Thanks. It's nice to have you explain this slowly and easily. I set up my phone, played the vid and paused it when I needed to. I did not know to clean out holes. Put rail on new slug gun.
I just got my Talley one piece Scope Mount from Henry 2 days ago.I Contacted Henry asking about the Torque of the mount Screws to the Rifle.Customer Service Thomas Kotz product manager responded and said 22 inch pounds is the magic number for the screws to the Rifle Base and also the screws securing the Scope to the mount. And just like you said one drop of Blue Loctite to each Screw. Thanks Plinkster for the videos you do and really enjoy your Shooting Talent!!
I just bought two Henry rifles, a .45 long colt and a 45-70 and I really enjoy the hell out of them. I am going to mount scopes on each and this really helps. Thanks brother!
Thank you from July 2024! I just got my Henry X model in .38/.357 and got my picatinny rail but wasn't sure how many inch/pounds to torque. Mounting a Vortex Spitfire on it. So excited!!! Appreciate your help Twenty Two. And yes I remember OPERATION! Bzzzzz!
I love Henry Repeating Arms they're so fun. I think it would be great if they could make a 10mm lever action rifle, and a made in America or not made at all 12GA coach gun would be too cool.
As we get a little older, help with our eye sight is a must. Good stuff. Just wish you would have said " BLUE LOCTIGHT: is the stuff. I know you showed the bkue BUT someone will still use the red---- oh my
This is great. Very straight forward. I was wondering how to know what scope rings to buy? I have a leupold 1.5-4 freedom scope x 20 mm I want to mount on my henry HO10GAW rifle. Thank you.
Is there any structure damage mounting this rail to the brass receiver? Or is there additional steps to take? I've got a Henry Big Boy .357 Magnum and I'll be adding either the scope rail or the fiber optic mount to it and just wanted to know before starting.
Will I be able to use both iron sights and the scope or are the iron sights pointless now. I went hunting with someone's rifle once and I was able to see under the scope for very close range firing, and that's what I want to to do with my henry
Good video. A couple questions. First, is 14inch pounds the standard for steel big boys? Also, assuming the bell of the scopes aren’t too big, what height of scope rings can you use that isn’t too low for the hammer but not too high to make the shooter pull their head up? I know the Henry brand rails are a little tall themselves. Thanks!
I bought a used one.. and it had a s ope mount. Looks similar to this.. but they mounted it on the barrel itself.. Not sure how i felt about the barrel being slightly drilled into but at least theyre tiny screws
I bought a piciting rail, and when I went to put it on my rifle, none of my screw drivers worked to take out the original 3 screws I tried a knife and nothing worked what should I do?
Hello, I just got my X model and would like to add a Picatinny rail. This video is A good one to see what I needed to know. I now need a torque screwdriver (any reason to buy a tool is good). What I would like to know, Is the rail for big boy the same for the X, or is there another one I should should find?
If you are still looking, henry’s website has all the parts and accessories (including the rails) and they are pretty good about labeling what part is for what rifle model
i have a question though...just bought a henry off of a friend, but it is not drilled and tapped...is there a scope mount I can purchase or am I going to have to have this drilled/tapped then purchase scope and mount?
Man im trying to find out what I need to but a scope on golden boy 17 hmr if you can help me with what parts I need would be greatly appreciated thanks
the screwdriver that you used... where did you get it?? i've been trying to find a set that looks like that, my hand cant take the little tiny ones....
Is Henry quality control going from good to bad? Just got a Big Boy and found one of the screw heads on the receiver was stripped partially, and the rear sight windage was off to the right a lot. This is new in box.
Is the front portion of the scope touching the rear iron sight an issue? I have seen a video that showed it caused no issues whatsoever. Any word from the reps?
Shouldn't you put any lock tight on the bottom of the lever between receiver and lubricate any area between you don't have lock tight. What about the brass Henry will the 14 in pound suffice.
do they have scope bases that sit a tad lower? This sit a little high, makes it handy to clear the iron sight but I'm looking to possibly put raised scope mounts on it so I can use a scope and the iron sights but this mount is so high it blocks my view, that or I'll just keep it as low as possible
I bought my first lever action Winchester 94 in 1974. Cost me 74 bucks. I worked all summer for it. I bought a Henry Big Boy in .357 last year and I love it. I am probably in the minority here but the thought of putting a scope on a beautiful lever action cowboy gun always made me a little queasy. I'm starting to come around and I guess if it's a dedicated hunting rifle, it makes a lot of sense. We do have a moral obligation to strive for clean humane kills.
If you still haven’t found the mount yet, go to henryrepearingarms.com and view “parts.” They list 5 or 6 mounts, including the Weaver, Picatinny, and a one-piece Talley - that I just mounted on my .44 BB.
22 Plinkster what good budget 3x9 40 scope do you recommend 100 yard maxx my eyes arnt what they used to be it will be mounted on my Big boy brass 44 mag thanks
Using that big ol' Q-Tip is pretty much pointless. Next time try a pipe cleaner. It is smaller, you can double the end, if necessary, and it is definitely smaller than the hole so you'll get all of the threads.
Many hobby shops have screw holders. They're little steel tubes with a plunger on one end and three little fingers that come out when you depress the plunger. You put your screw head at the fingers, release the pressure, and the fingers grab the screw head. You can add your lock-tite and then start it in the hole with that tool. Fingers can be too big sometimes and that tools is a GOD send!
To prevent 'cross-threading' turn the screw counter-clockwise until you feel or hear the click of the thread alignment. Then rotate clockwise. No more cross-threading!
Thanks. It's nice to have you explain this slowly and easily. I set up my phone, played the vid and paused it when I needed to. I did not know to clean out holes. Put rail on new slug gun.

I think the idea of a 10mm lever action rifle is a very good one.
I would definitely have to buy a 10mm lever action
As we get a little older, help with our eye sight is a must. Good stuff. Just wish you would have said " BLUE LOCTIGHT: is the stuff. I know you showed the bkue BUT someone will still use the red---- oh my
Thank you for this tutorial, and especially for using a .41 Magnum.
Does the addition of the scope mount eliminate the use of the irons? Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the video. Just bought a bb carbine in 44mag that I’m super excited for
This is great. Very straight forward. I was wondering how to know what scope rings to buy? I have a leupold 1.5-4 freedom scope x 20 mm I want to mount on my henry HO10GAW rifle. Thank you.
I just bought to color case hardened 45-70. I still am in aw of this beautiful rifle
Is there any structure damage mounting this rail to the brass receiver? Or is there additional steps to take? I've got a Henry Big Boy .357 Magnum and I'll be adding either the scope rail or the fiber optic mount to it and just wanted to know before starting.
Can you still use the iron sights with that rail on the gun? If not, are there higher iron sights available - or a lower rail?
Will I be able to use both iron sights and the scope or are the iron sights pointless now. I went hunting with someone's rifle once and I was able to see under the scope for very close range firing, and that's what I want to to do with my henry
Thanks we just got a 357 and want to mount a small scope
Good video. A couple questions. First, is 14inch pounds the standard for steel big boys? Can you do one for a solid brass 45-70? Henry won't give a torque spec for attaching base to a solid brass receiver.
I've owned my Big Boy 44 (Bklyn NY, 1st Gen) since new. Going on 15 years I guess. Is there a 1st Gen cantilevered scope mounting video?
I picked up a fat wrench last fall. I use it all the time.
Useful tool of the trade!
I just bought the 44 big boy and the screws that came with the picatinny rail are .008 than the plug screws and feels like a different pitch
I bought a used one.. and it had a s ope mount. Looks similar to this.. but they mounted it on the barrel itself.. Not sure how i felt about the barrel being slightly drilled into but at least theyre tiny screws
Works great I so needed this
Can the iron sights still be viewed through with only the base mounted?
Need to use Ranger Point mounts ro see the irons.
As soon as he said "I guess" I was out😂😂
Good instructions, thanks for this.

What size are the screws that are on top of the receiver? They don’t seem to match what came with the weaver mount
Bought a set of Weaver rings that wiggle in the cross slots of the BB-RSM. Weaver says that their rings are not an exact fit for this base.
Should pull the lever and bolt to prevent any loctite from getting inside as these are thru holes.
the screwdriver that you used... where did you get it?? i've been trying to find a set that looks like that, my hand cant take the little tiny ones....
Looks like a wheeler fat wrench
What kind of screwdriver is that ? Torque screwdriver
Is Henry quality control going from good to bad? Just got a Big Boy and found one of the screw heads on the receiver was stripped partially, and the rear sight windage was off to the right a lot. This is new in box.
Справился.
Is the front portion of the scope touching the rear iron sight an issue? I have seen a video that showed it caused no issues whatsoever. Any word from the reps?
Not good, you should remove your rear sight.
Whats the torque for the screws on a 45-70
Henry won't say. Disappointing. All they said was hand tight. Perhaps they know there's a problem
On my Henry Big Boy (Brass Rec.) ,I had to shorten the screws because they would bind on the bolt.

I'm with you Mike a scope belongs on a bolt action rifle. Iron for everything else.
e-Legal and chevy thanks for letting me know I'm not alone. LOL
Mine has 4 holes drilled what mount should I use?
Thnx plinkster
Thanks. Low, medium, or high for the ring heights?
X2
How much is a Henry rifles I'm going to buy one I like to know how much money I got to spend
How to mount a scope on Henry Silver Eagle first generation not bored and taped
hey I was wondering why I didn't get any more videos on your Channel? So are you working for Henry exclusively?
Where can I find the top real mount for Henry 4570 Golden boy
I like the background music
This question will continue.
Is there a plan for a load gate on the large caliber Henry's?
Michael W. Don't hold your breath. Henry makes their rifles in the spirit and tradition of the original 1960 Henry, which was tube loaded.
I hope you meant 1860.
Well I know that I just want an answer. I guess I'll email them.
Also the original Load Tube was different.
They introduced a couple models with a side gate recently
@@haraldgeiger47yes my 4570 I just purchased came with the side loading gate.
What size screws are needed?
Could someone do the Cantilever Scope Mount?
I am mounting a Weaver fixed 4x on my 45-70 . the scope hits the rear sight . How do I remove the rear sight from the rifle ?
Exactly!
Did you ever get an answer!?
That's the one I bought for mine and it won't fit on my golden 44
Hey I’m just curious what model number is on this Scope mount? because I can’t find anything like it online.
If you still haven’t found the mount yet, go to henryrepearingarms.com and view “parts.” They list 5 or 6 mounts, including the Weaver, Picatinny, and a one-piece Talley - that I just mounted on my .44 BB.
My Henry big boy has a 4 bolt pattern seperet
2 mount plate with rings can't seem to find one
Why didn't Henry just go with the conventional four screw arrangement?
To make you buy the one they sell
Which DNZ mount would I use? What is the hole pattern?
Simply
for those wondering 14 inch pounds is the torque.
The screws on my big boy brass will not budge.
2:13 hoppeeeeeeeeeeeeees
Use rocksett not loctite. Loctite is temperature sensitive. Loctite shouldn't be used on firearms or anything that gets above room temperature.
22 Plinkster what good budget 3x9 40 scope do you recommend 100 yard maxx my eyes arnt what they used to be it will be mounted on my Big boy brass 44 mag thanks
Vortex makes decent scopes
need a pistol grip model Big boy

Why do these mount companies use slotted heads instead of torqe heads ??
STUPID !!!!!
To bad he doesn’t know what he’s doing.
S-scoped lever action?
Blasphemy.
When your eyes go bad you have no choice
