unless canonically stated otherwise, riley is definitely a super talented protagonist. if we assume in universe she’s doing all of this with only one life, then that means she-figured out the puzzles with lethal consequences (toy; dragon princess) on her first go, gained amanda’s trust in less than 2 days, discovered the secrets of a cult, and survived despite most likely being exhausted
It's more likely that it's a time loop, as when you restart the game and make the same choices Amanda would point that out saying "You want to do the same boring choices ?"
The multi-time line theory is that, if something can happen, then it _has_ happened. The existence of such a timeline is a _guarantee._ So you can say that we've simply observed a few failed timelines, until we finally see the alpha timeline. As for how we get to the alpha timeline so quickly... well, it's because failed timelines tend to end and get culled out as well, especially since our PoV is tied to Riley. If Riley dies, there's nothing more to observe, right? Hence we're predisposed to be funneled toward the alpha timeline (or any timeline that Riley survives) no matter what. Think about life being akin to a miracle-- the odds of it happening is extremely low, and yet we're here, living in a timeline where life exists. It's the same principle: We're guaranteed to be on a timeline where life exist, because if life doesn't exist, then we won't have a PoV at all... despite how astronomically low the odds were. ... Although I'm sure the others are right and it's just time loop of sorts. lol
tbf he's kind of a thing meant to keep her docile and trapped so obv after finally being Freed she would resent thr the person/thing that had a hand in keeping her trapped
it’s so easy in the first game to forget that amanda is still a little girl at heart who has been absolutely tormented by things beyond her comprehension. this sequel, seeing her face everything alone, knowing that without wooly she feels lonely… i have the feeling whatever this entity is, it feeds off the torture. edit: one minute later and i see amanda absolutely dogging on wooly lmao.
The worst part is Rebecca is supposed to be fifteen now? Or older? Kate mentions in the orange tape that she's been at the cult for fifteen years, imagine being permanently eight.
@@yuarentlucky she was already about 7-8 when she was put into the tapes I believe, so shes older than 15 now. Either way, your point stands. Shes been trapped for a long time, stuck in the same mentality, never being able to grow or experience new things or control her own desitny..... You really get a feel for how tragic her story actually is in this game. Those little hiccups in the tapes when she mentions anything about the reality of her situation or she mentions anything significant about her previous life really break your heart when you realize what the tapes are doing.
i mean she may hate wooly as he is the antagonist (her cell guard) but at the end of the day, he is the only thing she can interact, as in he is the only one that is locked in the tapes with her, so of course she would feel lonely without him, even if he is horrible
@arianikolleortemoreno5225 obviously as shown in this installment, that's not the case (her and wooly being the only ones in the tapes). As for Joanne's brother, I'm curious to know why him and Amanda haven't interacted before (she seems genuinely confused by his presence). It also lends the question of.... WHO is Wooly? If Joanne's brother got turned into a freakin POSSUM, then maybe Wooly was once a person as well?... This game didn't do anything but add more questions and honestly? I ain't mad. I'm intrigued!
I could be wrong but I think: -Wooly is a representation of the saying a wolf in sheep's clothing. That monster at the end looks a lot like him, and we heard that weird noise when the stuffed wooly was given to the Amanda monster, and even it looked afraid. Maybe he isn't there as a companion to keep her calm, maybe he's the real mastermind behind the world. Like in the can we fix it tape she's sitting there holding her knees at one point while he circles her. -The possum is Joanne aka the masked figures missing little brother Jordan. It really seems to be acting like a rambunctious child looking for attention. And it seemed to have a lot of interest in the camera. Along with trying to say Joanne, garbled but with the subtitles it's clear what it's trying to say. Sure it can't talk like those two can, but if you think back to the the first game only those two can talk. -The meatman/butcher is a surgeon that put Rebecca in her comatose state, as shown in the hidden tape of someone in a hospital bed. She's been missing according to another hidden tape for 15 years. In the first game Amanda does mention the following things. "I'm out there...somewhere." And when they talk about rotting, she mentions "it feels far away." Or it's also some kind of demon that can move freely between the real world and the cartoon world. Maybe possessing a surgeon and then playing with Amanda in the cartoon world, as he seems to be the one she's most afraid of. Seems to be the only victim in this series is Rebecca, and all the kids that got pulled in by the Amanda the adventurer show. Sam is likely dead since in the first game there was the news broadcast that the Hameln made it sound like he just abandoned Rebecca and the show, so no one would be looking for him. And Kate was also killed because she stuck her nose in, mentioning in the secret tape that everyone who did the same is dead. Along with Joanne dying as well though more horribly in the true ending.
I also got the idea that Wooly is an antagonist in this one and is trying to keep Amanda in the tapes. The "Why would you be scared of Wooly" mocking tone seems to be more of some irony to lower your guard for the eventual reveal. Amanda acting flippant to Wooly can be her rejecting the idea of making these tapes and trying to "scare off" folks from digging further.
@@ManlyBadassHero I like that, recontextualizes her attempts at being disturbing as her intentionally trying to make kids stop watching (Helped by how the story-time tape suggests she probably already had/has a dark taste in storytelling). So a lot of the tape spookiness is in-universe a red herring for the actual spookiness (cult trying to Halloween 3 kids). Kind of wish the "True" demon was a bit more stylistically different if that's the case though; to have the Demon Amanda be a goofy Spawn demon that bites your head because that's the extent of her childish imagination, whereas the Hameln demon could have been a more vague, menacing figure (instead of Spawn Demon But Sheep). Makes the framing of the treasure tape more interesting as well; that she's doing everything in her power to will the tape towards "digging up a dead body that scares the viewer", only to be railroaded back to a pleasant ending (the stuffed bear that annoys her) Speaking of the demon, if I understood the true ending right, Hameln wants the tapes destroyed and was manipulating Joanne & Kate into doing so (since they thought the tapes were at her house, and they burned that down)? At the same time, Amanda Demon actively hunts people who try to do that (first ending), interesting that they're at-odds; most obvious answer would be that destroying the tapes really can free Rebecca, but without them also means Hameln gets to finally move on and make a new corruptive show.
I think Wooly isn't the mastermind and is also caught in this situation now, but I definitely believe there's something fishy going on with him. Though he's also afraid of the meatman; if you type you like "scary" stories he has a flashback that seems tied in to meatman and starts hyperventilating. But Amanda also says she used to trust him, so some sort of betrayal must've happened. Amanda broke my heart in this game - she's so sad and alone! Thought about opossum possibly being Kate, but Joanne's brother feels more fitting.
Adding onto the meatman theory, in the glitched "we can fix it!" tape, there's a part where the meatman appears and says "close your eyes, count down from 10, you may feel this pinch" and then Amanda screams afterwards. When getting a shot usually doctors or surgeons will tell you something similar to feeling a slight pinch or prick.
One theory of mine is that it's her soul (Amanda) and her former human form (the monster). Separation of the soul and body could turn the body into something animalistic, unguided by reason without a conscious soul. She can only hold it back because they're still two halves of a whole.
2:18:15 One thing I kinda like about the sequel is, like how Manly mentions, it doesn’t tell you too much new information. A lot of the important info was communicated in the first game. Instead, the game capitalizes on the fact that you know some secrets already and develops the characters more deliberately. I actually found myself becoming a lot more invested in each of the characters through the live action sections because they didn’t have to hide much. Instead, we explore their motivations and become attached to them as though they were real people.
Yeah, this one definitely made me feel more bad for Amanda cuz she isn’t able to go out in the world and see all these places in different countries. She doesn’t have her dad there and she gets lonely. There’s the part where she’s depressed and is sick of Wooly and the adventures. Since we know she was once a real person after the first game they really made this one heavy with showing us what it’s like for her. The second game really showed us more of her anger and annoyance when we purposely choose wrong answers too. We even see Wooly’s anger too with the story telling.
It certainly tries to focus on fleshing out Amanda and the characters which is fine. I might have enjoyed more plot and new information but still better than just 'and now let's ignore all the previous information, dump new stuff and advance the plot 10 miles per second because yes'
i agreee, like even though story points have already been communicated, it does change the audience's perspectives on Amanda herself on whether or not she's actually the villain, some people went into the 2nd chapter with the 'hate amanda, love wooly' but after this game, it kind of switches that perception. which I love so much.
the fact that they got a high school band to play the theme is genuinely so cool. i would be riding that high for years if i got to record for a game in high school
Okay, here's my take on this. That story about the knight and the princess is this game. Wooly's story is you smashing the tapes and returning "triumphantly", having slain the monster. The true story is Amanda wants you to save HER, the monster. However I don't think Wooly is the bad guy either. He's the original tape trying to keep things on track against the cult-corrupted Amanda. I have a feeling we might be able to save the soul trapped inside these tapes, without destroying them. The monster didn't attack when Amanda said we were trying to help...so if we keep helping her, maybe we can figure out the full truth, and save the princess, instead of slaying the dragon.
save the princess activated my neurons and makes me hope MBH plays the Pristine Cut for Slay the Princess Also, I prefer this take to the "Wooly is the real villain" theories
@@plasmabasher Same, I am 100% understanding and following that at the end of the day, Amanda/Rebecca herself is a gigantic victim in all of this, but some part of me absolutely refuses the idea of Wooly automatically being our supposed "real culprit/villain" in all this.
I gotta say this The people behind this game really KNOW how to make it feel right. For one I thought not putting a death behind the clear fails was odd at first but also I think they wanna tell a more proper story this time around. And then coming to that story, the orange tape? That is some solid acting on display. Feels very normal, as if its just people talking about something that actually occured. Really well done. And then the stuff in the background as you watch the taps while being confined to a small side room to do so? God thats even worse than the attice cause the entire front area is left unobserved, its crazy.
@@SpecialInterestShow death for clear fails as in the complete screw ups of the player. I think that's what they mean, anyway. But I can't say I remember how the first game did it for comparison, to be honest.
Respectfully, the acting in the orange tape was not very good. Some points were fine, but others felt like community theatre. I think part of it came from weak directing and possibly mid dialogue that the actors weren't allowed to/didn't feel like they could adjust to be more realistic. But for an indie horror game, it was good enough.
I really hope the next one is the final one. The premise and the execution of the story so far has been solid, but there is the worry of them milking the project and diluting the story more than it needs to be.
It doesn’t feel like milking, feels more like steadily releasing the game, so people don’t forget, and to pace it out kinda, because if they made it a full game, the first to third game probably wouldn’t have been out till like, 2025 all together- There’s so much to uncover still I’m pretty sure the story won’t dilute or wtv-
Yeah it feels proper for the next one to be the final one. First game had a ton of introducing to do. This game tied up most of the loose ends but left the big ones intentionally undone. Next game should completely be the reveal of everything.
i think they could get away with 4 games, one more thats finding the cult and the last actually dealing with the cult i kinda hope they keep with the "one central location" if only for some good ol fashioned force creativity
Huh. I suspect that the Possum was the brother, and he was trying to say "Joanne" at the end there. I wonder why and how it got into the tapes, and why it acts like a maniac though.
on the spot theory: the tapes where the opossum isn't there were made before jordan got snatched; he got added to the show continuity after being snatched and these are the tapes we're seeing now?
can't comment on why he's an opossum, but well... he got 'sucked' into the tapes after all. so he was trying to get attention to tell you who really he is
Possibly him being a possum in the tapes in symbolism for how he’s managed to survive? We haven’t seen any other children-esque entities despite the disappearances, they could just be very well dead, consumed by whatever is going on in the fake world within the tapes. Possums, however, are VERY famous for faking their death, so perhaps that’s how he has managed to retain appearances in the tapes. An alternate theory to why he has survived is just that he was the newest victim at the time, since Kate’s death was very recent and it was linked to Jordan’s disappearance. Perhaps the tapes instead feed off of their victims slowly? I almost assume it’s through torturing them over a long period of time - the possum seems to have a running thing with trying to eat things. Eating the coins, the toothpaste, the bacon, trying with the toaster. Maybe hunger is the method of torment? Or it varies depending on the child? Maybe they just naturally starve within the tapes? At the very least, it doesn’t seem that Amanda is aware of what is happening to the children being dragged into her tapes, considering her questioning why the possum kept showing up.
Yeah the monster at true end was wooly. Sheep eyes, wool, and ears and how Wooly act less like father figure from amanda adventurer 1 and he acts more childish and after treasure tape u give a wooly dool u hear a SECOND MONSTER roar before the Amanda monster goes finding it after the wooly doll is ripped. In few tapes (we can fix it and the tape of cheering Amanda up, u see wooly eyes black out and wooly acts more childish here than like a father figure in Amanda the adventurer 1)
I was actually expecting this sequel to wrap up the story, likely due to how unhinged the title screen and its music presented itself if you’re idle on the title screen for long enough. It really sounded like something you’d see and hear before facing the final boss, or as if the final boss is entering its second or last phase or something. It does a good job at telling you that you’re about to delve into a world of utter insanity here. I really love it for that. I wonder how the third game’s title screen would look like if the second game’s title screen already acts very insane as it is. But I wasn’t expecting this sequel to end on a cliffhanger like the first game. I’ve been hearing fans say that this game gave more questions than answers. I do hope that the third game will be the last one with interesting reveals, developments, answers, and a satisfying conclusion. Because you’re right. If they made more than three games of Amanda at this point, then it does run the risk of making the whole tape watching and puzzle solving gameplay redundant and overstay its welcome, even if they try to add new mechanics. Amanda doesn’t need to be like Fnaf and its whole wacky, convoluted lore. It can just have three entries so as long as the lore that people are invested in is written and wrapped up in a good and satisfying way. Again, I really hope that the third one can be more longer, climactic, and actually conclude the story in a great way and is especially made to be the scariest game of the bunch. I really want to see more of that Wooly demon and how unique it is from the Amanda demon in the third game. It is the most interesting reveal we got from this game.
yeah, this was kind of disappointing. i went into this hoping to get more answers because i thought the story was really interesting and i came out of it feeling like i know just as much as i did before. this has been a trend with any game involving mystery like this since fnaf and im really sick of it, in all honesty. fnaf is like "how not to do mystery 101", yet people still do the exact same thing it did. the more you drag a story out and dont answer important questions regarding the plot the more fed up people are going to get with the story as a whole. if they make a third one, i hope we get an _actual_ conclusion instead of the same stupid open ending we have seen 50 times before.
Yeah it’s a pet peeve of mine when indie games continually string you along. FNaF did that too, never giving any answers so you’re buying every new game that comes out hoping for closure
1:14:51 Just noticed Woolie's eyes going black/empty when Amanda calls out to the monster. Weird. ETA: Despite not being "realistic", the emotion expressed in Joanne's face and model was _really_ good IMO. (But maybe that was just relative to Amanda's own animation, although I think the way she's animated is intentional.)
His animation also stops awkwardly. I’m wondering if he’s just another asset in the show and not some demon, maybe just an empty husk that gets taken over by some demon.
But, entirely wrong. The actual danger is that of billionaires paying you minimum wage, where "minimum" is an arbitrarily-defined standard which is basically "whatever we can get away with." Taxes pay for everything the government does, like public schooling, maintaining roads, making sure your food isn't dangerous, that sort of thing. The more you're paid, the less taxes are a problem for you, because you don't need that extra money, but everyone else does... especially people who are so poor they don't have to pay taxes.
@@Mythraen Your taxes don't fund anything like that. They go into paying interest on the immense debt the government accrues each year with exorbitant spending (all spending is funded by loans with interest from the Federal Reserve, a private company modelled after the Bank Of England).
@Jupiter__001_ "Your taxes don't go into paying for anything like that." Neat, what does pay for it then? Every major government is in debt. You haven't a clue how economics works.
@@Mythraen Read the second sentence. Look up how "Modern Monetary Theory" works. All spending (yes, all) is funded by moneylending from the Federal Reserve. Taxes are collected by the government in order to pay interest on loans, but since all money is issued at interest by the Federal Reserve there is a lot more debt than there is money in circulation, meaning the debt can never be repaid in full. This means the only way to "balance" the books is to increase government spending and decrease interest rates so that the old loans will devalue faster than their rate of interest; this is obviously much more harmful to the common man, whose savings are mostly in cash, than for the rich whose savings are mainly stored as assets which will climb in value as the currency devalues. This would be a viable (if immoral) system if not for the fact that economic downturns occur, which can rapidly spiral out of control under such a model (debt undergoes exponential growth, so lowering taxes is never an option, which harms recovery efforts). I hope you understand what I have written, and how the current economic system is rigged against you and me. It can be summed up as: 'The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer,' and the bank is the master of us all!
@@Jupiter__001_ how do you think the government accrues that "immense debt" each year? what do you possibly think they're funding with "exorbitant spending"? it's not just the shit mythraen mentioned, i'll give you that, but that shit IS included in the list of things being utilized extensively for more and more debt.
There is something about this story that interests me. The meat man. He is referred to alot in this game and was a ending. Also seems to have some kind of mental grip on Amanda. Plus everytime he appears the game turns weird
i think the meatman could be a metaphor/stand-in for some sort of demon or higher-up that facilitated all of (or at least a lot) of the demon shenanigans. it would explain why both amanda AND wooly are visibly unnerved/upset by being in the butcher store when they used to be able to go there in the first game demos + the flash where amanda looks nauseous in the final first game tape where you give the gift to kate + there's flashing at some point during the original fix tape where a pair of uneven eyes with teeth are shown in the dark, only for the meatman (who has similarly uneven eyes) to show up a few seconds later.
@@redwolftrash dont forget one of the endings in ATA1 was that, through the trapdoor in the floor, we got into the butcher's shop, interpreted by many that we got turned into meat by him
@@q-miiproductions878Not just a shot, it’s what they say before surgery. And near the beginning of the game there’s a shot of some surgical theater lights from the POV of someone on the operating table… Plus, the character meatman is a _butcher…_
2:18:49 I hate to agree, but yes, it reminds me of the Banban problem. Amanda's puzzles aren't anywhere near as repetitive, but neither series moves the story along quickly enough between games, and because there is no difference between playthroughs, there is not a compelling reason to play them twice. It is perhaps a consequence of a good concept becoming successful before the idea is complete in the creator's head. I would rather have them take the time to make the game they wanted to, but the market was never going to let them do that. Shakespeare gotta get paid, son.
I am so glad you played this game! A lot of people are talking about how the opposum is Joanne's brother as he, spoilers ahead, tries to scream out her name near the very end ( 2:05:04 , also check 2:06:12 ) especially when the masked woman called Riley through the walkie-talkie. Another cliffhanger ending also! Can't wait for the third instalment of this game 😊 P.S: You should really play In Stars and Time. It's a nice timeloop indie game that has Omori/Undertale themes going around it. That's it for my yapping, have a good one MBH! 💖
Maybe this has already been said, but doesn't it look like the Amanda monster has a bunch of wool over its eyes? The game devs clearly like their use of cultural phrases like 'wolf in sheeps clothing'. Someone else pointed out how before the Amanda monster attacks you, Wooly's eyes go black and then Amanda stops it. Then later the Amanda monster runs off, something bigger and more scary is coming. Which ends up being the Wooly monster at the very end.
So much became clear to me after correctly completing the bad day tape and the subsequent orange tape, it was actually exciting! I really appreciate how the devs haven't mocked our intelligence between these games and made it engaging uncovering and fitting the pieces of the story together by also accounting for the "fails" and cheeky responses. Peak execution of concept and a pinnacle in what makes indie games so awesome. Bravo devs and thanks for the thorough playthrough as usual Manly.
Wait that boy who dancing while his dad record is actually the opossum and that's Jordan?? That animal like to dance and want attention in front of camera..same like the boy dance in front of his dad 😱.. that's the reason why the masked lady looking for her little brother..now i get it
I think the is the only indie game ive seen were the monster actually acts like a monster. I LOVE the sounds it make and how it moves around the place.
I love watching Manly playthroughs, just because he actually takes his time finding secrets and different endings. While other ytb just rush through and be done with it
I was thinking over the last day or so about what Manly said at the end of the video, and I have to agree with his final thoughts. I was feeling a little dissatisfied going through this game, but I couldn't put my finger on why until Manly talked about it 2:16:21 Really, it is the monster effect in movies. Things are much scarier when it is unknown. Having the monster Amanda being a well lit set piece without consequence, the videos going over things we already knew about the lore and setting, and the feeling that this game had no new information. Also, I agree that I miss Amanda being the antagonist. In this game she was our buddy who sometimes got out of hand. In the first game we were afraid she was going to cut into Woolies head or break into our house. Tonal shifts made the differences more obvious between the games. Anyway, just expressing my thoughts for anyone else who happens to see this message. Just a very interesting sequel, and a good case study in story design in horror and sequels in general.
Possum is the equivalent of Swiper from Dora the Explorer. Swiper always sets out to ruin Dora’s day but I feel like the Possum is hunting Amanda because she smells like death, her soul is in the tapes but her real body is gone
2 days ago i saw caseoh play this game, had to watch the whole gameplay of the first game just so i could watch the second part of it but it turned out he wasnt gonna finish it, i immediately searched up amanda the adventurer 2 on manly's channel since he's the gaming encyclopedia, there was only the demo version but i literally knew that he would play this game almost immediately. and here i am today, love u manly your videos are just perfect to have in the background of eating or grinding games
I don’t think Wooly is INTENTIONALLY evil. Maybe he’s a kid trapped in the tapes and is afraid that if you destroy the tapes you kill him and Amanda. It’s been 15 years, who knows what consequences will happen if they do break the tapes. Plus, the opossum was assumed to be a villain, but with more evidence it’s theorized that he could be Joanne’s brother. Amanda isn’t evil but she has a demon, so we shouldn’t come to conclusions…yet. Wooly does seem to have SOME empathy for Amanda, especially during the “Fix It/Broken Heart” tape.
god, i'm so glad this game is being handled so well. it's rly cool to see a clearer narrative start to be pulled together and i'm def looking forward to see where they'll take it. also just love amanda as an unabashedly mean character LOL... rly great video!!
Amanda: "Geez, can't you figure this out?" Manly: "No, I'm a Lets Player." I choked on my water. Like, legit spewed it over my desk and keyboard, coughing.
More good puzzles, some solid scares and unsettling moments (the second rendition of the credits is the highlight of the game to me), and some honestly funny moments with Amanda being more openly hostile towards Wooly. I do agree that it's a bit disappointing that pretty much everything we learn in this game is just affirmation or minor expansions to what was already in the first game. I still like this, but it ultimately feels like the midpoint of a trilogy. It's obvious we will get more of Amanda in the future, here's hoping the next game can be the best of the series.
Honestly mixed feelings on this. The production value and the puzzle complexity is definitely nice, while the lore provided absolutely nothing new, but at the same time I love the live acting segments? I honestly feel like the live action cutscenes are probably the most interesting part of the game just because I like seeing the actors. I think the live action is perhaps the thing that makes Amanda the Adventurer most interesting. But then again, at the same time, the ending was just... man, I really wish making games episodic isn't like the norm, because I really wish they would have at least gave us some kind of a conclusion. I'm gonna get bored with this series real fast if they keep going.
I actually said something out loud when Amanda asked if I built something that took a lot of patience (I said tooth clock [exactly as disturbing as it sounds]) and actually felt offended when indirectly insulted for the time, glue, enamel, and batteries it took to make that thing.
9:38 The humor of this part is so good, cause I thought she was just gonna throw it onto the floor to smash it, then she pulls out that comically huge mallet 😭
Hey manly, if you let the possum break Amanda's shovel in the bandits tape, you will find a familiar metallic object, which always makes you mention a certain MIT sciencist.
Wollie is the demon Balan. Balan is mentioned in the tape being summoned, and is often depicted with a Sheeps Head. Amanda is probably Bael, also summoned, more powerfull than Balan (thats why she often mocks him) and often depicted with 3 heads (like our demon).
Indie horror games really need to get over the idea that, "I'm sorry, but you signed a contract" to justify getting away with blatantly illegal things. Contracts do not override law, and you cannot legally sign away basic rights. Gotta say though, I love how they animated the monster moving. Super uncanny.
@@ThatOne-s6g I refuse to believe that normal dude looked at a blood contract and said, "Yeah, pass me that knife." Suspension of disbelief only goes so far.

I love your letsplays so so much!! I feel so cool that I knew about mouthwash before it was out because I watched you play the demo! You’re so thorough, respectful, & badass 🫡❤️
Like FNAF VR2, they make the game a lot less scary because player feed back was : game too scary. I also think Amanda 1's puzzle is a bit too hard for new adventure game players, so that's probably why Game 2 is easier. And this game really lean into the inventory puzzle instead of the escape room nature of Amanda 1.
I haven't watched it all yet but I have a feeling that first secret tape (Orange) theres something there. The guy says "Can we just Pause" and given the VHS nature of things it feels like pausing there could show something.
Huh. It's pretty perfect coincidental timing that Amanda cuts you off just as soon as you mention Touhou's lore. Plus, she mentions bringing her backpack, which is a good idea! you can bring supplies, like food! After all, it'd suck if you starved to death before you could reach the safety of the Hakurei shrine or human village. ... Or got eaten by Rumia. Or got your soul ripped out of your butt by Nitori. Or lethally poisoned by Medicine. Or turned into a zombie by Seiga (like she did with Yoshika). Or pranked by fairies (a _bit_ less lethal, but could easily make it easier for a different bad fate to occur), or... Well, I think I've made the point. Seriously, the series keeps things light-hearted, but hoo boy is there a dark underlayer of horror for any outsiders who find themselves in Gensokyo. DiPP is probably the only time the series has even semi-canonically dipped it's toes into the darker side of the lore... Unless you count the offhanded explanation of how the 'spiriting away' phenomenon is caused by Yukari bringing people who won't be missed from the outside world into Gensokyo to feed the man-eating youkai, so they don't eat villagers. Great place to read about. Terrifying place to _actually_ visit.
I agree with what Manly said at the end of the vid/his review/wrapup. This game comes off as "an experience" form of game, where replayability is almost non-existent and the draw is that first playthrough. Once you've played through it and experienced or have seen everything there is almost no incentive to replay due to lack of gameplay. There are a few puzzles scattered throughout, but it almost makes me wonder if Amanda would've been better off as a creepy video series instead of a game. A staggering amount of "mascot horror" games are guilty of this I've noticed.
Eh, there are plenty of games that are mostly just watching (like visual novels) and this had some neat puzzles. Just because something doesn't have replay value doesn't make it have any less value as a game (this is just my opinion of course, I respect yours as well)
Oh boy Manly uploaded~ I like how Manly had to do a double take on that book with a leech. I think you could make a really good anime about cleaning skyscrapers. Like you could have it be very shounen and action packed using weird names for basic things like how sports anime or anime surrounding a specific item like cards are. I liked the puzzles in this one. I like that they added their own swiper the fox. The little cat balls were adorable. Some of the tapes distracting was really cool. Like is Rebecca living in those tapes actively feeling the world glitch? Seems painful. Like she also has to play the role of Amanda but is trying to have some semblance of control of her life. I wonder if the next game will sorta conclude the series. Those donations look like it funded a library bunker rather than a kids corner. I liked the attic better, but this seems like a bridge to the bunker. The bunker might be scarier. I think theres a balance between the horror and the puzzles that the first game had better. Probably only noticeable due to the length of the second one. I think Jordan was the new lore here. They could add in more kids since hamln seems to have existed for a real long time and that they had a tv show. Anyone could be involved really, not just kids. They do have a good jumpscare opportunity with when you turn back to the room. But not in the freddy kinda way where they jump at you and scream. They did it with the monkeys and that was actually really well done. Id say they could do more of it but ease into the whole room changing or something sinister just being there. Cause the tapes are usually long enough to where you wouldnt expect something and will potentially make you jump lol. I do hope we get more scares in the future.
@ItzYell0w33 2 hour comment baby! I apologized for putting you through my word vomit. I like writing stuff that really shouldnt be given much thought to whenever anyone comes across it lol.
dude, Manly releasing this.... it's like a salvation. Manly is always releasing videos when I need it the most. Whether it's college, doing something tedious in my computer, fixing something, etc Today, I am doing the really difficult thing of moving every file from my hard drive to another hard drive. Because I can't plug in more than one hard drive (well, mainly because I don't want to look at the motherboard manual to figure out where things go), I can only have one hard drive plug in at the same time, so I have to transfer files to another storage which can't handle all of it, unplug, replug, transfer it to the new one, and do it over and over again. It's over 6TB, mostly piracy. I seed a lot. I can't do anything. I just had to because it looked like it was starting to deteriorate. Manly, man, damn, I hope to watch this channel when I am 60 years old, these coincidences never happen on other channels and never with over an hour long videos.
You are literally my favorite person to watch play games Manly if you told me 2 years ago I'd be watching another human do this kind of thing I'd call you a liar but I'm hooked thanks for existing sir.

I love how the creepy spider mouse thing just waited there. It immediately made me think "cool, we frens now". Like proper "i can fix her"/stockholm syndrome shit. Boy, I wouldn't survive 15 min in a horror movie.
i feel like the possum might be amanda’s dad, it could be him trying to get in her way and stop her from doing bad things, while wooly could be someone from the company acting as her friend just to keep her imprisoned in the show (idk though just a thought)
If the next game is not the last one this series will 100% overstay its welcome. I miss the times where everything wasn't milked dry till it becomes a husk. Nowadays anything from film series, to TV series to games just is run to the ground. Think of any series you love and you'll realize they all most likely end up on a good note before they are run to the ground. I don't remember the last time something like that happened... Greed is just too much nowadays.

@TheMaidenlessKnight yes
unless canonically stated otherwise, riley is definitely a super talented protagonist. if we assume in universe she’s doing all of this with only one life, then that means she-figured out the puzzles with lethal consequences (toy; dragon princess) on her first go, gained amanda’s trust in less than 2 days, discovered the secrets of a cult, and survived despite most likely being exhausted
Unless it's a timeloop...
It's more likely that it's a time loop, as when you restart the game and make the same choices Amanda would point that out saying "You want to do the same boring choices ?"
Well, in that same breath, every protagonist is also super talented
It's the same principle: We're guaranteed to be on a timeline where life exist, because if life doesn't exist, then we won't have a PoV at all... despite how astronomically low the odds were.
... Although I'm sure the others are right and it's just time loop of sorts. lol
Average horror game protagonist
It's really amusing that Manly has sank so many hours into these games and he just NOW realizes that Amanda's hands kinda freak him out.

it’s so easy in the first game to forget that amanda is still a little girl at heart who has been absolutely tormented by things beyond her comprehension. this sequel, seeing her face everything alone, knowing that without wooly she feels lonely… i have the feeling whatever this entity is, it feeds off the torture.
edit: one minute later and i see amanda absolutely dogging on wooly lmao.
The worst part is Rebecca is supposed to be fifteen now? Or older? Kate mentions in the orange tape that she's been at the cult for fifteen years, imagine being permanently eight.
@@yuarentlucky23 years old
@@yuarentlucky she was already about 7-8 when she was put into the tapes I believe, so shes older than 15 now.
I love the way the little round kittens roll around when they follow their Mama Cat. It's too precious and adorable, particularly in a horror game.
I could be wrong but I think:
-Wooly is a representation of the saying a wolf in sheep's clothing.
Makes the framing of the treasure tape more interesting as well; that she's doing everything in her power to will the tape towards "digging up a dead body that scares the viewer", only to be railroaded back to a pleasant ending (the stuffed bear that annoys her)
Speaking of the demon, if I understood the true ending right, Hameln wants the tapes destroyed and was manipulating Joanne & Kate into doing so (since they thought the tapes were at her house, and they burned that down)?
@@ManlyBadassHero im giggling at the fact that u responded to bro but only hearted ur own reply
It's weird how the monster is both controlled by Amanda but also has its own autonomy.
She doesn't really control it they just listen to her
One theory of mine is that it's her soul (Amanda) and her former human form (the monster). Separation of the soul and body could turn the body into something animalistic, unguided by reason without a conscious soul. She can only hold it back because they're still two halves of a whole.
@@nove5422 so Amanda's Rebecca?

The monster didn't attack when Amanda said we were trying to help...so if we keep helping her, maybe we can figure out the full truth, and save the princess, instead of slaying the dragon.
bro MIGHT have figured out the whole story 😭😭😭😭🙏🙏🙏🙏
save the princess activated my neurons and makes me hope MBH plays the Pristine Cut for Slay the Princess
Also, I prefer this take to the "Wooly is the real villain" theories
@@plasmabasher Same, I am 100% understanding and following that at the end of the day, Amanda/Rebecca herself is a gigantic victim in all of this, but some part of me absolutely refuses the idea of Wooly automatically being our supposed "real culprit/villain" in all this.

i feel like in the story the wizard would be hamlin, they tricked the princess and amanda/rebecca
As someone who has actually owned a opossum, the behavior exhibited here is alarmingly accurate lol. Especially the entire kitchen experience 😭
I gotta say this
The people behind this game really KNOW how to make it feel right.
"not putting a death behind the clear"?
@@SpecialInterestShow death for clear fails as in the complete screw ups of the player. I think that's what they mean, anyway. But I can't say I remember how the first game did it for comparison, to be honest.
bro gotta say this
@@Demokaze ohhh I think I see now. As in, not every failstate results in a death?
Respectfully, the acting in the orange tape was not very good. Some points were fine, but others felt like community theatre. I think part of it came from weak directing and possibly mid dialogue that the actors weren't allowed to/didn't feel like they could adjust to be more realistic. But for an indie horror game, it was good enough.
I really hope the next one is the final one. The premise and the execution of the story so far has been solid, but there is the worry of them milking the project and diluting the story more than it needs to be.
I agree i hate when things dont know when to end
It doesn’t feel like milking, feels more like steadily releasing the game, so people don’t forget, and to pace it out kinda, because if they made it a full game, the first to third game probably wouldn’t have been out till like, 2025 all together- There’s so much to uncover still I’m pretty sure the story won’t dilute or wtv-
Yeah it feels proper for the next one to be the final one. First game had a ton of introducing to do. This game tied up most of the loose ends but left the big ones intentionally undone. Next game should completely be the reveal of everything.
i think they could get away with 4 games, one more thats finding the cult and the last actually dealing with the cult
i kinda hope they keep with the "one central location" if only for some good ol fashioned force creativity

Huh. I suspect that the Possum was the brother, and he was trying to say "Joanne" at the end there.
I wonder why and how it got into the tapes, and why it acts like a maniac though.
on the spot theory: the tapes where the opossum isn't there were made before jordan got snatched; he got added to the show continuity after being snatched and these are the tapes we're seeing now?
can't comment on why he's an opossum, but well... he got 'sucked' into the tapes after all. so he was trying to get attention to tell you who really he is
Because he’s a kid with an energetic personality, as shown in the red tape
Oh yeah definitely. You can see the possum snap to attention the second Joanne starts speaking.
51:43 i love the fact that a demon shows up and MBH goes "i think it's an empty threat"

I really hope the third wraps things up too.
Yeah it’s a pet peeve of mine when indie games continually string you along. FNaF did that too, never giving any answers so you’re buying every new game that comes out hoping for closure

"Taxes"
Realest shit I ever heard
But, entirely wrong.
The actual danger is that of billionaires paying you minimum wage, where "minimum" is an arbitrarily-defined standard which is basically "whatever we can get away with."
Taxes pay for everything the government does, like public schooling, maintaining roads, making sure your food isn't dangerous, that sort of thing.
@Jupiter__001_ "Your taxes don't go into paying for anything like that."
Neat, what does pay for it then?

I don’t think you can save Wooly though because he is the mastermind and the real villain in this masterpiece

Can't wait for the third instalment of this game 😊
P.S: You should really play In Stars and Time.
Agree!! I don't blame anyone for thinking it's something else but to me that's the least gross and most plausible option.
Or “pull the wool over your eyes”
That's an interesting take
So much became clear to me after correctly completing the bad day tape and the subsequent orange tape, it was actually exciting!
Well said !
20:33 - "Wow really? A baby could count these toys!"
Manly (deadpan): "I'm not a baby."
For a game that was so popular I heard NOTHING about a second until now
Wait that boy who dancing while his dad record is actually the opossum and that's Jordan?? That animal like to dance and want attention in front of camera..same like the boy dance in front of his dad 😱.. that's the reason why the masked lady looking for her little brother..now i get it
I think the possum was trying to call out to Joanne. It didn't start talking until it recognized her voice
poor Kid :(
I think the is the only indie game ive seen were the monster actually acts like a monster. I LOVE the sounds it make and how it moves around the place.
Thanks for getting this up so fast, I was waiting on you specifically because you complete everything
5:11 "The names Practice. Mal Practice."
I love watching Manly playthroughs, just because he actually takes his time finding secrets and different endings. While other ytb just rush through and be done with it
0:24 I guess we now know where in the world she is now.
I knew this would be coming soon. Been checking your channel every few hours the last few days for it
same, i needed Manly's voice over this gameplay
37:02 Just me or does Ms. Cat look like Grandma? That's a weird f'ing cat.

BLINK MOTHERTRUCKER !
I was thinking over the last day or so about what Manly said at the end of the video, and I have to agree with his final thoughts. I was feeling a little dissatisfied going through this game, but I couldn't put my finger on why until Manly talked about it 2:16:21
Really, it is the monster effect in movies.
Yes! I've refused to watch any plays of this while waiting for you to get to it. Been looking forward to this.
Amanda: "Geez, can't you figure this out?"
Manly: "No, I'm a Lets Player."
I choked on my water. Like, legit spewed it over my desk and keyboard, coughing.
1:11:52
Manly : "No, this is funny to me 🗿"
*The Entity menacingly breathing behind him* 👹
More good puzzles, some solid scares and unsettling moments (the second rendition of the credits is the highlight of the game to me), and some honestly funny moments with Amanda being more openly hostile towards Wooly.
4:39 The Bleach reference amused me way more than it probably should have.
I actually said something out loud when Amanda asked if I built something that took a lot of patience (I said tooth clock [exactly as disturbing as it sounds]) and actually felt offended when indirectly insulted for the time, glue, enamel, and batteries it took to make that thing.
I've been patiently for him to play this game. My waiting has paid off. Thank the gods!
9:38 The humor of this part is so good, cause I thought she was just gonna throw it onto the floor to smash it, then she pulls out that comically huge mallet 😭
REALLY good cold open, I'm excited already! Thanks Manly!
I was just looking for something to watch, perfect timing!
Was waiting for manly to do the sequel. While others started there playthrough I waited for this!
The actors and surely the director are doing the most. I'm really impressed by how consistently good they are.
Glad you survived the hurricane
Hey manly, if you let the possum break Amanda's shovel in the bandits tape, you will find a familiar metallic object, which always makes you mention a certain MIT sciencist.
Yeah that happens in the video
Wollie is the demon Balan. Balan is mentioned in the tape being summoned, and is often depicted with a Sheeps Head.
Amanda is probably Bael, also summoned, more powerfull than Balan (thats why she often mocks him) and often depicted with 3 heads (like our demon).
Wooly getting angry with the story Amanda must be like "Now you see what I have to deal with."
Indie horror games really need to get over the idea that, "I'm sorry, but you signed a contract" to justify getting away with blatantly illegal things. Contracts do not override law, and you cannot legally sign away basic rights.
Gotta say though, I love how they animated the monster moving. Super uncanny.
dude
it wasn't a LEGAL contract. It was a BLOOD contract. So yes, they can quite literally do whatever they want.
@@ThatOne-s6g I refuse to believe that normal dude looked at a blood contract and said, "Yeah, pass me that knife." Suspension of disbelief only goes so far.
@@thacobell4700 well they only need to poke his finger with a needle with him willingly placing it on the paper...... why does everyone go full slit wrist/palm whenever a demon is involved?
to be fair they are already holding rebbeca hostage. they have him locked up . so in his mind likely signing a contract of any kind is better than all the stuff going on anyways. its bad writing sure but without bad writing we wouldnt have nearly as many stories and games that we do >_
@@thacobell4700 Pen with blood for ink
@@thacobell4700 he was pretty clear in that video that he had been kidnapped and forced to do a bunch of stuff, it's pretty easy to force someone to perform a blood ritual when you just threaten their daughter
When I feel down or I need something to change my mind, watching your videos is perfect. Thank you for your channel
I wondered when this was gonna drop. Manly, thanks for all the work you do!
Manly shouting “Animal animal!” Is hilarious to me for some reason lol
I will say the attention to detail with the facial animations with their limited design is impecable
Yay!!! Ive been waiting for you to play this! Avoiding spoilers and all that
37:10 Cardinals are my favorite bird, and I believe in the superstition regarding them, which makes this all the more harder to watch.
Aren’t they said to be the souls of departed loved ones or something like that?
I love your letsplays so so much!! I feel so cool that I knew about mouthwash before it was out because I watched you play the demo! You’re so thorough, respectful, & badass 🫡❤️
still cannot believe that caseoh did a ragequit after the death scene and missed the whole game lmao
He what? 😂
Wait what? When did the Amanda devs get feedback saying their game was “too scary”?
I was literally checking your channel for new uploads when this showed up
I haven't watched it all yet but I have a feeling that first secret tape (Orange) theres something there. The guy says "Can we just Pause" and given the VHS nature of things it feels like pausing there could show something.
This isn't dora the explorer...
It's not Diego the adventurer either...
It is also not Jojo Bizarre adventure
@@MartsVODsGo Diego Go! You mean
@@andrewmonaco1240 Nah, the joke was over, stop.
Yes it is stop gaslighting us
Just because something doesn't have replay value doesn't make it have any less value as a game (this is just my opinion of course, I respect yours as well)
45:43 I already dislike monkeys a LOT, so I was already on edge, but DAMN monkey jumps are actually chilled me
Perfect video to wake up to at 12 in the morning. Thank you Manly!!!
Oh boy Manly uploaded~
I like how Manly had to do a double take on that book with a leech.
I do hope we get more scares in the future.
i feel like you just vomitted up all your thoughts on the video into one comment lol
@ItzYell0w33 2 hour comment baby! I apologized for putting you through my word vomit. I like writing stuff that really shouldnt be given much thought to whenever anyone comes across it lol.

Only 45 minutes into the video but that possum is SUPER suspect. I'm looking at him suspiciously
Big fan of the they/them knight in Amanda's version. Might also be Wooly's version but I don't feel like rewinding to find out
Wooly is SUCH a square
I love the character building! I have a good feeling that this is going to lead to a heart wrenching trilogy!
The fact I was waiting for YOU to upload the gameplay instead of watching other youtubers ❤
dude, Manly releasing this.... it's like a salvation. Manly is always releasing videos when I need it the most. Whether it's college, doing something tedious in my computer, fixing something, etc
Today, I am doing the really difficult thing of moving every file from my hard drive to another hard drive.
1:00 “You’re like Carmen Sandiego meets the Question”
I’m so used to hearing Manly drop anime references that the random comic book reference gave me whiplash lmao
Been waiting for this
Hell yeah! Been waiting for this. Thank you Manly, you're a badass hero.
I love how the creepy spider mouse thing just waited there. It immediately made me think "cool, we frens now". Like proper "i can fix her"/stockholm syndrome shit. Boy, I wouldn't survive 15 min in a horror movie.
I've been waiting eagerly for you to upload this!
i feel like the possum might be amanda’s dad, it could be him trying to get in her way and stop her from doing bad things, while wooly could be someone from the company acting as her friend just to keep her imprisoned in the show (idk though just a thought)
why would he wait this long? Amanda acts like this is the first time she'd seen him
If the next game is not the last one this series will 100% overstay its welcome.
That last recording of aunt Kate...that voice acting was spectacular omg 2:07:09
