I am arriving three years after this was posted. I bought a Lithgow LA101 in .22lr, Titanium Ceracote with walnut stock, six years ago. I use it to compete in my local Benchrest competition in "hunter class". We shoot alongside the "target class" with their fancy rifles that cost 7 to 10 times the price of the Lithgow. Not only do I come home with a medal every time except the first day I competed and a day last year when I was unwell, most of my medals are gold. All bar three of the others are silver and those three are bronze. On several occasions, I have outscored the fancy "target" rifles. I currently use a ZeroTech Thrive HD scope. Brilliant setup and it makes me look good.

Picked up one of these. First 500 cci standard. Once zeroed 9 and ten rings all afternoon on olympic targets at 50. Its a really good rifle

Good review, I agree with everything you said. Mine loves of all things GECO ammo in the red box.

Brilliant Matt. Great review love the way you presented it. I have a LA 101 with the synthetic stock and grey silver barrel and I love it, took a few hundred rounds to get it bedded in but now it’s lights out accurate. I use Eley black box or SK match, half inch easy at 50 yards. I have looked at CZ and Tikka but I am not going to beat this one, so going to save the money and get a better scope. Looking forward to the accuracy review. Good stuff 🇬🇧

Ive found my 101 loves federal and fiocchi . Anything waxy it loves it seems. Stock 5 shot mag is great . The cz 10 shot mag needs a fair bit of wearing in with the 9th and 10th shot. Spring is tough. Have gotten stuck a few times. But proud of aussie built la 101 and love hearing from others its a lazer and validates my choice.

I bought my LA101 in 2018. I had some trouble with the standard 5 round magazine but that was easily fixed by following the published "fix" that Lithgow put out. I have two CZ 10 round magazines and have never had any issues. My rifle loves Lapua Midas +, Eley Match and SK Rifle Match. CCI Standard also does well. It does not like the Federal, Winchester, Norma, or Fiocchi.

I've been on the fence between one of these or a t1x.... but think ill have to go with the la101, struggling to find anything other than synthetic stock in the left-handed models.. gonna match it with a zerotech scope to keep the aussie made theme going. Thanks for the review!

    I have also had a CZ452, a Brno,
and a Vohrenbach. This Lithgow beats them all!

Thanks for your insight into the Lithgow 101.
Just wondering if you could help me decide between that particular rifle and a Weihrauch HW66.
I intend getting a Lithgow 102 in 6.5 Creedmoor and thought a .22 in the same configuration would be handy as a trainer for the 6.5 to develop good technique but am torn between the 101 and the HW66. I know you have both and would appreciate your thoughts between the two. Cheers

Great review mate, I have a laminate one, freaken awesome rifle, tried plenty of different ammo, came across Eley std bulk box went through a few 500rd boxes of them, awesome results, went tried SK rifle match for a brick, ok for a little while, SK pistol were same same, gone back to Eley std bulk pack and I'm seeing amazing results again, doesn't really like much HV ammo, although Highland HV hollow points were good thought her. Got a 223 signature on order :)

They are so well made. They are a "Forever" investment..
I just had mine pillar bedded and trigger lightened. Made a good amount of difference for the money.

@@ozcountryliving4751 Thanks for the information. I was just going to ask you about how you'd been doing with the rifle since the review five months ago. Since it's a good rifle, I'll get one. Thanks again.

mind you, those cheap rifles, like Stirling, Norinco, Bruno copy eg puma they are called now, with match ammo shoot as accurate.
the old Lithgow's shoot great too, old bsa sportsman 5s, long barrels shoot inconsistent ammo more consistent than a short barrel.
not many people can fork out a grand or more to shoot.
if you have the cash, its a life time rifle for sure.
but the price of ammo alone is way way too dear., in 2024.
