wert-eo7sz I will agree it is pretty formulaic for a first chapter, but the attention to detail for Indigo Park itself, and Rambley's character help make the game pretty charming. Hopefully that helps make more people interested in this game, and we'll get more chapters where we get to see more of its own personality shine through
It’s extremely formulaic. Nothing new, we literally have the same thing in poppy playtime with someone guiding you through a creepy abandoned area who you can’t tell if you can trust or not. Only really notable thing is the the character is charming? Great job for the devs first major work but so far It’s just not scary at all
i think Jakeneutron is the main animator of Rambley! He's in TH-cam and a lot if not all of his animations are in that style. He also likely wrote and composed the song at the end! Damn, this is the first mascot horror that's actually intrigued me. The art style feels so fresh and unique, and it feels like there's some real heart to this game unlike so many others just pumped out for quick cash. Rambley seems really fun and i like him a lot already, but that's also exactly why i don't trust him 😭 especially with the 'did i earn your trust?' in the cute song at the end... He also really seems to want the protag's help getting the park under his control which could either be very good or very bad for everyone else, but either way I'm intrigued! Definitely keeping an eye on this one.

They clearly put effort in the character design, something you don't see all that often in this genre
reminded me a lot of the character designs from the pizza plex in FnaF: Security Breach,
and the style of the park's different "sections" around the fountain in the middle reminded me of friendly neighborhood and also poppy chapter 3

Makes his jokes funnier and his videos more engaging.
same. tbf though that Markiplier dude has a set of lungs, I'll bet he could be an opera singer, it's impressive.
_"Congratulations hero, I know it wasnt easy, I know your journey was long and hard bu-"_
"HUUHUU HU you know what else is long and hard??.....thats right... IM TALKIN ABOUT MUH DICK!! My pEEnus that I use for the sex! HAHAHAHAHAH...anyways whats this bitch talking about? eh who cares I'm just gonna drop this series once the viewer retention dips below six digits"
I like to have MBH in the background/another window- I think this is exactly why I like that: because he balances letting the game breathe with his own input
i like watching him because he plays how id imagine myself playing the game,
I find it funny how Rambley is a super advanced AI and yet, everything is powered by comically large gears
I like how there's metal doors in a ball pit area too lmao. There's some inconsistency throughout the area tbh but the writing seems decent and the music is great. Hopefully the next chapters make more sense in that regard.

Rambley feels like such a fresh character for the genre. Of course there’s the possibility he’s got ulterior motives, but he still feels like such a charming helper that actually seems to care for you, especially when he saves you from Mollie. Like I thought he was going to go down the route of being the big ringleader and acting nice just to trick you, but no he seems like he’s in just as much distress as you when he drops the act.
i theorize his ulterior motives are getting the park back up and running in tip-top shape, no matter the cost
@@JNJNRobin1337
that and maybe ending his lonliness once and for all, whether it means the protag fixing the friends for a happily-ever-after or Rambley trapping the protag in the park in the final chapter(s) in fear of losing the only person who has cared for him in years
EVERYONE KNOWS THAT
YOU'VE GOT
ULTERIOR MOTIVES
[TELL ME THE TRUUUUTH]
It's really well made. And honestly something I could actually see being a popular mascot.
Watch Rambley becomes the final boss 😭.
@@obviouslyme1293PLEASE LET HIM STAY A GOOD BOY 😭😭😭
I personally don’t think he’s uncanny at all. A bit unfortunate since this is horror, but it would be weirder if the mascot of a kid-friendly park was creepy.
I do like that the comfort his friendliness provides makes it so that sections without him are even creepier, like the lion bit behind the stage.
IKR
I think the cart ride is such a clever way to introduce the characters and their personality to the player all at once without seeming like random exposition. Also I love Rambley, I'm hoping he doesn't turn evil in the future
IIRC the dev straight up said they wouldnt do that to rambley because they werent a fan of that trope.
I think the more interesting choice is to continue to have Rambley be likable but then he DIES, maybe in like a sacrifice way or something
The train ride is sort of exposition. But exposition that fits to the setting. I can totally see a park having a calm ride right at the entrance that advertises all the other rides available.
It feels actually like a theme park
"Hey wait, this room's for staff only!"
*Menacing roar*
"COME ON IN NEW STAFF!"
Same.
He kinda gives me vibes of Ricky the Sock, which I hope they stick with. I loved the nice message MFN had.
Honestly it kind of reminds me of "The Neighborhood", where the sock friend held back a lot of info but he was never actively malicious to the player.
Honestly it gives the vibe like Rambley was the one to request his ride be a train
I have ruined your 69 likes (:
Unless it's a asdfmovie reference. I doubt it, but just something that came to mind.
It could also be because trains are linear and easy to follow and control. As a result, to their AI, it's something easy for them to deal with and appreciate.
He’s literally neurodivergent and a

Rambly as a character is just genuinely well executed.
@@itsgonnabeanaurfromme Compare the dialogue of this character to Freddy in FNAF breach, alongside the dialogue of the other characters in the game. They're all hard wired to have the exact tone, volume and angst without changing despite the world changing around them.

I know every youtuber who's played the lion jumpscare part says "guess we scared him off?" but I think you can all hear a temporary Eeeee sound and your character looks at your watch, like it's coming from there as the lion rolls on the ground like a dog would from a dog whistle. Given the pitch height, many may not hear it.
If that's true, then *why* was it implemented? It makes me curious because that implies there's a reason it was added. Maybe a similar occurrence happened.
@ForestTheBulbasaur 2 possible reasons
1) that noise is the sound of the watch being activated to open the door (your character puts the watch to open the door right before the lion attack)
2: the noise is a failsafe that can be activated by staff or the AI (rambley) incase of a malfuction

Honestly, I'm excited to see where this game goes. It definitely seems to be aiming to be a standout game in the indie horror genre, and if this is anything to go by, it seems to be succeeding in that goal.
Lots of Disney references here, obviously:
- The most obvious: Rambley is clearly a stand in for Mickey with Isaac Indigo serving as a Walt Disney parallel.
The panels even glow green when you use the Cuff, exactly like the Magic Bands
- The tunnel leading to the rail way has posters for the attractions at the park, just like the tunnels that lead you from the entrance of Disneyland and Magic Kingdom to Main Street.
UniqueGeese has actually stated he's a HUGE disney parks fan, and we can really see that through all of this!
Rambley is just fantastic here and really carries the whole plot by himself. You don't know if he's really on your side, if he has ill-intent, or bigger plans, or if being abandoned and unwanted for years has made him want affection, or is that all a ploy and he's antagonistic.
To think that this all started from a banban remake is crazy
You be surprised how often that happens.
IT DID????
I need more context for this
@@wtf-why-do-we-have-handles-now Yeah.
Man, whoever did the voice for Rambly knocked it out the park with their performance.
Budum-ching?
Haha
Wouldn't it be sad if Rambly was a fully sentient AI whose sole reward mechanism was positive feedback from children? Imagine what would happen to it if it were then carelessly left on. A digital being with all the same emotional needs as us, but it's been trapped for all those years in the entryway. Abandoned and alone. So terribly, terribly alone.
It’s so sad but now we are here, we need to come back for chapter 2 and we must show Rambley love
DIsused rides at Disneyland are a lot worse off. They are overgrown and slowly crumbling with wildlife mucking about.

Well Mollie seems to be a predatory bird, so she was probably just stalking her prey.

This REALLYY reminds me of the Pink bird in Gardens first chapter. And how the creator of this game remade the garten series too so
Okay, this was just charming.

@@Flammifleure I kinda like how vague it is about it! I can't wait to find out what's up with the mascots

@@allovertheplacecreations2787 Oh no. Lol. Yeah it was definitely a dog whistle, otherwise the MC would've been affected too.

"'Cause I like trains!" He sounds so genuinely happy.
The dev said chapter was like a pilot. He would make more if people liked it.
Well, as far as child-exploiting chapter-based mascot horror games go this is probably the most charming one I've seen.
That list... is unsettlingly long....
It's almost like making a project because of passion and heart and not for getting cash results in something well made 😮
That's because Indigo Park was made by an actually passionate youtuber/indie dev.
His channel is called UniqueGeese if you're interested.
yeah and i hope the game is actually about fixing the park with a little horror.
@@RikaRacistFurudethat seems to be the point considering the ending where Rambley admits the park is in shambles
I swear Manly's Mickey impression is getting better each time he does it.
I really like Rambley's animations. Adds a touch of care and quality to the game that the cheap mascot games don't really have
Crazy prediction: In a later chapter, a Rambley animatronic will appear, and Monitor-Rambley will have a moment of "That's _my_ body... but THAT'S NOT ME."
...which might turn out to be only _partly_ true.
That would explain why he's constantly "overwriting" the prerecorded stuff. He was never supposed to be in the announcement system.
Ah fetch that would be dope
That would be a good twist, maybe he’s a backup that was unaffected by whatever evil or virus corrupted the rest and loaded upon the arrived of the protagonist.
That would explain his lack of knowledge about the state of the park at the start.
He’s learning about it all as you and your bracelet bring more and more systems online.
i bet then you defeat it and allow rambley to take it over, which will allow you to get him out of the park
That would be a nice breath of fresh air after all the "corrupted helper ai" characters in games like this.

I have to admit, as someone who unfortunately lives in Florida, this game does the best job of actually feeling like a theme park. The rides, the park layout, the prices, it all makes sense and feels like an actual park to me.
You know, i thought, "here we go, another mascot horror game." But this game has SOUL and the music is amazing.
I've literally thought the same at the start, saying "welp, I came here for MBH anyway", and did not even expect the game to have an actual soul.
I love when games like these have realistic/real video records in between to give lore
You know this "kiddie horror" game is doing a good job; watching Mollie's Landing Pad and thinking "I actually want to play there".
Damn, Rambley got some good pipes on him!
pipes? I think you mean ears.
@@syco9008 I think they're referring to rambley's voice
I'm only 4 minutes in but that smug face when Rambley asks if you got plastic surgery made me laugh.
I love that UniqueGeese carried over Mollie stalking the player from the Opalu Bird stalking during the Banban remake.
The animation on Rambly is actually highly impressive. Love the way he moves
"shadow the skunk-hog?" That one got me 🤣
I was nervous this game was gonna be one of those formulaic mascot horror games, but this is SO WELL MADE and i was instantly proven wrong
