This game got me surprisingly emotional -- which makes sense, Perfect Vermin is far, far more than enough to show how competent these devs are at making a game that can hit on a hard level, but, damn and also From what little I am able to tell from the game's intro sequence, I can only assume the game takes place after a biblically accurate round of Space Station 13 where the station experienced a clown takeover of some sort but i could be mistaken.

I like how 'mature' it is. Mature, as in, it doesn't shy away from serious topics like Delilah's terrible past life, or the christmass tree being a grave with bitter sweet messages from Cynthia's family, etc, etc. It treats itself seriously and not seriously right when it needs to (for a 2d platformer) and i appreciate that. It has potential.

Clowns made to be meat? That’s neat - No okay, It’s probably obscure but Andrew Hussie has a comic about a clowns eating other clowns (unknowingly), and it seeing the title made me think of it.
Clown Meat is adorable! I wanna hug him. Delilah is so nice ;-;;;; she deserved better. You can see white hand prints on her body even though her skin is naturally dark-toned, meaning that those are someone else's handprints, and the fact that her chest is completely covered in white... well, you can piece together what happened. ;-;;;;; That, along with being kidnapped as a younger girl, kept in a cell for years, and with amputated legs so that she couldn't run, its genuinely horrific what happened to her...
If they didn't let her choose, and considering she doesn't mention her original name, that probably means she doesn't remember... They've probably kept her trapped for so long she doesn't know what her real name was anymore. That's so damn sad. They didn't even give her the dignity to keep the memory of who she was before being caged....
Jesus. Demo or not, I was NOT expecting this to be anything that it was. I assumed this would just be some lighthearted slapstick, but the humor is perfectly balanced against everything else. All I know is that I cried pretty ugly more than once - that tree absolutely did me in lol
‘’Sálo 120 flavors of Italian chocolate” is probably a reference to a horrible snuff Italian movie called Sálo as well, where a lot of stuff happens including eating “Chocolate” …
Do you even know what a snuff film is? Just curious, because that's not what Salò is. If anything, Salò is an exploitation film, based on a novel that contains a sadist's sick fantasies. Snuff films are films that contain real life acts of extreme violence, not ones played out by actors. Some will argue that they also have to be available for purchase to be called "snuff films", which is stupid because real life murder is still real life murder... Let's not misuse words.

Yeah, this game is gonna be something special when it comes out. Such a strong demo. The platforming lokks great, but the story and worldbuilding is shockingly interesting. The conversation with Bruno was so well done.
I'm assuming the clowns are from Jupiter purely for pun reasons. Jove = Roman name for Zeus = namesake for Jupiter. The game calls Jupiter beings Jovians (again, because Jove), which means stuff from Jupiter might be "jovial," which is another word for the type of amusement that clowns embody.

I forgot space station 13 existed... UNTIL NOW.
Honk mother round ending
I agree completely! I haven't seen the other games yet, but I'm looking forward to watching them too. I'll admit that I cried a bit at certain times at this silly game. And it's just the demo! It's so wholesome but dark and sad too. It's just a really nice game overall.
Except the Clowns in Space Station 13 cause more chaos
I like how 'mature' it is.
Mature, as in, it doesn't shy away from serious topics like Delilah's terrible past life, or the christmass tree being a grave with bitter sweet messages from Cynthia's family, etc, etc.
It treats itself seriously and not seriously right when it needs to (for a 2d platformer) and i appreciate that. It has potential.
55:59 I don’t know why, but this line hit me right in the heart. Another life simply wouldn’t have been mine.
I simply cant understand anyof MeatRide's line but I swear they mean some deep shit😭😭
@@asdassafasd5653
I think it's saying that, yes the life they had was awful, but if they were to simply be someone else to get out of having that crap life, it would have rendered all that pain and suffering and effort to get out of that crap time of their life pointless as there would have been no effort needed.
I could be completely wrong though.
The concept is great on its own, but not enough people talk about how funny, sharp and sensitive all at once Talia's writing is. When I watch/play her games, I feel like I'm talking to a dear friend.
"Game where clowns are made of meat"
a-are they not usually...?
They aren't, why did you think they tasted so funny..?
@@DonQuixoteReal-Official Booooo
They're made of cake, because clowns usually taste like cake
I thought that clowns were some type of fungus...
@@spamburner9303 😢 that’s a missed pun you should have said I thought clowns were a type of fungi (fun guy). Change it right now 👹
this dev always really highlights the ugliness of humanity with a sort of crazed positivity that is both meaningful and harrowing.
NOOO THEY ATE MY HOMIES THE JUGGALOS.
Honestly i absolutely adore the dialog in this game
Its so charming and well done, it makes all of the characters so interesting in their own ways and it handles some pretty serious subject matter in a very graceful way
I'm super hype for the finished game!
Space Clowns... I'm remember an old movie about clowns putting people into balloons before drinking them with a silly straw.
Killer Klowns from Outer Space, love that fill but shockingly only saw it recently.
@@TaliabobMair Oh wow, that's the movie. I just searched the title you gave. Thanks a lot.
saw that movie when I was a child and low key is probably the reason I don’t like clowns LOL
I thought it was cotton candy, but I might be wrong
@@KingCrimsonRequiemAct4GoBeyondNo you're right. Shit was weird but oh so funny
Clown Meat is the cutest little thing. Even if they turn into a meatball.
Also. R.I.P. to the extinct twinks.
i love that as a society we have decided that clowns absolutely cannot have originated on earth
they have? I thought clowns were like powdered juice. just a bit of sugar, flour and makeup in a small bag which says "add water"
I like the detail of the Jovial one(and consequently all the clowns) coming from Jupiter of all the other planets, as Jupiter, at least in Roman astrology, is associated with influencing happiness
It also has a big red spot, like a clown nose
It’s also where girls go to get stupider
Man, the vibe of this world is great, is kinda funny, kinda sad, kinda nostalgic but at the same time hopeful for the future, it feels amazing.
Also, I love the super meat boy gameplay focused on speedrunning, I hope this game has a succesful development and gets a full release, it looks like a lot of fun.
"I've only known about Clown Meat for an hour, 20 minutes, and 43 seconds. But if anything happened to him, I would kill everyone in this room and then myself."
I just love how Clown Meat is just a normal kid asking questions cuz they're curious, and no one treats them like they're speaking of taboo. Though they're not all respectful to each other, they still answer with a good explanation. It's a beautiful way of representation and showing that kids shouldn't be punished for their natural curiosity.
my god, when i clicked on the vid titled 'clown meat', i didn't expect to be giggling at some interactions and bawling by the end of it! this game is so incredibly charming, wish to see more from the dev!
thanks for the playthrough, Manly! :)
42:23 This is so pure, and I absolutely adore everything about it.
"this game is a platformer" they said. They kinda left out the fact it's got more dialogue than the more recent final fantasy games.
That's not saying much. Get back to me when it surpasses 7, 8, and 9.
Not only is the visual style beautiful, the story of the world and characters is so thoughtful and entertaining... i almost cried at the grave tree and Delilah... go forth and bring joy, little Clown Meat
Man, I was absolutely mesmerized by MeatRide’s poetry, the writer of these games always is amazing at it
OMG A GAME ABOUT ME

Yeah, I'm also surprised

For anybody wondering, the random stuff Spit Roast says is verbatim the dialogue of an NPC called Zebbie Sayer from a previous game of the devs, called Brutal Orchestra
is it just giberish? or is it some kind of code, because clown meat seems to react strongly towards it at the end
Okay I think I need this game. Existentialism, clowns, and quite possibly one of the most diverse casts of characters, with wholesome representation from many different sexualities, neurodivergence, and presumably ethnicities, all packed into a post-apocalyptic world with gameplay similar to super meat boy? Hell Yeah!
it's got LISA vibe like crazy, right
For a horror clown game, the Main Character looks so cute ;_;
IT SQUEAKS
And nooooooooooo, Twinks canonically died out
Clown Meat is adorable!
_Honk_
This was a real cool game. Love the little voice sounds. I cant believe this is just a demo. That skateboard animation was soo smooth. Theres was a lot of content. So much dialogue too. Im interested where the story goes. Love the little honks.
OH MY GODS THIS STORY IS GETTING SO SADD, THE TREE GRAVE IS MAKING ME CRY
@@homestuckreference4439 yup. As soon as Nosewall died I knew shit was about to get depressing and then Delilah showed up which was soul crushing and then the grave showed up to kick us while we’re down
Something about this game's setting and concepts tickle my brain in just the right way, and I really look forward to seeing more of this when it comes out. I'm especially intrigued to see the other playable characters you can unlock~
FYI, Vega and Deneb are the names of the brightest stars in the Lyra and Cygnus constellations
Clowns made to be meat? That’s neat -
No okay, It’s probably obscure but Andrew Hussie has a comic about a clowns eating other clowns (unknowingly), and it seeing the title made me think of it.
I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT I REMEMBER READING UP ON THAT THING
AN HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTE MANLY VIDEO!
Edit: Manly likes playing games where anything is made of meat huh
Apparently
Suspicious
Manly often does very meaty episodes!
The more surreal it is, the more Manly is intrigued.
meaty meat game where your meat is made of meat and the monster meat wants to eat your meat
The old guy at the camp wo spoke gibberish at 45:21 i think is a reference to a character in the game Brutal Orchestra
what was he saying, cause clown meat was specifically like weirded out?
@@erosburrow Nothing, What they were saying cannot be translated (as far as I know), same with the Brutal Orchestra character it is a reference to.
Listening to Clown Meat interact with some of these characters was bitter, and sweet, and almost nostalgic in a way that I'm having a really difficult time properly articulating? All I know is that I cried pretty ugly more than once - that tree absolutely did me in lol
It is incredibly obvious this game has had so much love and effort put into it, I'm super excited for the next part/full release!!
This game is cool as shit, love the designs, animations, characters, voices, everything looks fun
‘’Sálo 120 flavors of Italian chocolate” is probably a reference to a horrible snuff Italian movie called Sálo as well, where a lot of stuff happens including eating “Chocolate” …
It totally is. Salo's subtitle is 120 days of Sodom so it definitely isn't a coincidence.
I'm pretty sure ludo's use of snuff was just a descriptor and not actually saying it IS a snuff film
This is honestly such a fascinating setting, and I'm surprised at the incredible amount of emotional depth to the characters and the story. It's a legit work of art that I can't wait to see more of
The Tech Deck insert animation is hilarious
Been a ManlyBadassFan for some years now. I've had to watch numerous videos repeatedly (the ones over an hour) because your smooth baritone voice is soothing it puts me to sleep. I do not mean that as an insult in any sort of way.
Im a clown, but im not made entirely of meat, so i guess this game sorta applies to me.
What's the rest of you made out of? Confetti?

_“For the rain it raineth every day”_ ~ Shakespeare
Some people just don't live in the sunshine, like people who wear always wear clown makeup. This had such unexpected depth to the story and characters. And I don't mean like the Miner, but that was sad and horrific, especially his take on what humans are and do. The stories of Delilah and the Grave Tree were tragic and poignant.
My favorite of the voices was Keith's from the van - it was totally perfectly happy. And I really liked the way MBH did the voice for Clown Meat - he gave it a lightness and sweetness of innocence that fit well. Looking forward to your playing the full game!!
opened the video, skipped to a random part because i was gonna watch it later anyway, and you say "Get me out. I don't wanna be in Seattle anymore."

Honestly, I am already so attached to this demo
If I had a nickel for every time a game featured meat clowns that can turn themselves into spheres I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's strange it happened twice.
1- Lobotomy Corporation - Crimson Ordeals
2- This game
I love how the levels are all titled after songs. And they even include Modest Mouse which is dope.
The gameplay and general design seem inspired by Super Meat Boy (which is a very good thing) to the point where I wonder if even the name of the game is an homage. Impressive.
I like how this game is so goofy and has so many jokes, but when you start paying attention to the dialog it's quite philosophical and has so much social commentary
This game is literally amazing!! i AM GENUINELY HOPING YOU PLAY THE FULL GAME WHEN IT COMES OUT!!! I want to see this story through sooo badly
Yeah, this game is gonna be something special when it comes out. Such a strong demo. The platforming lokks great, but the story and worldbuilding is shockingly interesting. The conversation with Bruno was so well done.
I really liked the conversations/story with the different characters. A lot of care and thought went into this game.
I love how the jupiter is saying things and clown-meat is just terrified and confused
Holy shit that grave tree segment has no right being that touching.
Since you asked about saying "Tittes". I Googled youtube's advertiser guidelines and this is what it says...
"Videos containing “moderate” profanity will be eligible for complete monetization. Those containing “stronger” profanity in the first 7 seconds will receive limited monetization. You won't be demonetized for profanity in background music, backing tracks, or intro or outro music". Jan 2024.
Super Meat Boy, but more horror(?) and CLOWNS!
This is one of those playthroughs that I had to stop almost immediately to go and play the game only to learn that it isn't actually out yet.
I love this dev and I unironically love clowns so I am excited for it.
