*Probably one of my most used **MyBest.Tools** cordless tools. Plenty of power when used with the 5.0Am Lithium Ion Batteries. Awesome cordless circular saw. Would highly recommend!*
I can appreciate your efforts. A couple of helpful points to make Never beat shafts with a metal hammer use brass plastic or block of wood . Try to press in bearings and avoid "Tapping" them in Also those saws require gear oil to lubricate the bearings. Your was empty cause the seal failed at the spindle shaft. When you removed the blade you could see where it leaked out. Replace the seal and fill with 80/90 weight gear oil and itll run for many more years .
I used to work for Skil power tools. I have rebuilt many of these saws. Good job of cleaning and painting. This tool takes oil in gear box and it has oil seals which should have been replaced , but of course they have been obsolete for years.
What would you suggest as a substitute for the now obsolete oil seals? I'm considering a thorough strip down and cleaning of a 1950s Skilsaw 67, but have hesitated because of this issue. Thx
@@melotone3305 , If you have a parts diagram with part numbers ,there may be a possibility of checking part number on line through ebay . Skil most likely did not manufacture the seals or ball bearings but got them through a bearing manufacture. There may be part number on the seals that could help through bearing manufacturer but you would have to disassemble tool. A gem of a tool from years gone by. I will keep you in mind if i run across any info.
Great old 1940's/1950's early Skillsaw, Looks very well made and with that worm gearbox the blade will run at a slow speed but have plenty of cutting power, That is a quality tool as they don't make tools like this any more sadly. Well done for restoring it and bringing it back to life, this is a very nice saw and very useful too. Please always use a block of wood to protect the nice new paintwork when assembling the parts together - This will save you from marking the new paintwork and having to touch it up again 👍👍
@Peter Evans ...But the new ones are very high wattage and heavy on electricity and they don't have a worm drive gearbox that doubles the motor's torque ! and puts out a very useful slow speed which would work very well with the right saw blade for cutting metal and stone...
@@bodeine454 Only those small angle grinder like saws... Most of the new handheld circular saws have the motor to one side driving the saw blade via splined motor shaft and a gear wheel that is much bigger than the motor's splined drive shaft to reduce motor rpm and add more torque to the output shaft what the saw blade is mounted on...
Kudos to the restorers of these tools. Most ppl have a certain knowledge and can take apart stuff. However, there's a certain knowledge of putting yourself in the builder's shoes that made the thing you're restoring To be able to think "well, a human put this together", I should be able to figure it out Also and maybe more importantly is the knowledge and memory to put things back together correctly That's an art in itself and for most isn't just an easy task
Very good job, but I recommend you change the bearings, no matter how good they seem, it is preferable to spend a little more money than after so much work one gets stuck. Finally, one day they will explain what that "magic" white liquid is that cleans all the parts and leaves them perfect ?????
Wow. Where do I start? I would have brushed all the loose stuff off before disassembling. As bad as that saw looked inside, I would have opted for some new bearings. How about some lube on all those moving parts during reassembly?
Two suggestions. The metal ball bearings beat with the plastic hammer or the wooden mallet. The blade is very old; never reuse it, the teeth could break, to put new!
would be great if for your next project you soak the entire project in a tub of rust-remover and let it sit overnight before starting any restoration. could you try that? thanks :)
in every restoration video they remove nuts and bolts so easyly on rusted stuff meanwile i have to sell my sould to the devil even if im atheist to be able to remove a bolt from a 1 week old machines
He does a good job but half of the "restoration videos on TH-cam are someone rusting something on purpose. I would rather see rebuilding older or broken tools.

I have the exact same skilsaw as that one lol
Try using a scrap peace of wood between your hammer and the metal. It will prevent denting and scratching it

What did you use to "antique" the surface? Because that is not an old saw.
exactly. i was suspicious from the get go especially how easy it came apart and the condition of the brushes
that saw is probably 50 years old
yes with the climate in Nam, this saw should be rust rotten

The power cord is way undersized. Otherwise, except for using the old bearings, good job!
might need to restore that backyard first before jumping to the circular saw.
Nice
Awful close to you're foot but nice job. Safety second I guess
very well done it was a pleasure to watch

fantastic job very well done content good see you in the next video
I've sprayed many things with vinegar water to make them look old and Rusty and I can tell by the blade so does he.
wow, what a smart dude. Putting it back together would be hard. Nice job!!
✌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

I had one. and when the brass gears go. that's it for the machine. The Makita has a different system. Good restoration anyway.
