@@MinecraftKid120 Obligatory weight lifting, but also I attempt to make things, mostly metal, things I actually need but some that are just interesting to me.
I have a chronic back condition/bad scoliosis and need to design (mostly just copy/translate the working mechanisms into shit I can make with minimal equipment, old stick welder, hacksaw, jigsaw, files, regular hand drill) and build some fairly specialised gear for correcting it as it impacts my life massively, stretches etc just don’t cut it.
I’m currently making a cheapo peasant version almost identical in function and build to the Oak Club Manufacturing James Hooks (j hooks) for a 6x6cm squat rack I’m making. Real pair is 440 dollars, mine is currently sitting at about £60. Some of the stuff is bodybuilding stuff, it’s less complicated than the scoliosis stuff which I need a rack to mount in anyway. I need to do mostly what others would consider accessory movements, regular bodybuilding stuff is doing a number on my joints at this point anyway.
I spend a fair amount of time on eBay for parts/materials and studying pics and videos of equipment to copy, and with a notebook drawing the stuff.
I’m also making other stuff, I have an old car, part of the window pane holder rusted to bits, I’m making a replacement from brass and copper to attach to a bracket that survived the rust. It’s a rare car so no spares exist really, have to make them. For the fuel door I’ve also had to make a very small hinge mechanism with 2 fulcrums/barrels (folds back on itself) and a mounting plate, some modified bolts to replace the plastic rivets, all brass and copper. It has to move in a very particular way to unlatch, and has to fit a tiny space. I have to now make an alignment jig to drill and rivet the hinges together, so I’m like 70% done maybe more. Keeps me busy.
Far more time has been spent thinking about how to actually make the stuff with very few tools/not much money to buy more tools with. It’s easy to make anything if you have masses of scrap and new metal and a lathe, mill, drill press, arbor press etc. but I have to redesign everything multiple times to suit budget, stuff going out of stock on eBay, new deals on materials popping up, and each simple part becomes like 10 as it’s cheaper and easier to make small, technically simple pieces, everything cut on a right angle, minimal welding, no machine tools and such.
It’s not advisable but it would make a fun hobby I suppose. Won’t pretend it’s entirely fun or pleasant though, especially waiting for cheap little things like washers to arrive, or scouring eBay for deals on steel plates and such, obviously many other people don’t do this for a reason, it’s scarcely worth anyone’s time, not even mine but I have no other options. It’s what I have to do, I rely on parents money as you can’t get a job if you can’t even stand up for long enough to do shit you actually want to do. If this stuff works out I should end up with more autonomy and then shit will start going my way.
Better than PC gaming all day, or watching TH-cam.
I still watch at least 40 min or so of TH-cam each day, much of it is just research for my projects though. I’m not a monk, I do watch stuff for entertainment too, and I’m not literally always working on a project, though 90% of downtime is due to my projects reaching a roadblock (such as “how the fuck do you drill a 25mm hole with a 6mm drill bit” or something unfortunate like that) or simply running out of material, waiting for it to arrive in the post.
I do game as well but I often go weeks and months without gaming. Done like 3 hours this week after a month of not gaming.
Making stuff is a good way to pass time but it’s far more fun if there’s no stakes or anxiety tied to it, in my eyes, for the scoliosis equipment at least, it’s like a myopic focus of my life, object of my madness, I have tunnel vision at this point. A sensible alternative hobby is just cleaning up cheap old tools, you probably know someone who has some, and see if you can apply them to make something cool or useful, or to restore more tools.
If there’s something you actually want to do or feel that you need to do, Id say, you may as well try it. Personally I wish I’d started my projects when I was like 12 lol. Even if it’s something lame that you want to do, fuck it, there’s people out there sucking dick and smoking crack, can’t be that silly of a thing you want to do. May have been discounting shit you wanted to do for ages as impossible or foolish, unlike vidya, we’ve all done that.

You know, this video really hit home to me when talking about two things
#1. Not living the lone wolf path and feeling you HAVE to do and get everything in life done by yourself and you can't get any handouts when the reality is that path is a very painful one and we as humans all need help and the right people surrounding us. So ask more questions and ask for help when needed.
And #2. Is really getting away from a dead environment that doesn't serve you it's depressing, dead and no energy (not something you want to be around when you have dreams and ambition in life)
I need to find the correct people in my life, my tribe. Thank you very much 🙏

Its interesting how games were design based on natural human behivor of self improvment. When we getting better in something, where are a huge dopamine boost that engage us to the process, helps to focus more and eventually will creating an habit.
When you start a new games you usually start as some weak character who knows nothing. While you level up in the game by improving your character you create a powerful circle what basically means more you progress in the game --> more you want to getting even better to continue with progress
This shit applies to real life... just do it, till you begin to fall into the circle of improvement.

@@memesmojo5622 There are a few on google if you want to know, but if you also look historically, Samurais, native Americans, Vikings mostly had long hair, and that represented strength, maturity, some spiritual reasons, so on and so forth. It doesn't mean that having short hair doesn't apply to that as well, short hair probably has other benefits.
As for me, since my hair is growing I am more peacefully than I used to be. More self aware and since I always have to take care of my hair, I have something that I can't never procrastinate on, because of that I barely procrastinate on my other tasks.

Duuude I came back to you after 4 years and you are muuuuuch better now: more eloquent, less dogmatic, but still on the right track!
I'm blazing it, grilling IT, working the 9-5, and not going outside city at 23. I am not afraid of losing my girl but of failing her. Daily complainer, solving it all in my mind only. Listen. I need a change and will listen. Uggh. I want to start training parkour. Gosh I dooo. I am so lucky I can. I will. When. First lemme fix the bike, then clean the flat. Do not have to listen to my loo, but... Yeah. Mewing. Lets start with that!
Listen too this: Beauty is not booty. Bam!
