I was lucky enough to interview her on the phone one time at a radio station she and Johnny were in the Bahamas and she called in. She's doing the interviewing we could hear somebody snoring in the background. After a couple of minutes she says hold on just a second. He can hear smack somebody and you can hear Johnny in the background kind of Mumble what and she told him he was a snoring and he needed to quit because she was on the telephone trying to talk. That is absolutely the most genuine interview I've ever had with any performer ever.
Always loved June Carter!!! While talented instrumentally, could sing real country, I believe her comedy was unmatched. She didn't need a script or teleprompter. If you never saw her at Ryman ( before Cash), she was an entertainers' entertainer!! Always included a dance, kick off shoes, etc. She certainly impressed a young girl. Continued with her music & comedy, just little less "cutting up". Big admiration to Johnny when he had someone go public (newspapers etc) asking for prayer for June when she was in hospital last time. Not many celebrities will publicly ask for prayer.
