    Hi
    Just brought my first LA102 here in the uk and i have to say the piccaninny rail to me is worth so much , i have owned the Sako 85 for years and with all the new scopes that you can get today ie the 36 and 40mm tubes and the Pulsar Thermion which have a short eye relief i have struggled to mount these for over 2 years now !! and spent a fortune on spuhr and innomount with the only option was to have a contessa rail as well
    Bought this gun and every optic that i own fit with very little effort with no additional add on rails or reach back mounts for the Pulsar !!
    I should have done this years ago and would have saved myself over £1300 in mounting on my Sako
    Thank you Lithgow

    I just learnt and I'm 45 that Australia has a small arms capabilitie because I think it should be expected that if war breaks out and I prey it does not but in WW1,WW2 we got guns from England and such and you need a homemade industry and if war happens the ability to go from a small capacity like this place to war like capacity like 20 of these facilities or more. We should be making bigger arms like 105 howitzer and rockets and all kinds because Australia has got talent and we don't manufacturer anything anymore and we need to invest in a arms selling industry that is as good as any other country. There is a lot of money to be made but the skilled needed when China and America go to war is something we will have to devilop,I hope the political and military actually have plans in case production is needed in a war time. I hope they have a contingency plan that when it breaks out we have a way to go from well there are no car factories but I mean turning factories into arms manufacturing capabilities if war breaks out and my god I hope it doesn't because we will loose.

      I’m sad to say there’s no plan , no strategy & honestly it looks like our labor & liberal governments since 1973 have purposely disarmed us & sabotaged any hope of a real fight .
      The police & state governments have heavily contributed to the disarmament process & along with the media & education system.
      Thales has only been manufacturing rifles in Lithgow for 20 or so years ! They are a privately owned French company & there soul purpose is profit . Our whole commonwealth owned defence industry was sold to ADI then on sold once or twice more .
      People have gotta start conversations & raising our voices about our hopeless defence strategy or lack of .
      If we wait for a war to breakout it’s to late .
      We need to be prepared ahead of time .
      One only needs to look at the near peer vs peer WAR in Ukraine right now ! Australia’s professional defence force will be annihilated
      Within weeks . I don’t even think we have enough ammunition for a week of intense battle. Ukraine is firing upwards of 2000+ rounds of artillery shells a day .
      We simply don’t stand a chance , thanks to the labor & liberal governments , police & military top brass & labor & liberal voters who hate Australia.
      It has to be the plan , it’s more important that ndis recipients get to have fully funded lives including taxpayers funded sex as just one example of the highest priorities . Far more important then the defence of the whole nation.
      It’s a sad disgusting joke what Australia has become!
      I’m trying to encourage a national service & a volunteer civilian service . Nobody seems to care ! I’m gutted !

    I have a LA105 in 6,5CM , after approximately 500rounds I had a few issues, the action front bedding screw came loose and only had 3 threads purchasing into the action. The rear bedding screw goes into a dovetailed nut in the rear action tang, this was also loose allowing the action to move side to side whilst firing causing split groups. As I am a fitter machinist I have the skillset to remedy this, but why isn't it built better in the first place! Also the locking lugs had to be deburred and trued! Shoots fine now. 10mm groups with reloads.

The lithgows are a little on the heavy side but feel the weight is synonymous with quality. I'm super proud to own an Australian made rifle and am looking forward to filling my safes with Australian made quality firearms. Side note I was literally mouthing the words light weight hunting rifle when you were in the gun room doing interviews. Can only hope there is a good array of calibres available when they bring them out. I'll be putting my hard earned to one asap.

    Remanufactured Lithgow no1 mk3 & or mk3* rifles would sell more then any of these modern rifles .
    Parts kits for existing rifles & accessories are another avenue.
    Hunting & patrol type rifles or any modular configuration is possible on that platform.
    Wrist adapter for AR buffer tubes / stocks & pistol grips .
    The sky’s the limit with options to the forend . Dream it build it .
    The Indian ishapore no1 mk3* rifles were made with a better steel & heat treatment ( back in the 1960’s ) & chambered in 7.62 nato .
    As if stronger one’s couldn’t be made today & chambered in 223 , 6.5 creedmoor, 308 or some of the short magnums .
    With mim & investment casting techniques, polymer stocks , laminated & carbon fibre stocks there’s a rifle for almost everyone.
    The ELR market is relatively small
    A no1 mk6 1/1 is just about perfect for most hunting scenarios, it crosses over the Jungle Carbine , patrol rifle , hunting rifle, service match rifle roll perfectly. Rear mounted flip up peep sight , charger / stripper clip fed , 10 rnd mag , red dot or forward mounted scout
    scope . Or over the action scope if preferred.
    Just my opinion. Probably everyone I know would buy at least one !

    I have 2 Lithgow rifles and there might well be a third some day .. BUT .. it never ceases to amaze me how secretive Lithgow are .. they have been saying the same thing about 'new' calibers for more than 5 years. In this video they display an adjustable stock on the wall behind them, but will not answer emails or facebook queries from those of us who would like to get one. They face constant criticism about their substandard magazines (both capacity and quality) and us mug punters are left to wonder how much BETTER the Lithgow experience could be if they came to the realisation that there is A LOT OF ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT ..! (that is the sound of my dummy being spat ..!)

    • @TheLongGunProject
      @TheLongGunProject  ปีที่แล้ว

      Since making this video back in 2019 I have to agree that the greatest criticism of Lithgow arms that I’ve heard is the lack of responsiveness to customer needs and demands for new products. The Lithgow experience could be so much better as you rightly point out, but when these changes come will be anyone’s guess.

    Now if only the bullet manufactures went to this level of detail and accuracy down to 0.06 micron, which is diamond machining specs. I was privileged enough to sell aerospace / aircraft alloys and i can say when you get down this grade of manufacturing its almost aircraft manufacturing grades and engineering, the only aspect is certification in aircraft manufacturing and maintenance and military product manufacturing you required to have 3 separate qualified products specific engineers to sign off on the various jobs as they move down the production line? Which is for certification and traceability should anything go wrong?

      Ricky I recommend emailing Lithgow Small Arms via their website so they can look up the serial number and give you the correct history of your rifle. Thanks for watching the video 👍🏼

    I'm in the process of getting my license (in the N.T.) and join my camel hunting friends.
    But what calibre? .223 6.5 or 308 ?
    Choices choices.

    • @TheLongGunProject
      @TheLongGunProject  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are shooting camels I’d be looking for a 308 at a minimum and probably use heavy projectiles. Shot placement will be critical given the size and structure of a camel. The good news is that with a Lithgow you’ll be able to be VERY precise with your shot placement! Hope your camel shooting goes well! Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the other videos on the channel👍🏼

    Where can I buy that stock at 1:20 ?!?!?

    • @TheLongGunProject
      @TheLongGunProject  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Snappy that stock is made right there in the Lithgow Arms factory. I begged them to start fitting them to rifles but they probably need more public demand to feel confident to do that. If I were you I’d email Lithgow Arms and ask them to make them available to the public 👍🏼 the more of us that do that the sooner we will see them on shelves

      @@TheLongGunProject Ahh! I thought it was a Boyds stock at first but they don't make stocks for Lithgow (for some weird reason) We should start a petition!! 10/10 would buy for my 102, It looks beast!

    • @TheLongGunProject
      @TheLongGunProject  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have a suspicion that magnum caliber Lithgow will have a bigger action and a different designation. If we all ask Lithgow to build a magnum caliber LR rifle then they will probably give us what we want when they see the market demand is there. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the other videos on the channel 👍🏼

      Bor Nodnoc that was a bit of a throw away line but he did say some interesting things after that; and dropped a lot of hints at what they are working on. Lithgow Arms as a commercial entity are clearly cautious about what they say in the public domain. That being said I really hope you enjoyed the rest of the video and that you enjoy the other videos on the channel 👍 that is for watching!

    Thumbs down. I wanted to have a tour of the factory but was driven away by the BLASTED music you inflicted on us. Is this a gun channel or a teenagers bedroom? WHY are we assaulted with music almost everywhere we go these days. Your content would have been great I'm sure, I am capable of paying attention without the need for annoying ambient sound.

      G’day Kevin, sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy the music in the video. The music was a more preferable alternative to the factory background noise which drown out all voice audio (which I had to voice over later). I appreciate your feedback and I’ll keep it in mind for future videos. I hope you enjoy the other videos on the channel.
