    So let me get this straight, the same guy who wears the Trump hat goes to England to buy and AMERICAN tractor and ship it back to America and claims he's a patriot? Sad Wes

      The're German built anyway, much higher spec than the US ones.

      @shabo857 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well shit. I wasn't aware. Thanks for the info. Yea I guess you're left with no choice. Kinda sad that Deere doesnt make the same product here in the states. Anyone know why? Just find it ironic that he wears a America first right wing hat but buys overseas.

      shabo857 do your homework Sally the tractors are American the 8530 was built right here in the USA 🇺🇸 the 7530 was made here also it was assembled in Germany and the America First hat is appropriate in this application also. Your just a little whiny crybaby looking to put people down.

      shabo857 osha will not let them to much red tape and would make it cost prohibitive. So not to piss costumers off , they don't offer some options state-side.

  • @richardgreen6578
    @richardgreen6578 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Taping the exhaust might be a old wife's tail now, but I use to haul new machinery years ago and the factory checked that we did it before we left. I always thought it was just to keep water and dirt from getting in the engine. not so much spinning the turbo.

    • @brandoncaldwell95
      @brandoncaldwell95 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Happens on some. I was on a farm with a 2008 model JD, dont know the size, but it was pushing either 55 or 65hp. He hauling it from San Antonio 100 miles back to the farm. Ran it till it got dark putting hay away. Walked into the house face covered in oil splatter. Looked on the tractor next morning to find it covered in oil mist. Called the dealer to ask about it. First question was "Cover the exhaust?" Sure didnt, and the oil built up. Blew it right out the exhaust when fired up. Didnt realise having balanced 2 bales on it and trying to avoid the fences. Ever since then, its always hauled with the exhaust covered in a can. Even do it to my little tractor to prevent oil or damage. Either to simply do it then be aurprised with random oil or turbo gone bad.

  • @charlesortego4127
    @charlesortego4127 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    no way the wind is going to get into the exhaust and spin the turbo. Where does the air go from there? Let's see in the exhaust pipe, spin the turbo, through the exhaust valves, pistons, intake valves, turbo, air filter. Really Wes with your knowledge.

    Never in my life have I heard that turbo wifes tale about transporting stuff. Never have I experienced any issue either. Utter bull. Just carry on.
    Over hear those two would probably have been moved with 4 straps. For some reason dealers are funny about strapping tractors here. I was told it's to do with chains damaging paint. I would've done it just how you have.

  • @Dethleph
    @Dethleph 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I really don't have a clue how look it took you to come home, but even if it was only half an hour it seems wasteful to "leaf the tractors running".
    I never heard of taping the exhausts tho. The only way i can imagine to spool the turbo is by pumping air through them, but there is no where to go on the other side of that turbo.
    I would have shut those tractors off for sure!

    • @norman7179
      @norman7179 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tractor on the rear of the truck had a dead battery at the port and had to be jump started, so it's easy to see why IT needed to be left running. Not sure about the other one but no big deal. I've seen running equipment many times if it's a short haul.

    When I was out west working on a harvesr crew, we were hauling around brand new 8320R's with 1300 bushel grain carts on a 53' spread axle dropdeck. One year the boss told me to go south and load 2 '14 8310R's onto a single dropdeck. That was a heavy load. got pulled by a 377 with a c12 cat with a 13 speed and no jake brakes... by no means legal at all, lol.

    • @chevyv1281
      @chevyv1281 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      what even is a jake brake?

    • @payne2086
      @payne2086 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jake brake
      noun
      an engine brake for truck diesel engines that cuts off fuel flow and interrupts the transfer of mechanical energy to the drive mechanism.
      Sorry if I sound like a smart ass, but the dictionary definition explains it better than I could.

    • @gubb73485
      @gubb73485 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Chevy V12 its like when you take your foot off the gas in a car and its starts to slow down but much more extreme. It also helps the breaks not ware out from constant presser

    • @Descorath
      @Descorath 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Chevy V12 , don't know if you know how engines work, but jake brake works by opening the exhaust valve after the compression cycle. So the engine compresses the air (no fuel as you are idling), it then gets released so the energy is lost. Then normal for the next stage.
      Its just so the energy of compressing the air is used to slow the engine down. Its quite a cool technology.
      Also noisy as hell on earlier versions of the "jake brake" as it released the gas straight out into the air, not through the exhaust.

    A380 and A340 both Airbus do have 4 Engines besides from the Antonov 124 and 225 Mira. But you saw there an A340-600 landing over your head. And the Mira is actually 6 engines. That plain is so big you can drive your 2 tractors side by side thru without even hitting or changing a thing on the plane which can hold 2 full blow locomotives without a problem or 6 battle tanks no problem.

    did you buy 2 new tractors? in regards to the shape the rental trailer was in, are you not like Canada, were anything from a 1 ton truck to a trailer you put behind say my 5 ton including hyw transport trailers and as a U-Haul dealer all trucks and trailer must have an MTO SAFTY ONE A YEAR if you don't get it safety before the expiry date on the 3"x3" yellow MTO STICKER ON THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW , you can not take it on the road, you have to get it towed to a shop that do MTO SAFTYS, TRAILERS HAVE TO GO ON A LOW BED TRAILER YOU CANT TOW THM ETHER, EVERY YEAR TO GET MY FARM PLATED 5 TON WITH A 7 YARD DUMP BOX AND A HYDRO BOOM ON IT, COST NE 6 TO 700.00 A YEAR JUST FOR THE SAFTY that not including if anything needs fixing, I do the repairs my self, before I changed over to farm plates I had it plated commercially for 33,000 LBS or 15,000 kg, and the plates for 6 months were 580.00 $ cnd, now farm plates are 230.00 for the year, big savings, but still need the safety and the CVOR THAT USE TO BE FREE now they charge you 50$ a year for the trucks CVOR

Reason I ask is i am in the sticks of maryland and farmers around here are dirt poor compared to your farming business. A few farmers i am close with sell hay, soy beans, cows, and corn.. They would love to have as many tractors as you- forget the quantity just purchasing tractors like these in the video. Seems the farmers i speak of have all "junk" for equipments so to speak. I am just trying to understand the pay difference in jersey compared the md. Thanks Wes

    Hmmm I have an idea. Instead of giving what ifs, let's try something. Take a leaf blower and blow it across the exhaust and let's see a video of the turbo spinning. I don't think it has enough volume to overcome the system. For air to go in and make the turbo spin would take a lot of volume. Maybe with a straight pipe, but im doubtful. With muffler, it would have to be a direct blast into the exhaust just like when the engine runs. Or a jet engine to blow across the exhaust pipe to get enough flow. Either its going to spin like it should or its going to spin backwards and try to blow it back through an exhaust valve, back through the intake valve and back into the intake and finally air cleaner. Even if it caused a venturi effect, I think it wouldn't do much of anything. Maybe move a little? I don't have a turbo to try it. I say its to keep rain and junk out of the exhaust when in transit. Just my thought.

    i cant help but chuckle at the irony of this vid, Wes is wearing an Amurica First touque when he's picking up his tractors that he bought in old Limey, seriously Wes theres some poor down trodden salesman and a dealership that support the American way of life that might not make its quarterly because Mr Pandy left a pile of Amurican dollars in pasty white Englishman hands, not to mention the English tractor is to be hooked to a baler made in Spelle northern Germany. Its not an old wife's tail about the turbo's. You left your's running like you said tho it's a none issue. But if you'd have turned the engines off it more then likely would have resulted in turbine damage, turbo oil journal tolerances are very very tight,so with out lubrication metal on metal contact is very likely.

    Hey Wes, just interested, why did you leave them running all the way home, won't that just eat through a small chunk of diesel for no reason?

    Wes I was a turbo tech for Detroit Diesel years ago and that’s not just an old wives tail but leav was the engine running supplies oil to the whole engine so that should be good unless you meet a Texas DOT trooper then that might be a different story enjoyed the videos

    if I remember correctly...you would be allowed to be over by a little due to your trailer being a spread axle trailer. However, it is still wise to secure to load correctly because they would use that as the excuse to do everything short of giving you a body cavity search.

    at 4:51 you can see someone did not put that hook on correctly. I'm still watching the video but I hope you double checked everything.

    the thing with the turbos are a myth I work for a custom harvest crew and we haul our equiptment everywhere and we never tape our exhaust sure they are 9r tractors but even with how big the turbos are the wind still doesn't spin them i was curious as to why you didn't put windshield covers on the cabs though that would be a pricey fix haha

    the turbo thing is mostly with "cat". I have never heard of trouble with anything else. by the way love the tractors and videos.

    burnt up turbos are definitely not an old wives tale, I've seen it happen several times on excavators that didn't have them bagged

  • @Nathan-pw7do
    @Nathan-pw7do 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    it's more of a problem with excavators because the exhaust is pointing straight forward. but I have seen it happen to three road tractors as well. I'm not old or a wife lol

    Why does a hay farmer need such big tractors? AFAIK you hardly do any tillage.
