most people just buy names. As drab as the interior is in Leon it's honestly better than Audi A3 interior, which cost shitload more. If cars like this has soft dashboard people like this guy will complain it doesn't have leather. If it has hard plastic, they'll say it's cheap.
I have a 2.0 tdi 184ps leon and it’s the best car I’ve ever had. Currently one year in got it remapped to 215ps and now it keeps up with golf gti’s with no trouble. Great economy average 40mpg fantastic car highly recommended, had issues with electric windows but that’s about it

After I drove : new Megane, Auris, Golf 7, Peugeot 308, Leon and Focus I can say that Leon is far away the most sporty car in his class and fun to drive
You pay £35.000 maybe more for a audi or BMW and you don't even get L.E.D headlights as standard, my seat leon didn't cost nowhere near that much and I only had to pay a thousand pound more to get the L.E.D headlights that included extra's as well. What some audi owner's seem to forget is seat is in the same VW group, I have also noticed they have been building some audi's at the seat factory, it is all about badge snobbery.

There is a difference in quality for sure, but if you dont want to pay too much for the added comfort then seat is the perfect choice. If you really prefer comfort not too much wind and tire noise then wait and save some extra money and buy an audi.
I used to drive VW golf 13 in work but we switched to seat leon 18. Its a really nice car. Steering is excellent, quick and responsive. Good gear box. Easy to drive. Yes might be a bit bumpier then the older golf but it was kinda good u felt the road.
Matt, i think you'll find that the black gloss around the Nav is the same as before and you've ignored the centre console design change and the new electric handbrake that has replaced the old manual. More time needed studying the interior and less time on researching sausages i think.

He is trying too much to disparage the car's qualities, it is too obvious he is doing it in order to exalt the VW Golf. He even mocks some plastics found in the rear doors, when he knows the Golf's plastics in that particular area aren't that different.
I have the pre facelift model of this Seat and it is an amazing car. Drives so nice and is a lot cheaper than Golf or Audi, with lots of Spec included in the FR Trim
Aidan Kelly if you’re after a softer ‘all round’ ride, I would opt for the 17inch. I have those, and the ride is smooth and fairly soft, but can feel sporty as well. The downside is they look slightly less sporty from the outside. The 18 inchers look better but I’d imagine they’re a lot firmer and sportier. Best advice would be to test drive both, and see which one you prefer 🙂
We had Seat Leon FR tourers as company cars and to this day it's my favourite car ever. Beats any car I've driven before or since. And then 2.0 diesel is AMAZING on MPG. Not to mention that the seat has low emissions compared to cars like Honda Civic.
I’m actually driving one of these as a courtesy car due an idiot crashing into my corsa when I was parked with hazards on. The one I have is exactly the same as the Leon you just review except I have the DSG automatic gearbox and I have to say, it is an extremely good gearbox. Gear changes are smooth that you don’t even realise it’s changing gear. Though my only problem is the 7 gears, too many to track of with the paddles as it causes the car to rev far to soon.
I've been driving a 1.6 TDI for the last three years and loved it. I managed to get 600 miles out of a single tank on a few occasions before I stopped playing chicken with the fuel meter. I loved it so much I'm now waiting for my new Leon FR 1.4 EcoTSI to be built in 2 weeks time. You really cannot beat this car on value for money, style and just plain fun. Also I really quite like the door handles. Maybe it's just me?
High five for door handles! I don't do as much motorway driving these days so I'm really not benefitting all that much from the efficiency anymore (still does 400+ a tank though). The 1.4 is supposed to be a bit more efficient than the 1.8 as it can run on 2 cylinders when needed to save fuel. Honestly, I was also quite taken by a 50% increase in horsepower.
JaayB The 1.4 is good, over 40 mpg is realistic in everyday driving. I can't seem to beat 36 at the moment with the 1.8 (using premium fuel), but I suppose that's not too bad for the performance. Especially since it almost certainly puts out more horses than the 180 they claim.
I'm driving the 2015 Leon FR 2.0L TDI which is meant to have more HP than the TSI version but also ru s the devils fuel lol It may do but I feel it's heavier but the torque range in it is fantastic, just picks up and goes in any gear at relevant speeds. Getting 50 mpg average but does go down to 49 with some enthusiastic motorway driving using premium fuel. Also love the door handles both inside and out and they dont feel cheap. Best car out of the 3 Leons I've owned, only wish I had wireless charging for my phone and the bigger screen haha
Mr.J P Yes a bigger screen and wireless charger would be great. 50 mpg sounds very good for the power, I'm down to 34 average from my 1.8 TSI (climate control on all the time probably doesn't help). I don't mind, it's lots of fun to drive.
When I bought my current car I test drove the Leon with regular suspension (not the stiffer FR) and 16" rims as well as the Golf with regular suspension and 16" rims. The Leon is much more fun to drive. The Golf just took more time to react to steering input, and doesn't give much feedback. Yes, the ride is a bit harsher on the Leon, but it's a small difference. My Golf now sits on 17" rims, which worsened the ride, obviously, I'd say to Leon levels (or a bit worse), but help with handling. Now it reacts more direct. HOWEVER: It's still nowhere near as fun to drive as the Leon was. There's something about that steering. Oh yeah, and unlike the Leon with its light steering my Golf has the optional driving profile selection thing, which let me set the wheel to heavy, the way I prefer it. Still, the Leon was more fun to drive. I'd almost compare it to the 1 series BMW, though that manages to be comfy as well. Also that interior looks a bit like older Audis, and anyway, I think while not as exciting as the exterior it does look rather nice.
Others have said it already but I've never understood the "drab interior" complaint. I don't want it to be exciting, I want it to feel solid and plush with everything laid out logically. Which this is by the looks of it.
I hate the way they're trying to continually dull down the FR range power wise - First with the ibizas now the Leons. The ibiza used to be a 140bhp 2.0 cr now its a 1.6 105 bhp plant and they are now selling a 125 bhp 1.4 tsi leon as an fr wtf Seat fr used to stand for something quick
Actually the 1.4tsi on the leon FR is 150ps or 148bhp, I owned the pre-facelift Fr Tech version with that engine and it is very quick and much better than the mk2 1.6tdi leon, which we upgraded from in terms of speed acceleration performance, handling and looks imo, not as keen on the facelift as it looks a bit squarer and has new shape LED lights which dont suit the car as well. Pre facelift display surround was a metallic looking grey colour not the uber shiny piano black the new version has.
Fr did actually used to be faster. Like you would have two engine choices, petrol or diesel... Now they use the FR as a trim level, make a car look cooler then the normal but keep it slow for insurance and so on... makes money for seat Won't be long until you can put a cupra Trim level on a 1.0L Tsi Looks a the Ford Fiesta, the st was the fast one but now can get a normal fiesta with an ST trim... it's all shit

The ST version ( Station Wagon) has an armrest in the backseats. In the rest I am totally agree with the observations. Myself I am owner of a Seat Leon ST- FR 2016.
I would get the s7 which is way cheaper and still has a front fingerprint scanner which is not misplaced while still offering stellar performance and other hardware and software features

Good video as always. I drive the FR in that exact colour (albeit prefacelift and with the titanium pack and 2.0tdi 150hp). Love the car to bits but I agree my infotainment isn't the best. I'm surprised you didn't mention the different driver settings as Sport makes a noticeable difference to the throttle response and steering weight which makes driving so much better
I’m looking at getting the same now. Going to be a little different moving from a 1.2tsi, but need the diesel for travel. I’m assuming you may not have this anymore, but how was it? Just interested.
@@olliebt6761 nope no longer have it. Bought a GTD for 2 years and literally yday changed to a 3 series. Fr Leon diesel are still the best bang for buck car out there. Will easily get 50mpg on main roads about 500 mile to tank. Just watch out for the silica bag known heater matrix fault on them
Couldn't agree more with the road noise, having owned both my current car is a 2017 Leon 3dr, it's noisy at speed but the chassis is a absolute blast, very responsive and nimble

I had an accident and my courtesy car is 2017 2.0 RF automatic Leon. Most fun car i have ever driven. Comfort is not exacty as my BMW, but the fun factor is insane, i love driving it. the price is just ridiculously low for it

You could also review the ST model. More practical, with better visabilaty in the rear and an armret in the backseat. And I don't know why you reviewed model had total black interior. My new Leon have better looking gray trims as standard. I agree the 1.4 TSI is a wonderfull engine also with dsg.

I haven't watched the sub rate go up in a long time and they had almost 100k and then when i went to the channel banner for the first timw in a while they now has 270k sub! Very nice!

Hired this exact model (FR, 1.4) in Scotland and loved it - perfect for the twisty mountain roads, and hugs corners very well.

Glad to see that the 1.8 TSI is still offered, it's being phased out of most other VAG engine lineups.

The ST version ( Station Wagon) has an armrest in the backseats. In the rest I am totally agree with the observations. Myself I am owner of a Seat Leon ST- FR 2016.
Get the s8 plus, I just got it and I love it.

I would get the s7 which is way cheaper and still has a front fingerprint scanner which is not misplaced while still offering stellar performance and other hardware and software features

Good video as always. I drive the FR in that exact colour (albeit prefacelift and with the titanium pack and 2.0tdi 150hp). Love the car to bits but I agree my infotainment isn't the best. I'm surprised you didn't mention the different driver settings as Sport makes a noticeable difference to the throttle response and steering weight which makes driving so much better
I’m looking at getting the same now. Going to be a little different moving from a 1.2tsi, but need the diesel for travel. I’m assuming you may not have this anymore, but how was it? Just interested.
@@olliebt6761 nope no longer have it. Bought a GTD for 2 years and literally yday changed to a 3 series. Fr Leon diesel are still the best bang for buck car out there. Will easily get 50mpg on main roads about 500 mile to tank. Just watch out for the silica bag known heater matrix fault on them

Couldn't agree more with the road noise, having owned both my current car is a 2017 Leon 3dr, it's noisy at speed but the chassis is a absolute blast, very responsive and nimble

I had an accident and my courtesy car is 2017 2.0 RF automatic Leon. Most fun car i have ever driven. Comfort is not exacty as my BMW, but the fun factor is insane, i love driving it. the price is just ridiculously low for it

You could also review the ST model. More practical, with better visabilaty in the rear and an armret in the backseat. And I don't know why you reviewed model had total black interior. My new Leon have better looking gray trims as standard. I agree the 1.4 TSI is a wonderfull engine also with dsg.
