      It is mental masturbation, but if it’s done properly they’re such a good use of time. If you’re watching a couple self help videos a day, take a break in between, feel your presence, and then reflect for a while. I have a rule, If I watch a 15 min self help video, I’ll reflect for ~15 minutes after. And then after that practice is over, I go practice irl. That helped a lot and continues to benefit me. A couple years ago i would watch 4 eckhart tolle videos back to back to back to back without any of my own thoughts. An hour later, I’d be forgetting what he said in the first video 🤣

    🙏 You really opened up my eyes, especially with the depression part and ruminating alone. I think very similar to you with overconsumption of music, shows, and games. It really does leave no room for your mind to think by itself and has no realistic benefits for you. Again, thank you for the message.

    Funny because "speaking the truth" by making sure your ideas are actually your own is one of JPs main ideas. Changed the game for me and it's almost scary when you realize how much of what you/others believe is face value regurgitation. Mass media influence. Great video

    Yeah, walking all the time is a life changing habit, got me down to a healthy weight and is fun. Video games are sadly one of the biggest time sinks almost as much as tv shows, i only dip into vidya but with the way i usually do it, it can never be a healthy amount. Just need to focus on the grind and have the mindset of i can always play them after i achieve greatness.

    Valuable lessons Elisha. I was just hit with a pretty big rejection but with running, journalling, meditation , making music and videos etc, I’ve been able to process and move on from the situation very quickly and use it to pivot back into a disciplined daily routine. Brothers unite!

    Thank you for making this video. I know you're mostly speaking to men but this applies to women, too. We are completely disconnected from ourselves, most of us don't stand for anything anymore, we have no set value systems we live by, and nothing to show for ourselves. Again, thank you. I'm in the journey of cutting out all these distractions. Not gonna lie, it's extremely hard. But knowing that I'm not alone gives me some courage. God bless you.

      Then go on living life, cultivating that spirit.
      This may require time alone with nothing but you, your thoughts and God.
      Maybe God is always there, and we're just too destracted to feel him.

      I had to hit rock bottom before I opened up to the concept of God like I literally lost everything all I had was the shirt on my back and God it was the following week someone gave me a Bible and a month or so after that I was baptized in the name of Jesus at a Pentecostal church as soon as I was baptized a “spiritual veil” was lifted and I began to see and discern things in the world and other people I never saw before then one by one I began to purge my bad habits my “sins” and day by day it became easier to turn away from “things” of the world I’m still not perfect and I’m still developing but I’m in a much better totally different place than I was back then sometimes the only way to find god is to literally lose everything so all you can focus on is god when there’s no money no food no friends no girls no anything all there is is God that’s when you find him

    also agree on the beginning. I have too many friends/coworkers whose talking points always sound like they’re coming straight from all the red pill videos out there. making me wonder if they have any original opinions/ideas.

    Brother I feel like you’re approaching a stage that’s very near the teachings of Islam. Our world is in a constant spiritual battle, and evil always try to get us back into our urges, into lust, into listening to meaningless music that contain bad lyrics for our spirit, our soul, into drugs, or just any distraction that is filled with programming and that drifts us away from God and our purpose, our mission. The truth is we need a guide in life, something that tells us how to live our life and what is right & wrong, what’s good and bad for us. We cannot pick and choose depending on how we feel since that can constantly change, we cannot change our core values either just because the western degenerate world does. That guide to life for me is Islam and I invite you to look into it, let me know if you have any questions. Loving the recent videos btw.

    great content as usual bro, can you make a video on "why we like being lazy" or something like that, like i get the feeling once someone is out of employment for example, maybe they hated their job, could that be why we become lazy.
    or like in general, why just why do we like to be chilling around (i find myself to feel this way very often) it's kind of like society doesn't want us to be this way but yet i think many of us probably are into this chill/laziness thing.
    anyways, you are the man for these kinda topics, hope you make some vid about this.
    I'm sure you've already done some,imma TH-cam it lol

    Great video, Elisha! I agree with most of the points and this actually motivated me to start giving some time each day to read. One thing that I kind of disagree and agree with is your second point about having honest conversations and they way you should have them. I find myself saying a lot of the stuff that you mentioned like "JBP said this and some other guy said this", but I find that most of the most honest conversations I have and had start with discussing some deeper idea like that. We all are what experiences and our base biology makes us and so I come to realize that it's not just to think of an idea yourself as we mostly borrowing that from the environment and other people. I think that those ancient ideas that stay around in religion, philosophy and so on have stayed around because when people read or listen to them, that what makes them think and begin to shape their own view of it. So, what I wanted to say with this is that I think that the ideas from better men than me are important to think about and discuss with others and that's how you are able to have honest conversations with others as these ideas are not something superficial and offer some deep exploration of each other's minds when discussed.

    • @ElishaLong
      @ElishaLong  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What I am saying is it's not honest conversation when men are just repeating things they've heard on TH-cam without actually understanding.

    I agree with a lot of what you're saying and just this week I've started a media detox because I just felt like I was wasting so much of my time and energy and just numbing myself, so thank you for your message. BUT there is something that bugs me. You talk about not wanting something that someone else told you, yet you quote the bible. isn't religion one of the oldest most basic kinds of programming? the bible itself was written to control people, so you gotta reject that shit man. Because the world isn't that simplistic. I'm not an atheist anymore, but I will also never believe in a specific god. I think the universe itself is conscious and everything is so much more complex than we could ever imagine and conceive of. We all have a long way to go in breaking our programming.

    • @ElishaLong

      Do you see no wisdom in some of the verses I use?

    • @SpiderSplicer14
      @SpiderSplicer14 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ElishaLong the only one in this video is "renew your mind daily" which I think definitely offers wisdom but you're cherry picking. I'd say there are definitely some helpful ones in the bible but also tons of fucked up verses about women or gay people, especially in the old testament. And it also doesn't change the fact that you're regurgitating other PEOPLES ideas. If you're talking about breaking the programming you have to realize that this is programming too. It was probably something you were taught from an early age and you didn't question it. We all have our confirmation biases. I won't be able to change your mind and you won't be able to change mine but maybe you can become a bit more spiritual and less religious.

    • @yellow_airman
      @yellow_airman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SpiderSplicer14 so the only reference he made in this vid to the Bible you actually agree with. Then you bring up stuff he never even mentioned and say he’s been programmed? I think you’re projecting here.

    • @liyon316
      @liyon316 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SpiderSplicer14 Everything is programming, even if it isn't mainstream programming. Eventually, you're just conforming by not conforming. I think the key is to constantly realize that you are being directed by outside forces that want to direct your thinking/life whether it's some salesperson, some politician, or some cabal of elite world-players. For example, things like youtube/social media are designed to be addicting. That's why most of us are here in the first place whether we will admit to it or not.
      The other thing is to know and consistently reinforce what your purpose in and for life is and be conscious of the energy you generate and give off. If something serves you and reinforces the energy you want to give off to the world, then use it. If it isn't, then move on quickly. Claiming religion is bad b/c it's... religion simply means you've been programmed by something else.
      It's like martial arts/MMA. Take what is useful to you and discard the rest. Instead of bad-mouthing random martial arts styles b/c it's not the one you're doing, implement what you find useful from that style, even if it's just one technique or concept and make it your own. You will simply be a better martial artist for it and that's what it all comes down to in the end.
