  • Just a quick little video with the GoPro to see if I can nail a fox after sighting in the little Lithgow. GoPro, Crocs, camo, the T2 and a rifle I was good to go. Time to blood the little Aussie Icon.
    THIS IS A HUNTING VIDEO. VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED.

    :) I had to replay that bit of video three times before I could see that fox in the grass, and only then when the Lithgow bit him.
    Good video, thanks!

      Cheers Matt. I had the bare minimum with me so the footage isn't fantastic but it got the job done. I could hardly find the fox in the long grass myself let alone pick it up with the GoPro. Thanks again for your support.

      Thanks mate. I actually called another one in about 300mtrs up the gully but never had the camera with me. My Uncle had a Lithgow .22lr that us kids got to shoot almost 50years ago. It to functioned flawlessly and was well and truly accurate enough for us.

    And that is where the magnum rimfires really shine. Quite a few foxes have met their fate to my 17HMR in the same sort of way.👍😎

    • @BoltActionProductions
      @BoltActionProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a love hate relationship with the 17HMR. I've lost too many foxes to it if the shots aren't perfect. This is one of the reasons I am giving the .22WMR another go after not owning one for over 20yrs. Time will tell which I prefer.

      Hi pal... I'm a big 17 hmr fan to. Shot placement is important but with a good 200 ft/lb on tap they still hit hard and shoot pretty flat out to 150 meters.
      Longest fox I've shot with one was 135 meters (148 yards) off trigger sticks; engine room shot and it dropped on the spot.
      Very versatile and not too noisy either, a sharp 'crack' rather than the bloody thunderbolt that goes off when I use the 243. 👍

      @@BoltActionProductions I will agree with that totally, I got the 17 out of curiosity mostly having had the magnums in the passed. With the WA laws I'm kind of stuck with it because I can't be bothered with the hoops again.

      The Lithgow .22 looks like a nice plinker, would you say better than a CZ but not as good as a Anschutz ?

    • @BoltActionProductions
      @BoltActionProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Anschutz? Last one I had myself was a model 520 semi-auto .22lr that had to be handed in. Loved that rifle. I've seen both good and bad Anschutz with some having virtually a stained piece of MDF for their stock. In general they are a good rifle but the little LA101's overall build quality I would say is better than the average Anschutz.

      @@BoltActionProductions I am proud that our country is producing good quality rifles, I was considering a .22 Tikka but now I’m going to head to Cleavers at Redcliffe and ask if I can have a look at the Lithgows 👍 their flagship .308 looks pretty damn impressive as well..

    My cats lost their shit to those calls, had to cut the volume and wait for them to settle.. PS we live on the land and our cats are well fed but the two working together have taken down 4 fox pups in the last few months, and bring them home for us to step over at the back door.

    • @BoltActionProductions
      @BoltActionProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cats and in particular feral cats are certainly a dominant killer. There has been times where we have whistled in both feral cats and foxes at the same time and when they both lock eyes on each other the fox always hold back to see what the cat does first.

      G'day Trent. In this rifle I'm running a few different loads that shoot quite accurately. The Remington 33gr and Federal 50gr give the little Lithgow WMR some versatility. If you are after any more information on what ammunition shot the best out of this rifle there is a video I have done on that exact subject here. th-cam.com/video/21qzDbcI3IA/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching👍👍

      You'll just have to see what shoots best out of your rifle as they all vary. If I was to start off with any it would probably be the Hornady or the Remington that I mention in that video. Good luck and keep me posted on how you get on with the new rifle.

      I will be trying out a bit of Night Vision gear on this rifle and I have just finished machining up a quick release mount for the Pard NV008. For ammo testing I have put a Vixen 4-16x44 in quick release mounts which is very good for the price.
