    both my uncle and I have LA 101 in 22lr they will both shoot one hole groups with ELEY Match, as for the trigger all you can do is replace the trigger spring with a 1.5 pound spring but with mine i have drilled a hole through the body of the trigger block and tapped a tread in and fitted a little grub screw which makes it adjustable to remove the creep and to adjust the sear engagement which makes it a very fine trigger to use now, wish i had some way of sending photo's of our groups and my trigger modification, love your posts , from Dave in Australia.

    I just sent the link to my mate Rob in Qld who has a 101.....I had to laugh when you said you need a better trigger...I keep telling him the same thing. We have a fun and friendly little comp going between us...his Lithgow 101 v my Anschutz 1710. Keep up the great work. Look forward to your video's. Tony Melbourne Australia

    You can get a trigger spring set to bring the weight back to 1.5 lbs. It is easy to swap out the factory springs and improve the trigger.

    It takes a lot of time to get the trigger right on the lithgow but it is well worth the aggravation. Thanks for all the great videos if I can help in anyway let me know.

    Yeah, my LA101 LOVES Eley Match, the Eley HV is also amazing. Everything else is trash. I've noticed my groups tighten up as the barrel warms up. Have installed a lighter trigger spring and it's incredible from the bench. 15min DIY job.

    I love my Lithgow WMR, super accurate, I did the trigger springs, and it's better, but like James says it's probably not match ready. I like it because it's my varmint gun, single stage no creep, clean break. Perfect. Ultra light accurate gun. Worth every penny.

    I recommend getting a trigger job , mine came standard at around 3lb , you can get a lighter spring but that really didn’t make much difference, now that my trigger is under a 1 lb it shoots eley team at around .2 Moa @50 meters.

    You had the same results with Tenex I have had with several lots and quite frankly it's a big let down for the price they charge for it. As for the trigger, most good quality .22 triggers can be resprung and polished. I have replaced the springs and polished the sears in my Walthers and Anschutz and the Kimber and have been able to get the triggers all in the single digit ounce let off with zero creep. In my Bergara i have a triggertech diamond at around 3 oz. If the triggers ain't light they ain't right.

    It may not compare to the high end rifles you test fire, but how about an accuracy test of the Ruger Precision Rifle. It happens to be a rifle many of us shoot, who cannot afford the others. If you have done one, where can I find it. I have one and it pretty much shoots everything I put through it...maybe I got lucky.

    Oorah!! Interesting. Eley Match is Tenex that didn't make the grade or rather failed the Tenex Quality assurance check.

  • @Jeff-mv4yy
    @Jeff-mv4yy ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I watch a lot of online videos with people shooting Tenex. It rarely shoots better than Match. The only guy I've seen shoot it well is Kenny at Eagle Eye, but he builds his chambers for Tenex. Great series . I look forward to the rest. BTW, those trees were moving a lot in the background. My amature eyes say wind was 15mph...

    • @PursuitofAccuracy
      @PursuitofAccuracy ปีที่แล้ว

      Eley tenex, match, and team are all the same ammo. Its tested and graded as a lot by accuracy, chamber pressure consistency, and mv consistency.
      The best is now tenex, the 2nd best match, 3rd is team.
      However just because its tenex doesnt mean your rifle will shoot it better than match etc.
      Ideally youd pick which fits your budget and lot test that.

    • @Jeff-mv4yy
      @Jeff-mv4yy ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PursuitofAccuracy That is exactly what makes it confusing to me, Josh. I very rarely have seen an ammo comparison where Tenex shot better than Match. It would seem like the Tenex would show better results on the whole just due to the superior consistency.

    • @PursuitofAccuracy
      @PursuitofAccuracy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Jeff-mv4yy if you test enough you start seeing the averages.
      I consistently have tenex out performing the others at distance but at 50 its a toss up.
      I dont shoot bench rest so i also dont get wrapped up around the groups at 50. Consistency in elevation at 200+ yards is way more important to me.

    • @EagleEyeShooting
      @EagleEyeShooting ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Josh shares great insight here as well as his channel. 50 yds as he stated can be a toss up. As example, the last video on the CZ457 Notchless barrel I did with SK out shot tenex at 50 yards but fell apart at 100. Tenex held near 1/2 inch.

    Nice video man! Lining/fouling the barrel with the wax of the bullets makes a big difference. That is most likely why your last tenex group was the best and alll the Match groups started off tight. I used to think it was a myth but I'm starting to see its for real. With wax bullets at-least. I've never bought the pricey Eley as cheaper options can still perform just as good, only ever will if I get into competing. That being said at some point id love to see how they fare at 100 yards!

    • @Dayattherange
      @Dayattherange  ปีที่แล้ว

      Killshot it absolutely makes a big difference, the last 3 times out on the range this rifle has seen nothing but Eley which is why I did not foul the bore.

    My Lithgow LA101 prefers Lapua Midas+, Eley Match, SK Rifle Match, and CCI Standard is almost as good. I currently use SK Rifle Match and if I do my part, I have been known to outscore the fancy target rifles. The Lithgows tend to have their own individual preferences in ammo.

    One small point to make,your shooting disipline has changed to being almost rapid fire a far change from the 22 rules you used to follow 18 months ago. Would like to see you go back to that controlled shooting and see if your fliers are reduced. Meantime keep up the good work. Cheers

  • @lazybear236

    Since Tenex is the same as Match except for the fact that it performed better with the barrels that Eley used to test them, it's not really clear to me they are much better except in some general statistical sense. But in any particular gun, lot testing is more important than ammo grade in similar tiers (plus or minus one).

    Those Tenex groups look like groups I get while seasoning in my barrel between ammo changes. What ammo did you shoot before the Eley Tenex? Did you season the barrel between changes?

    • @Dayattherange
      @Dayattherange  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No sir the last 3 outings has been NOTHING but Eley which is why I didn't season/foul the barrel.

    I tried Eley match and my LA101 shot okay but by far SK pistol match is the most consistent. Get the lighter trigger spring done ‘ it’s much better. My theory with flyers is that anything less than a perfectly parallel bullet pressed into the brass causes the bullet to fly ever so slightly off course , not sure how we can check this without placing each round in a lathe and using a dial gauge to check any out concentric bullets. Come on, how are you gonna fault point of impact using better ammo when you cited it in with poorer ammo… Seriously… If you would’ve cited it in using the best grouping ammo and highest quality ammo, the poorer stuff would’ve been off of your point of aim not the other way around.
