    I had a Skoda Fabia with that engine and gearbox for a few days as a courtesy car, and I was impressed. Plenty of power from that size of engine and liked the gearbox. Didn't notice that it didn't creep, but then I wasn't in much traffic. Genuinely not a bad car. Wouldn't mind owning one over a Fiesta as they seem to be so much better value.

    Thanks for another great video. I have a 2015 Golf with a DSG but have never experienced any deficiencies in its behaviour in traffic. The only problem is it can be slow to pick up at a junction but if I'm in a hurry I flick the gear lever into Sport and then it's fine.

    Great video very informative I have owned seat cars for the last 10 years and they have never let me down once imo they’re very reliable I’m currently considering a 18 plate Ibiza 1.5 FR EVO it’s got 150 bhp I think that engine would be more like a hot hatch! 👍🏻⭐️

    Your right about the Turbo/one litre engines - thay are pushed hard! I would prefer 1.5litre with Turbo to stand up to the strain over time.
    I would like also the Ford Puma - but as a 1.5litre Turbo (but most of these only 1 litre even as "crossover") unless perhaps you go for the 'ST' version!

    Good review as always.
    We had an FR 115 TSI DSG as a courtesy car for 2 weeks earlier this year.
    It was good on a country lane but on a long motorway journey the seats were flat, hard and frankly uncomfortable after a couple of hours.
    But the worst things about the car were that the engine was really coarse when driving it in a city such as London, also the DSG gearbox in normal mode just wanted to constantly change up at every opportunity, but if you put it into Sport mode it was trying to unnecessarily downshift all of the time!
    It looks good but we hated it and were glad to give it back!

    Great review as usual. Had an Ibiza 4 years from new in the early nineties just after VW took over. A 1.9D manual which was very reliable & economical but such a heavy lump at the front it handled like a blancmange. Good to see how much better they've become.

      I too had the 1995 1.9 D non turbo, but I found it to be great fun, and totally reliable, it was written off by my daughter, but after 127,000 miles and 7 years of great motoring it still had the same exhaust and battery from new, it was a sad day when it went to heaven.

    Hi Matt, really enjoyed your review. I am a close neighbour to AEG so know all the roads where you filmed this review. And amazingly I have been renting exactly the same model of SEAT for the past 14 months. My vehicle now has 67,000 km.I can confirm every positive and negative comment you have about this model, you are clearly well informed and the same problems are common to this vehicle. My negative experience - the DSG gearbox in my vehicle has developed minor problems changing between D2/D3 when driving in slow traffic. I expect the gearbox will fail in the not too distant future. I find driving the vehicle uncomfortable on long journeys, seats not great and my knee hits the door handle, I'm 179 cm so not that tall! Maybe it's me. I'm advised the rear seats are unbearable on long distance runs. This is a small car and feels very light, the metal is thin and easily dented, I had to exchange for a few days and had a 1.4 VW Polo auto which feels a much more substantial car. I'm not sure I would want to be be in this car in an accident! This is a fast car and can amaze other car drivers with its acceleration but I don't feel confident with the way it grips the road, I feel I have to really concentrate when cornering and at high speed. I've driven a lot of fast cars and this is the least safe I've felt in a car in many years.
    My positive experience - for a 1.0 litre 3 cylinder car this is an amazing performer but extracting 115 ps from a small engine must come with short life expectancy. The mpg is fantastic and 4.7 litres / 100km is easily achievable on a long run. The car is very presentable and looks great, it looks almost as good as an Audi A1 when parked side by side. So I think it's a great car to rent or lease short term but not a good car for long term ownership.

    • @HighPeakAutos
      @HighPeakAutos  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, small world! The gearboxes aren't very reliable if they're giving up at 67k.. I've had one fail on a Fabia VRS at 60k too unfortunately. Thanks for watching :)

      Car issues insurance companies specify in their terms and conditions that the DSG gearbox is NOT included in the warranty.
      Seriously, only a German "premium" brand could get away with what Audi-VW have gotten away for so many years with their DSG system.

    Such a realistic video. I had an Ibiza which was a great car. It had nothing major go wrong but just niggles. The window disappearing into the door is a common fault. On the other hand, the Fords have been 100 per cent. I would like to buy VAG products, but the question mark on reliability points me towards Japanese, Korean or Ford.

    • @smarte.r.1450
      @smarte.r.1450 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      High Peak Autos yes. It’s pretty much a 2018 Prius with a very modern angular styling queue bent towards the crossover style. However, the car is quite noisy when the combustion engine kicks in as the gearbox is a cvt only style. Hit the accelerator and car just gets louder not faster. 😞. It IS VERY comfortable and lane assist and brake assist features are rather good for motorway miles.
      We also have a 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E (phev) THIS is another level. 0-60 is reported under 6 secs but in actuality owner (I verify this also) being nearer sub 5 secs. They don’t advertise this as it would devalue the John Cooper Works variant as it’s not as quick. The Mini is the best car I’ve ever owned.
      Then there are a couple of Smart for twos we have for running around and my old channel.

    Nice review again, despite I like these kind of small cars, Although i have my doubts about stretching the performance specs to the max with those small engines.
    about 20 years ago I owned a 1.4L 45 Hp Volkswagen polo with over 400.000 km on it and a minimum of maintenance and service costs. not the fastest car i ever had, but it kept going, and even with a high mileage on, it there was a high demand for those cars. ( i sold it while waiting on a ferry )
    If you asked me to buy a over complicated downsized and used Seat Ibiza with 40 k on it, i would say no thanks. Taking depreciation and possible maintenance costs in account and the relatively small pricing difference between a new Ibiza with all warranties for 16.k euro or a used 2017 Ibiza for 10 k euro and 80.000 km on it and limited warranties, i would consider a brand new Ibiza instead

    Great review. Bought one of these a couple of weeks ago, an FR Sport DSG, and it has absolutely blown me away. Just as you said in the video it feels so much bigger than it actually is. The engine is punchy and the car really grips the road. It looks great inside and out, is comfortable, reasonably practical and refined. I love the tech and the digital cockpit etc. What’s not to love? Would disagree slightly on the DSG gearbox. I find it smooth even in town and mine has the creep function. Hello. This video has been really helpful, so thank you. I am 58 year old "lady of leisure" haha and need a car for local trips. I have been to the Seat dealers who are trying to sell me an automatic but I think I will choose the manual now. The dealers are trying to sell me a diesel car I've read that if you drive less than 15,000 miles a year should opt for a petrol? Is that true? I think I drive around 6,000.
    Any advice would be warmly welcomed. Also, may I add, you are certainly easy on the eye young man!

    I have a 6sp DSG in my Audi and it has the creep feature in traffic. It’s my first experience with a dual clutch but are they really unreliable ? I figured VW has been making them for years so by now they should have perfected them.

    • @HighPeakAutos
      @HighPeakAutos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah if it creeps, it sounds like a CVT. They're ok but you have to service them

    • @lash9400
      @lash9400 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      urbex2007 No it’s not a CVT it’s a 6sp DSG in a 2016 TT. Lift off the brake pedal and the car creeps forward and I haven’t noticed it being particularly jerky in traffic.

      @@HighPeakAutos I own a 2019 Seat Arona, which has the exact same power train from your Ibiza (1.0l TSI, 7-Speed DSG) and mine has the creep feature as well. As soon as I lift the brake, the car slowly starts creeping forward. You don't even have to lift the brake completely to see that it wants to move off. When you release the brake enough, you can see the idle rpm rise a bit as the car starts slipping the clutch to prepare for creeping forward before you let off the brake pedal completely.

    It seams that you are not familiar with dq200 7-speed gearboxes. They dont require regular maintenance. But, wet DSG-s do (e.g. dq250).

    • @HighPeakAutos
      @HighPeakAutos  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @madisjaagura
      @madisjaagura 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HighPeakAutos
      Yes, dry ones can be harmed easily with city driving. With careful driving, dq200 last 100-150k miles without repairs (clutch pack change). By careful, i mean not letting the clutches to slip too long in stop and go traffic.
      Wet DSG-s last 150-200k miles until repairs/problems if oil change is carried out every 40k miles.
      Btw, atleast in golf mk7 there is a creep mode for DSG, if automatic parking brake is turned off.
