    Yeah, so the one way you can distinguish the McDojo's from the guys who know w.t.f they're talking about is when they tell you, you will probably get stabbed anyway. It's pretty much inevitable, the difference is whether you're going to hospital or the morgue afterward.

    • @Sh4d0wzzz

      Pretty true , we see similar in Kalah and good combatives, the reality of the active attacker , knife plus the grab and immobilise the arm from pumping and retracting ,.
      Close hand knife control like Baraw Sugbo helps when things go wrong but gross motorskills and keeo simple and repetitive helps in real situations..
      I have had two knife attacks one when I was 19 , I had Jui jitsu and Karate trained 9 years but my Dad was military , what he taight me saved me ..I had deep cuts to my left fingers , the little finger nearly severed but I walked away or moreover run off , the second was less agressive , I had alot more training , adding Kali , Baraw Sugbo , I was working doors in my 30s..
      A laceration near the belly button but controlled the situation , so yes , we may get cut and not even feel it but we get a chance to walk away ..

    • @legendarygaming5045
      @legendarygaming5045 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      best thing is to only get cut and not stabbed, or get stabbed in the arm, because anywhere else is dangerous and the legs, you can't walk properly

      That resonated with me as well. That applies to physical interactions as well as verbal/interpersonal interactions. If you can't walk away and leave - the first option - then taking the initiative, being proactive, allows you to take control of the situation so things work out for your benefit. Great advice.

    Nice video, absolutely a legit way to defend.
    i just want to share with you that i was attacked with a broken bottle in spain at a bar.
    It went very quickly from a guy trying to make a group of friends give him money, to him taking my bottle, smashing it and him attacking me with it. When he attacked he stabbed twice. I blocked both of them with a raised knee both stabs going in my shin muscle. With the same leg, i push kicked him away, he fell, and i did too. I tried to get up but couldnt stand, i kicked him somehow from the floor and did a few other things that i dont remember before it was broken up by people in the bar. we were both taken to hospital. I had 58 stitches in my leg but im still here. My background was shotokan karate and muay thai. I believe it was the instincts and an understanding of distance that saved me that day. You cant plan, you cant really prevent it, but you can develop instincts to minimise it. Stay safe people.

    I've been training with weapons, all manner, disarming, teaching, and the first thing i say is run. If you cant you are likely to get cuts, if theyre waving a knife around frantically, but its better the hands than other places, now i like to just talk them down, sometimes they wont, so distract, and get that wrist tight no messing about, theres ways, break their wrist whilst sweeping their leg, a number of ways, that is the safest in my opinion. Then you come to stabbing motions, an average person with a knife is only using that, you are using everything, low front kicks to keep them at bay, you can just knock them out, but it depends on each scenario is different, me i teach if they lunge you go with them, the whole idea is to either knock them out or get that arm tight, and go from there, you can elbow whilst doing a fluidic motion and sweep them whilst pulling them down, and snap the wrist then make sure they are not conscious. The you come to the last type, me for example, if theyre holding the knife not facing you but instead in reverse, with the blade pointing down, and their fist just like a boxing stance, they can punch, they can come at you from a variety of angles, fluidically slashing then stabbing, also it's much more difficult to get the knife, if they take up a boxin stance this way, with the knife, blade pounting down their forearm, very calm just no emotion, they likely have some training, and thats a whole different thing.

    "...because his testicles go towards his eyeballs!" I propose that a kick in the balls is not an instantly disabling strike, and the attacker will have enough time before the pain comes on to end you. Sure, if you have a lot of weight and strength, the blow can shock, but someone who has gambled his life on ending yours is not going to stop trying because he got a kick in the balls. I'm not an experienced fighter, but I have had a blow to the balls.
    I have been thinking about it and have come up with 2 alternatives: Focus on the hand and arm the attacker is holding you with. Is there an effective hold? Or focus on the eyes of your attacker. Harder to stab you if he can't see you. And think about it: If you were going to stab someone the last thing you'd expect is that your opponent (victim) goes into a full-on attack at your eyes.

    • @schoolofselfprotection
      @schoolofselfprotection  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because you are not experienced fighter like you said yourself you came up with a fine motor skill like attacking the eyes..and who said the knee in the groin was a guarantee? You did. Not me. I always teach them how to branch and go to another skillset if one fails. Hand/eye coordination will disappear very fast if somebody wants to make holes in you. Attacking the eyes how you explain is exactly that.

      @@schoolofselfprotection thanks. I guess I’ll learn more as I attend more. I’m only a newbie (but freaking love it)
      He cycled past on his bike on a path. Like many cyclists have done for years as I walked my dog. Didn’t seem anything risky so I wasn’t on red alert. Esp at 7.15am. He then jumped off his bike and came from behind.
      It never got physical. Thankfully I stayed calm (amazingly he allowed me to put my hand in my pocket and get my phone). The video made him back off. But he had before then cowered over me waving his fist screaming obscenities.
      I considered running away but there was no way I was gonna leave my dog. He can hardly walk let alone run (he’s very old). I’ll take a beating over abandoning him to be hurt by a nut job. Right or wrong that’s why I didn’t run for my life.
      But it dawned on me I needed self defence skills had it have got physical. I got away lightly on this one I am aware of that. 🙏🙏
      And I agree had I have got the defence skills he wouldn’t have got close enough to cower over me. I’m learning this a lot from the small amount of training I’ve had - and from vids like this. So thanks ! 🙏🙏

    I like this guy but people would be better off learning a GOOD martial arts, which is the development of skills, rather than pursuing received knowledge, which will always be at need

      The people need Combatives for self protection. Instead of martial arts. Combatives is the condensation of all martial arts. They stuff that works under real fight stress stays.

      @@schoolofselfprotection of those that do these things, I think you’re the best.
      Thinking about it, we should campaign to legalise .32 guns, of no more than 7 rounds and with fair tests. You can defend yourself with a .32 but it’s a pretty crap attack weapon.
