    That is absolutely crazy performance for a 3 cylinder 115bhp engine! 0-60 in 8 seconds. My old Audi A3 1.8t with 150hp did it in 8.2 seconds and I thought that was quick.

    In my opinion, 3 cylinders make all the right noises. Revving one out puts a smile on my face every time.

    • @sashbar

      SAEAT Leon and Ateca have artificial revving noise in Sport mode. It is just an audio signal. I wonder if it is the sane here.

    I don't understand the point of reviewing a budget car with its top end model. Costs are a key factor in this class.
    If you review the basic model that's gonna be helpful

      There is a contradiction in your saying.
      Budget cars don't offer trims with high-end equipment.
      Moreover there is nothing budget like in a car debuting technologies and novelties, not to mention that it comes first in its class in many aspects namely with its roomy cabin amd trunk, and leaving aside its looks.

      How can we decide if we want certrain options when they review the most barebone car? I get how you think but a reviewer with a fully loaded car could better say if certain options are worth it by testing them. I would agree to let them drive the strongest and weakest engine so they can advice if a engine is powerful enough.

    Having sold several millions across all generations since 1984, you would hardly call it the SEAT Ibiza a non-success.

      Matt was pretty harsh on this review and I don’t understand why. With every generation, the Ibiza was a way cooler car than the Polo, but somehow he seems to like that Polo so much, he is willing to bash the Ibiza. I think this is a gorgeous car and as of now, everybody seems to be on the same page given that it is Car Of the Year 2018. Good job Seat!

    I just drove 4.000 kilometers on my holiday with this Seat as a rental. I quite liked it. It's a nice, smart and fast enough car. Accelation is fine and I took it to 200km/h in Germany. Lots of sensors, parking assist and rear view camera for your safety. It all feels very good for a car in this price range. If I ever need to buy a car again, I would definitely consider this one.

    I disagree about the 3cyl noise; they sound raspy and have more character than 4cyls. My wife's 3cyl Mini Cooper is a riot.

    • @oddities-whatnot
      @oddities-whatnot 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matthew Hall Correct. Ive had a few 3 cylinder cars. As an example, a steep road a few miles from me, climbs up a long way and in a 1.33 yaris with 4 cylinders and 99bhp, it sounded like it would blow up when accelerating up it. Boomy and very noisy, and this car was less than a year old. Tried the same road last week in my current cheapo Suzuki Celerio, 3 cylinder and about 68bhp. What a difference ! Climbed with ease, up to 50mph in 3rd gear before changing up, the sound was so much better, more refined, with character. Did not sound strained at all, and thats the thing with 3 cylinders. Compare the Kia Picanto 3 cylinder and 4 cylinder engines and the 3 cylinder is much nicer to drive. Audi A1 1 litre tfsi engine is another good one, and I agree about your Mini, although im not keen on the car, I tested one and the 1.5 is a superb engine. Lot of car makers going over to 3 cylinders now, with turbos and so much better for it.

    Gotta love all the Spanish people here complaining about the way us Brits pronounce "Ibiza", Seat UK pronounce it that way which is why we do, search up Seat Ibiza UK TV advert if you want to hear it for yourself.
    We pronounce a lot of names differently just like other countries do, try pronouncing Jaguar. Vast majority of Spanish speaking people would pronounce it "Hag-war".
    Nothing wrong with pronouncing names differently, keep calm and carry on.

      Car mad I'm not really a vw guy, but I really like the new 3 door Polo gti and gdi. To me it looks like what a modern golf mk1 would be. Really don't like the new golf's, soooo fat.

    • @MrEngland92
      @MrEngland92 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Stephen Butler yeah me too but I'm liking the new LED head lights on the golf and the interior but other than that, they made the design look so ugly.

    • @StephenButlerOne
      @StephenButlerOne 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Car mad talking of LED head lights, I have a 2015 GTC, they wanted £100s of pounds for the led headlights and running lights, so I never ticked the option. Instead got the LED bulbs of EBay for a tenner in total. 2 mins to swap them out. No special inverters or the like needed.
      Never done the fog lights, but I don't use them. And they are harder to swap.

    I’m currently driving a 107 and love the 3 cylinder sound, much nicer sound that a harsh 4 cylinder that sounds thrashed/unrefined.. suppose that if you don’t want the 3 cylinder type you’d have to get the less efficient none turbo bigger engines

    Note that in the UK you can only get the 1.0 115ps engine in FR trim. I'm considering one of these for our next car, and as someone on the wrong side of 50 it would be nice to have the Xcellence and SE (technology) options.

    With this car, you HAVE TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT COLOUR. When I was buying my Ibiza, I looked at some they had at the lot, and some colours made the car look plastic and cheap. I personally like the grey colour mine is. In my opinion it makes the car look way better than the dark blue they offer. The other colours were a bit odd... Unless you like the off gold colour

    It's strange that they scrimped on the quality of the binnacle interactive display - this is full colour high-res on the Leon, but here it looks like a 1980s video game - a bit naff. Otherwise it looks like a really nice car and much better looking than the outgoing model - obviously much more in common with the Leon.

    0-62 mph in 8s for a 115 hp car OMG
    Then the 150 HP might do 60 in 6.2-6.5s, crazy, the Leon FR might do 60 in under 5.6s, making even the FR as fast as a Type R, thats nuts, fast

      Stephen Butler Do they not offer the 1.8 TSI any more in the Leon? I have a Leon SC FR with the 1.8 and it's a great engine, almost certainly underrated for power, easy to do sub 7 second 0-62 runs (timed a 6.6 on a GPS app). I almost went for the 1.4 TSI but the 1.8 is very different and certainly faster despite the similar outputs on paper.

      ***** not that I'm aware of, but they may??

    • @ApurtureSci
      @ApurtureSci 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stephen Butler I would definitely look into it, I test drove pretty much the whole engine range when I was buying mine and the 1.8 was the only one I wanted in the end. The 1.4 is decent but the 1.8 is more mature and noticeably faster. Actual output is between 190 and 200 HP going by the dyno results I've seen.

    Dunno how good the build quality or interior quality is given it's a Seat, but I have to say that the design itself inside and out is really rather excellent for that class of car! Those bold angular lines of the interior (especially the door handles) sorta remind me of the eighties, but in a good way :D
    Also, dunno what Mat is on about with the engine noise. To me that actually sounds better than the average four pots. Almost like a sporty six-cylinder engine. Though I guess that might be just because the audio might sound different in the video than it is in real life.
    Still, looks like a surprisingly likeable little car!

    I'm waiting for the next Skoda Fabia. If using the new platform makes such a difference even on an Ibiza, what will Skoda be doing with it...

    • @giorgospapaspyros4183
      @giorgospapaspyros4183 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Whenever the Skoda Fabia sits on the new platform,
      firstly the 'new platform' won't be that new any more (LOL)
      and secondly Skoda will not make more than SEAT out of it.
      SEAT has already made it up to its limits.
      The most exciting though is that you will need to ...wait 3 or more years at least,
      given that the current Fabia was launched in 2014 which makes it a 3 years old model.
      Supposedly you will want to punish yourself and go for the Fabia after the long waiting.

    ...So are the three cylinders to be avoided? What about diesel options? The 1.5 petrol may be the pick but is the economy much reduced?

    • @dannyfawcett8253
      @dannyfawcett8253 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rob Dundon I think the 1.5 will end up being just as good on fuel as the 1L in real life... as with the 1L it'll take more effort to keep up with traffic...
      I also know most new VW Tsi 4 cylinder engines can turn off 2 cylinders when at cruising speed to basically used half the fuel. Where as the 3 cylinder can't

    my friend has this car. In the city it makes 5.5 L/100km as a petrol. Hmm, I don't know if that is true or Volkswagen just subtracts 2 or 3 liters from the real number.
    Also the engine is not noisy at all if you drive normally, which 99% of people do.
