2016 Honda Accord: 5 Cool Things

  • Welcome to Five Cool Things from www.JeanKnowsCa...!
    The Honda Accord is one of America's most respected sedans. It has won thirty Car and Driver 10 Best awards in its lifetime, more than any other car.
    The 2016 Accord offers the premium Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver assist technologies that help assist the driver to stay on the road, in the lane, and out of trouble.
    The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has given the Accord its top safety rating for crashworthiness: the Top Safety Pick Plus.
    Here are the Five Cool Things you'll find on the 2016 Accord.
    1. At the top of my hit list, for the first time in a Honda, is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the ultimate smartphone connectivity, offering you seamless, hands-free connection to your phone, your music, and some of your favorite apps. All of that coming through a nice big touchscreen display so you're looking forward at your touchscreen instead of down at your phone.
    2. There's a V-6 engine in the Touring edition. Honda didn't have to put a V-6 in the Accord. This category typically uses a turbocharged four-cylinder engine for a power boost. I'd rather have a V-6, and this one has 278 horsepower. It sounds great, it's responsive, and it has soul. It also has a six-speed automatic transmission that helps it get 34 miles per gallon on the highway.
    3. Not only does the Accord have a multi-angle rearview camera,which gives you a choice of three different backup views, it has LaneWatch, which is one more camera that shows you live video of the right lane when you flip on your right turn signal. It's perfect for going around tight turns but also for seeing that big rig roaring up on you just as you're about to change lanes on the freeway.
    4. The Accord already has a huge trunk, but now there's also a 60/40 folding rear seat. There's a release on each side, basically turning this thing into a mini-ute.
    And the split seat accommodates the long load and a passenger at the same time.
    5. Do you like your back-seat passengers? Well, you can now give the two outboard passengers heated seats. Share the love! The middle-seat passenger: still out of luck.
    Pick your own cool things about the Accord at www.automobiles....

    It's 2021 and this car has aged gracefully. I've owned a 01 Accord exl, 2006 Accord Exl, 2008 Accord exl v6 and now currently own a 16 accord exl. This car is sexy and quite elegant. The rear led lights are clean and look like they were taken right off a BMW. I prefer this style/ yr than the current 2018-2020 model.

The 7 disc CD player, the glove box light, more storage places, holding straps under each visor, coin holder, and a temp control on the steering wheel. Etc... I love it and I will not get rid of it, BUT, every time Honda comes out with a new generation or refresh (except for the 2011-2012 :-/), I have a really hard time NOT buying a new Accord. I love Honda. I am on my 9th Honda if you include my wife's CR-V, and my lawn mower. I own a 2012 Honda Accord Ex. But I think there is too much hype going on the automobile industry right now. To get better reviews and technology (Apple Car Play etc.), they made it 3 inches shorter, they switched the steel hood and trunk for aluminum (never as strong as steel), and most importantly they took out the front double wishbone suspension. Don't tell me there is no difference between the multi-link and double wishbone until you have driven both down a curvy mountain highway; the double wishbone is a BIG difference. They may have taken it out because it is easier to get front crash results up without it (I don't know why), but I remember that was the reason they took it out of my 2002 Civic. Less weight, no steel hood to absorb shock, it makes sense. Or they just trimmed the cost to put in the touch screen Apple Play/Android Auto. Dumb.
    I am disappointed. I think they are cutting the wrong corners. Touch screens are fun, but distracting, annoying, and they only keep up with the technology for a couple of years. My Galaxy phone mounted on the dash board is far better than any navi system more than 5 years old. Also, you can put in great aftermarket cameras and touchscreens for under a 1,000$. I am disappointed that so many reviewers are easily swayed by a few toys that don't really make the ride any better.
    The differences are something to weigh carefully -- especially when you can get a used car for a fraction of the cost of a new one. Get a 5 year old Accord, save the price difference for a trip, or Christmas. The 2012 Accord has the same safety ratings:)

    Does it come with lane change assist and tire pressure monitor?

    • @viperatedrko
      @viperatedrko 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +BoredThatsWhy The Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) comes with all models/trims of the 2016 Accord. However, from the LX to the EX-L V6 model, you'll need to purchase the Honda Sensing Package in order to get the Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS). Both features come standard on the Touring model. But if you're simply talking about the blind spot camera that was shown in this video, all 2016 Accord models EX or higher come with this feature.

    • @BoredThatsWhy
      @BoredThatsWhy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      DecipheredEnigma Hey thanks for the reply. Thinking about picking up the touring trim. I noticed it does have blind spot alert, example, when changing lanes and there is a car in your your blind spot there is a beep or light that flashes alerting you before you merge. Correct? Also the TPS doesnt give you the reading but just alerts you, right?

    • @viperatedrko
      @viperatedrko 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +BoredThatsWhy I'm also gonna get a 2016 Accord so I did some research. Since the Touring Model does come with the Honda Sensing, I believe it can use the Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) or the Lane Departure Warning (LDW) sensors to detect if you're coming to close to a car. And I believe for the tire pressure, I don't think it doesn't give you an actual reading on it but just a light indicator when one of your tires falls out of the recommended PSI range. Keep in mind, I don't own an Accord and also thinking of getting one so what I say may not be fully correct,

    • @BoredThatsWhy
      @BoredThatsWhy 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      DecipheredEnigma That's what I have found so far also. The TPS only indicates a warning and does not give reading. I am pretty sure they do not have a blind spot monitor but a lane change assist only, which is a bit of a let down but something you I can live with. Which model are you trying to get?
