I can see the weight and handling difference in the video. The Kraton bounces around over the bumps quite a bit vs the Sledge staying quite well planted, just soaking it up. Kraton is lighter, quicker on it's feet and more eager. My local hobby shop had them both side by side today. The tire compound and foams are much softer on the Sledge. The Kraton s are very Hard and firm by comparison. Kraton harder tire set, better for smooth track and high speed handling Sledge soft tire set, Better for off road rough terrain handling. Great vid, great comparison
The sledge is $699 compared to a Kraton 6s which is only $549 and the Kraton can easily accept all different motor and esc upgrades while cuz the sledges motor mount is a caged fit around the included motor it’s made specifically to fit it so in order to use bigger more powerful motor you gotta speed more extra money to buy a different designed motor mount/center diff mount to fit that different setup
For the Kraton being and older rc car I have to say it was ahead of its time when first released 💯💯the sledge now feels better to me as far as control in the air for sure & the stability of the sledge is what I love about it as well cool video 👍
Forsure earl! The kraton been out for some years and wasnt even the most up to date kraton he ran being rtr and not the exb. But I understand why he chose to do rtr vs rtr and not rtr vs exb. I think he was fair forsure in the video but his traxxas love deff showed just a little. I noticed him say "ohh no" on one of the categories when the kraton performed the trick that the sledge didnt lol. Both cars r dope, and I think traxxas and arrma both give us a damn good reason to buy both brands!
Lol lol lol yes he got a bit more love for traxxas. Also 55mph out the box with tsm off so why not up that kraton punch to 8 atleast. No jumping distance test but it's obvious in the video that the kraton jumps further
Just a brilliant video. Yes I was waiting for it. You did a superb job. Hats off to your for your hard work and thought you put into your videos for us. Lost time fan of you and your channel. John. Thanks again for sharing.
I think this review was decent. Not a fanboy but you can hear the excitement more so for the sledge albeit a newer car which is understandable. Both seem capable and fun depending on the driver. I will say this for 200 more rtr there should definitely be a wider gap as far as performance is concerned.
Looks to me like the kraton flies better, straighter and with the longer wheel base would just flip a little slower. I'd still go for the kraton. Love your content.
I dunno, the erevo is kind of in a different class, externally is looks similar, but under the body its different story. Doesnt even drive like a truggy 😅
The Kraton clearly had more torque(wheelies on demand), better steering, braking, and was faster out of the box. Gotta love Traxxas fan boys. "Oh no, don't tell me the Kraton is a good RC".
I think what's amazing about the Kraton is the fact its older and over $200 cheaper. I just don't know what justifies the difference. Also to buy arms for the Sledge are $70! I own both Traxxas and Arrma, Arrma is STILL impressive, I have a feeling a new Kraton is coming. Great video.
Great video and testing! These two are great cars. I have the kraton and I have a lot of traxxas vehicles, but I'm not sure I need the sledge. I don't have a problem with traxxas making a direct competitor, but I have always liked them because they go their own way and make different types of vehicles.
Thanks for the great review so far.. I love your enthusiasm for the hobby.. I am not in the market for either rc but I enjoy the approach that you are taking with this.. keep on driving!
I’m sticking with the Erevo 2.0 myself as the battery compartment built into the chassis keeps the lowest centre of gravity that’s awesome for such a big truck. Happy new year to you from 🇬🇧
It’s obvious that you “want” the sledge to win. You can hear it in your voice and comments made. I’m not sure how unbiased this comparison is. I do think however that the sledge is much tougher out of the box
@@josea.1975 It’s always hilarious to watch fanboys go out of their way to call each others fanboys on the internet, like it matters 😂. Dopey children or man-boys.
I have the Sledge and the Kraton too. I have the feeling that the Sledge has more Punch, and Batteries last longer. The Kraton feels really stable at top Speed. I Ordered a Motor Fan for the Sledge, but i have the feel its not really nessesary. The Kraton really need one, without u have to do breaks and wait a bit to cool down. The Copperhead Tires are better glued by factory. The diffs on that kraton makes me crazy. I broke 1 front Driveshaft on my Sledge, my maxx is still my number 1 hardcore basher.
Great video, I love that both of these were new out of the box! I loved my kraton, but enjoyed driving my erevo 2.0 more. Hoping to see how you compare those two!! Keep up the great content!!
Love Traxxas and Arrma. I had a kraton couple years back and the durability of this rc is a beast when it comes to taken a beaten. Since seeing the video now. I would definitely get both, but if I really had to choose... The kraton for me
Stock to Stock RTR I think the Sledge has the edge. However I will still take a Kraton EXB any day of the week. I don't like either of the stock electronics. I run a 8s castle system in my Kraton 1/8 EXB that can't fit in the Sledge. I own several Arrmas and Traxxas RCs. I think the are pretty closely matched but the price point goes to Arrma.
What makes you say that? The kraton is way more tunable than the sledge with factory parts. And only controlls better in the air because of the thicker diff fluids traxxas uses factory.
Try to put a bigger motor in the sledge😂. In my RC community we have a whole bunch of Sledges and Kratons. For me. Kraton all day every day. I live the modularity. Ive got a 8S spektrum ESC running on 6S and a 4294 motor in my Kraton. Its killer.
I always try to see what all brands have to offer rather than be a fan of a single manufacturer because they all do some things differently and all in all it is the customer who is the winner anyway because of the market competition between the brands. This is why I have both Traxxas and Arrma RCs, Xbox and Playstation game consoles etc. That said, in this case I'm rooting for the new addition to the hobby which is the Sledge and I think it is going to win your competition because there is no way Traxxas didn't focus on improving things from the most popular truggy on the market which is the Kraton. But I also think that the Sledge, being all new, will have some issues that will be fixed along the way with updated revisions, just like in every other model from any manufacturer.
Great comparison and like the plan for further comparing over time. I do have the sledge and amazed even with the slower servo how well it drives. Thought that would be more of a problem being slow but so far no problems getting it to drive how I want.
Awesome video! I love my Kraton and I’m glad Traxxas put together a worthy competitor. I feel like Traxxas stepped up their game with the 2021 Bronco TRX4 and have just been delivering some really impressive models ever since. Let me break down the cost difference. You can call Traxxas about anything on your RC and they will accommodate you. Horizon’s customer service, while not the easiest to navigate, is average.
I have not personally dealt with Traxxas customer service, but Trust Pilot does not show them (or Horizon Hobby) in a very good light with 73% one star ratings and 1.6/5 total. HH was 71% with 1.9/5 total rating. Horizon Hobby has better rating, but both were poor 😢.
Great video comparison dude ……. My Sledge is now upgraded with Arrma Backflip Wheels/Tyres, Hobbywing Max6 combo, Upgraded servo, did these upgrades over a 3 month period & now it’s 👌🏼
Great job 👏👍👌spot on very fair. Excellent work 💪. Few extra trys for the sledge but otherwise very good. It's your video you can do as you like 👍. I will own both
Of the two I'd choose the Sledge despite it being riddled with issues and overpriced. The Kraton 6S may be available at a much lower price but Arrma's durability issues persist, especially so with arms and diffs. If solely using them on the kind of terrain shown in the video then I'd be tempted to go with the Kraton 6S over Sledge and pocket the difference.
Great review thanks. I sold my Erevo 2.0 for a Kraton V5. I miss the Erevo but I do love the Kraton it’s a versatile fun truck and it’s easy to work on. The sledge looks pretty nice also. If I didn’t have and enjoy the Kraton so much I’d look into one. Mabey later on.
Depending on the promos (the Kraton was just $75 off when I got mine) as well as the proprietary battery and charger costs, the Sledge is just too much pricier to simply pass off as "$200 more". My Kraton 6S came to $725CAD all in and I can use my existing lipos and charger, whereas a Sledge costs $1150 + Traxxas proprietary lipos & charger. The Sledge is better but the price gap is huge.
@@martins2657 the fact is that with the tray cover the way it is you still need long, slender batteries. If you don't already have that then you're out of luck.
I bought two Kraton EXB rollers on sale for $330 each, $660 for both. For the same price or even less than the Sledge you can get 1 running Kraton EXB with premium electronics and even have a backup as spare, lol even objectively speaking is there really any comparison? I just got a 1/5th Kraton EXB roller this last Horizon Hobby sale for $500, add another $400-500 in parts and it's STILL cheaper than the Sledge?!? I mean c'mon now lol that's just crazy isn't it..
Man I love this channel. Not personally in the market for either but I love Traxxas’ loud designs and the improvements to this platform seem awesome. But I really enjoy your contagious enthusiasm and I hope I can get a Sledge at some point!
Man I don’t know who to vote for! The Krayton has had a great record for a while now but I’m really impressed and hopeful for what the Sledge has the show.
Great job! And I think a fair and square comparison 👍😃 Damn, I wish I had waited a few months…. Bought my E-revo 2.0 in January… but I’m happy with it of course 👍😃
Congratulations, you nailed both of your comparison videos! Plus, it was a lot of fun watching. I don't have a horse in this race as I have the erevo 2.0 and the 6s kraton exb as well as a serpent 811t for 1/8 fun. All different, all a blast. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. There is no perfect rc. It looks like traxxas used lighter shock oil or maybe the extra weight allowing the suspension to soak up the rough stuff without bottoming out constantly, looking at you erevo. Putting 70w in the rear shocks takes most of the bounce out of the kraton and I agree, on a track the lighter kraton wins. Not a clock cleaning but a win. Arrma and traxxas both did a good job on suspension tune out of the box for most drivers and terrain. Air control definitely favors the sledge and as far as chassis/driveline goes probably the more durable. Pretty sure traxxas will address the spur gear quickly. Try putting the copperhead 2's on your erevo. Don't know what the air control is but on the ground they're the best I've tried. Weight and offset are just right.Traxxas ptfe coated shocks are a huge improvement as well. Great video, glad both gave a good showing and stayed together. Choices and competition are always welcome. Drive/bash on!
I"m deciding Sledge or E Revo 2.0 (cost not a factor). Which do you like better for speed runs and minor to moderate bashing? Novice at fixing (I only have a Rustler VXL 4x4) but getting better as I go. Feel free to do a comparison video but an answer with lite detail would help a lot. Main draw to the E Revo is the passion of the people behind it and my buds have one which means I could get help fixing it. Draw to the Sledge is future proof and apparently it's easy to fix. Thanks for any help.
People coming through these videos commenting about Traxxas like they kicked their dog or something. I'm not really surprised they tied in your first impressions. Similar monster truggy platform and similar kv power plant. I have a K6s EXB with the rtr electronics. I run punch 6 all day and it's great for my driving. I also put 500k in the center diff. On punch 6, I agree the Kraton is a little lazy to come around on back flips but I like how it drives otherwise at that setting. I'm curious to try the 6S blackflips from the Outcast/Notorious and see how it does. They're a little taller than the Copperhead 2's but I don't know about their mass difference. You could probably try them off your Notorious to see if it changes the Kraton at all for in-air handling. I'm glad it wasn't just me struggling with lawn darting with punch on 4 😂. I definitely have broken the wing mount on the Kraton like you have on your Notorious, so you may just order the spare now. I think Duperbash is running the 3D-RC mount, which is one I'll get if my RPM one fails me
Man your property is like the ultimate RC playground lol. I've been eyeing up the Sledge since it came out. I'm definitely getting one, but I'll wait till all the bugs are worked out. I know down the line they'll be common issues that pop up like Traxxas had with the Rustler 4x4 and Maxx.
I dont know who I want to win because i like both brands, I'm leaning more towards the Sledge though, but minimal. Who i think will win is us, the consumer, because these two RCs pave the way for future products.
I have a Traxxas RC vehicle right now a Rustler VXL I also have other brands and had plenty of other brands in the past. I have never had an Arrma until now, I just bought me the Arrma TLR Typhon tuned and I am absolutely sold on Arrma products I would for sure by the Arrma over Traxxas anyday however i do like the new XRT.
I like how my kraton spins in the air a lot more time to react and not over do the rotation. My notorious spins twice as fast on the same jump and it's scary sometimes i dont have a lot of time to process and do the correct corrections. With traxxas cars its easy to over do it. I think its a skill you learn and the bound you develop with ur rc. everytime i brake i know its toing to land on all 4 and not nose dive
Always great vids man...my choice would have to be the sledge...and mainly support ..takes so freakin long to get parts...and also i think with all the interchangable parts the sledge has already just for color combos is outreal...love the orange but think id have to deck mine with green and orange totone
@@codenamethecleaner7519 i agree..maybe in there warehouses or online..however...the hobby shops ive checked there walls have very limited arrma...either way id still take the sledge...for all the color changes u can do ..with that said i wish both companies should give more body color options then just 2
My local hobby shop is packed with parts for traxxas and arrma, so that's not an issue. I like the sledge, but the price and the proprietary nature of traxxas and its batteries/parts keeps me away. I will stay with my Kraton for now (love the body mount on the sledge though, definitely a big thumbs up there!)
@@user-nu2pp5tc5q ya I see peoples videos saying the battery is so much easier to load and yes it is BUT I can run ANY battery I have in my Arrmas and for the sledge I have to buy more batteries 🤦🏻
guy at the hobby shop said he was able to break his sledge in a week. His Kratom, he cant break it. he said it handles everything he can throw at it. For me, that is THE selling point. a badass basher that id have to throw in a wood grinder to get some wear and tear on? yes please. jumps all day long baby 😎
My recommendation is use Teflon tape instead of loctite as you can ensure they mash on the threads securely without the risk of blue loctite not actually curing properly or holding up over time. A friend used red once and completely ruined the whole parts and tires as he tried to heat it without burning but failed lol.
Just thought I'd share a tip for loctite'd screws. When heat is a worry, use a soldering iron to heat the screw or nut. It works great for spots where using a torch is risky. Bonus tip: you can use a tiny bit of tire glue as loctite for screws that thread into plastic. I've even had limited success re-threading stripped plastic parts with a generous dab of tire glue on an oiled screw. I like the idea of using Teflon tape for 17mm wheel nuts, though. I'll have to try that out.
@@Brandon_Nelson92 I'm not familiar with tire glue trick but I love the soldering iron trick! That is a great idea! Much better control of the heat for any application.
I think the suits at Traxxas really hit a home run with the Sledge….. some say it’s better than the Kraton but I’m no expert with RCs so I can’t comment…. But…. I do own an E-RevoVXL 2.0 and have been having a ball with it …. The E-Revo to me is an off-road speed wagon that you can terrain bash with some mild jumps along the way but it’s not for big air sends …. You will break stuff….. the sledge is similar in size as the E-Revo but like in your video …. You can really send it ……all and all Traxxas has built a true off road BASHER!!! Gr8 content my friend….. thanks for sharing ☮️~~~~~~out!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I like the Kraton a bit better but I think the Sledge is a bit tougher. Both are awesome RCs for sure. 🔥 Pretty interested to see this comparison vid. Let's see what happens. 🤔 edit If I was going to buy a basher I'd have to go with the Sledge but I'm more of a racer so I'd go with the Kraton. Now if I bought a Kraton I wouldn't buy the RTR I'd get the EXB so I could pick the electronics and of course it has a lot of upgrades. Cool comparison vid. I enjoyed that 🔥👍 Subbed ✌️
I have seen the Sledge, it's a glorified 1/8 scale while the kraton 6S is between 1/8 and 1/7. The kraton is 550.00 to 579.00 and the Sledge is damn near 800.00 dollars. Sledge is the worst value for RC bashers right PERIOD.
I’m hoping the Kraton wins. Our household is currently all Traxxas, but I’ve long been intrigued by the Kraton. And as far as which one I think will win, I think the Kraton will win simply because it’s been around a lot longer model-wise, so Arrma has had plenty of time to work out any major issues (aside from wheels coming loose).
I know this was an out of the box test but I'd add a bigger pinion to the Arrma just by a couple of teeth and it flips a hell of alot better. The tyre's made a big difference too. The Sledgehammer's balloon a bit more than the Arrma's stock tyre's as one's designed to flip and the other is for a track. A truly fair test is to run them with the same tyre's. I'd love to see them go head to head with the same pinion size and matching boot's. Out of the box I agree the Sledge is slightly better,,, but give the Arrma stunt tyre's like the Sledge has got,,,, I think the Arrma would win. Nice video dude 👍 😎 🙏
I can see the weight and handling difference in the video. The Kraton bounces around over the bumps quite a bit vs the Sledge staying quite well planted, just soaking it up. Kraton is lighter, quicker on it's feet and more eager.

@@martins2657 the fact is that with the tray cover the way it is you still need long, slender batteries. If you don't already have that then you're out of luck.
You summed up everything I was thinking.
"OH! I hit a tree with it"
😅😂 Pure gold dude. You keep it real and that's what I like. GREAT VIDEO
They are both awesome
Man I love this channel. Not personally in the market for either but I love Traxxas’ loud designs and the improvements to this platform seem awesome. But I really enjoy your contagious enthusiasm and I hope I can get a Sledge at some point!
Great video. Lots of great information.
I upped my centre diff fluid to 500k on my kraton and it made it flip much much better. Sledge looks like n awesome rig
Love your punch setting video it's the best
Man I don’t know who to vote for! The Krayton has had a great record for a while now but I’m really impressed and hopeful for what the Sledge has the show.
Damn you had me nervous driving that thing down the driveway
Right? I think that’s the fastest I’ve been down my driveway.
@@outsourcedrc that's awesome
The Kraton come with sway bars where the Sledge don’t have them so it going to feel & handle different
I've increased the punch on my Kraton and oh boy. It moves and helps with backflips and really picks up the front end
Great job! And I think a fair and square comparison 👍😃 Damn, I wish I had waited a few months…. Bought my E-revo 2.0 in January… but I’m happy with it of course 👍😃
Honestly, I think the E Revo is better.
Some sick trick you pulled
Great video! So much fun yet objective. Good stuff man!
Just bought Traxxas XRt 8s! Lastet a few days before battery fire! Big Upgrade from Kraton 6s though!
Thanks for any help.
awsome vid traxxas cars have always had pretty good air control but the kraton is still a awsome rc keep up the good work
cool as always! love your channel! subscribed 😎🙏
That’s not a bad idea.
I have the Arrma Typhon V1,V4 and V5 and the Kraton V1 6s and since last week the Kraton 8s...
Never ever I lost a wheel nut or had 1 loose....
Lol Arrma has tons of stock and aftermarket support🤦🏻
Another Great video mate. Love my kraton but have spent alot on m2c upgrades, never messed with punch though so definity taking that tip, thanks :)
Great video dude. You can tell you love what you do. I like the Traxxas as well just wish the price would come down
Great comparison
"OHHH, I hit a tree with it."
Yeah man, we saw that too :D
I have and love them both! I am not a fan boy, I am a fan of good RC's, no matter the brand.
Just got home from school, plugged in the Maxx, and I'm boutta watch this video and go outside and bash right after 😈
They are both awesome!
Nice comparison
If I had more money I’d buy a sledge and sit it next to the kraton haha, I think the udr makes for a perfect first traxxas vehicle 👍😊
Wow, what a great video. Thank you so much as I was very torn between the 2. I think I will go with ARRMA…
Gr8 content my friend….. thanks for sharing
☮️~~~~~~out!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My E Revo is my big air basher. It’s the only one that I’m confident with doing full send jumps. It takes it all.
I like the Kraton a bit better but I think the Sledge is a bit tougher. Both are awesome RCs for sure. 🔥 Pretty interested to see this comparison vid. Let's see what happens. 🤔
edit
If I was going to buy a basher I'd have to go with the Sledge but I'm more of a racer so I'd go with the Kraton. Now if I bought a Kraton I wouldn't buy the RTR I'd get the EXB so I could pick the electronics and of course it has a lot of upgrades. Cool comparison vid. I enjoyed that 🔥👍 Subbed ✌️
Awesome video,I'm going to increase my punch setting to 6 for my exb 👌👍
Awesome vid 😎 would like to see you do the same tests with the punch levels maxed and both on the same tyres 🤔
The punch isn't adjustable on the Traxxas esc.
To me they both won they both made you smile and laugh😂😂👊
That’s all that matters!
I want traxxas to win I think traxxas will win
No.
@@eddajay yes. dummy.
Awesome video man thanks
Awesome!!!
Your a genuine true dude😎👍
Great presentation, man💨💨
Subbed💯
