    This band started out as young teens being shuttled around by their parents for practice back in the day. Puget Sound kids growing up with grunge in their backyards. Their fans are rabid for them. I like nodding my head to them when their tunes come on the alternative radio station. Nice pick!

    • @sean-ew2qv
      @sean-ew2qv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, they weren't grunge followers, they were into Indie. They were making music at the same time as grunge (early 90's) yes, but they were mostly performing in Olympia where indie was king. Built to Spill, 764-hero, etc, etc. I went to school with them and saw many early shows in little venues. Great stuff!

    Modest Mouse is early entry in a group of late 90s- 00s indie bands with a newer sound. I wouldn't put The White Stripes squarely in there, but they have a foot in it. I'd throw in Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Arcade Fire. All absolutely worth listening to. Later on I'd throw in Death Cab for Cutie. Not saying they all sound the same, but there's something about them that ties them together. Postal Service definitely sounds like Death Cab though, with a bit of electronic.

    I mentioned earlier today that Stray Cats "Rev It Up And Go" was my first album...back when it was new. Ive been listening to a lot of different kinds of music for a long time. That said, Modest Mouse is one of my Top 3 bands of all time. Ive only seen them live twice, but Ive owned every album...starting my collection in1999 with "This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About" which I bought on a whim...because I had a 20 hour drive ahead of me and only a portable CD player for music along the way. The best girlfriends Ive had since then were Modest Mouse fans...and the best bars Ive worked in had Modest Mouse on the jukebox. Like Blind Melon with No Rain...or Pearl Jam with Jeremy, this was their "one hit wonder' song that everybody came to know them for, but their entire catalog is wonderful.

    Johnny Marr (In this band) was the lead guitar for the Smiths. These guys have some really good, really different music. Although this is a cover, the lyrics are so relatable.

      This song is not a cover. And Johnny Marr was only in the band for a couple years well over a decade ago.

    Modest Mouse has a very good deep catalog of music and hardly anyone ever does reactions to them. If you decide to do any more I would suggest King Rat, Missed the Boat, Dramamine, or Gravity Rides Everything. Honestly narrowing down their songs is hard because they are so good.
