So a bigger front bumper on the Arrma is bad, but a bigger rear bumper on the Traxxas is good? Plastic above the Traxxas shock tower provides protection, but in an Arrma it causes damage? You don’t have to buy EXB diffs, spend $200 more, and upgrade the Kraton RTR. Just get an EXB from the start. It’s in the same price range as a Sledge and is the fairer comparison.
THEN the comparison becomes much different. The EXB has the better front bumper, LSD diffs, thicker arms, 7075 aluminum everywhere including the chassis, shock towers, chassis supports, etc. How do the Sledge’s plastic chassis supports and shock caps compare now?
While you try to sound fair, I think a bias and motive are showing. Time will tell which is more durable, the Sledge or EXB. But by comparing to a Kraton RTR instead of an EXB, you’ve already decided to make a video that will put the Sledge ahead.

@@hayden199516 I have no bias. But this video was predetermined to promote the Sledge over a Kraton. He compares to an RTR Kraton and complains it needs $200 in upgrades. (That’s still cheaper than a Sledge.) If he compared to the similarly priced EXB, he knows the comparison would be much different.

The sledge is nice but the kraton 6s exb is the best basher. It’s 470 plus 200 for all electronics and that $670 and stock from its very durable but you can make it bulletproof with $130 worth of upgrades. So if you ask me get sledge if your more of a beginner and kraton 6s exb if you want a bulletproof car that you can keep sending 50 feet plus high.

I'll add my personal experience to this. My E-Revo 2.0 escs died with traxxas batteries. BOTH of them. The second one popped and it wasn't even warm. I can see why someone who hasn't had the experience would tend to blame the user, but at least in my case it was the product.

Apparently VXL-3S has been updated for Sledge, so hopefully the new version is fixed and makes its way back into E-Revo and UDR fast and everyone gets their obviously flawed old version replaced for free with the new one whenever it breaks. I really enjoyed this video. You explained so much about the Sledge and gave me many of the answers to many of the questions I had about the vechile. So much so that I am no longer going to trade it for something else which I had been strongly considering. Having owned several Arrma's I had been wondering why Arrma vechiles seem to have a "looser" feel to the wheels/driverrain with more wheelspin and/or rotation when either initially engaging or taking your finger off the throttle during different driving conditions. Conditions such as cornering then releasing the throttle and accelerating, there is more play in the wheels. I did not realize that the weight of the diff fluid is the cause of that and that Traxxas uses a heavier weight compund. It almost feels like Traxxas vechiles require more steady engagement of the throttle in some instances which now that I know there is nothing wrong with the vechile I am completely fine with it. I recently had gotten pretty used to the Typhoon 6s and Talion so I had been comparing it to them. Sometimes it is nice to have that but understanding that better really helped out.

I like the plated springs on the Kraton. Won't rust as easy as the Traxxas springs. It also looks like the Sledge might have a suspension tie bar that is painted or anodized blue. That would be a big improvement over the xmaxx where the tie bar is plain steel and rusts out like crazy. Overall I think these trucks would be way better if the manufactures paid more attention to corrosion protection. Makes it look nicer longer and easier to work on later.

    $800 and yet...
    - anodised parts not colour coordinated, blue body excepted (Traxxas sell them as accessories)
    - plastic shock caps (Traxxas sell metal ones for a grossly inflated price)
    - no cooling fan on the motor (Traxxas sell it as an optional extra)
    - heavy at 5.77kg (without batteries)
    - ponderous steering due to the slow steering server
    - considerable understeer (not properly remedied by TSM which induces oversteer)
    - lack of control at higher speeds due to ballooning tyres
    - same old Traxxas ESC
    - motor brace doesn't screw onto other motors like a Hobbywing
    - absence of 7075, including the 6061 chassis of 3.2mm thickness
    - tyre blow-outs still occurring despite the claims of improved gluing
    - nose-heavy so is awkward to land from jumps
Also, your assertion that Sledge won't wheelie too much due to its thicker fluids is not the case because various TH-camrs have already shown that it wheelies all too easily.

Can confirm, getting the broken screws out of the diff case when that Kraton's bumper breaks is indeed a pain in the derriere. Though it took mine a high-speed head-on impact into a lighting post to break that thing. Surprisingly, nothing else broke. Thankfully, the front hinge pin brace (the red piece right behind the bumper on Kraton) can be easily pulled out when the screws break, so you get about half an inch of bolt to hang on to with pliers.

Traxxas made like an extrem bash version to compete against the kraton then the comparaison would be better against the EXB’s RTR. I have yet to hear someone who is a fan of the exb RTR. I was able to build a kraton exb and get it running for 75-100$ more than the RTR but i have every upgrade the RTR doesnt have. The chassis both bent so far. Both wing mounts are wear items. The fix people have found for the wing mounts on the arrmas are 3D printed wing mounts from 3D RC. Made out pf TPU the RPM are more flexible and durable than the factory mount but still break pretty easily. Tbone is just too rigid and breaks other stuff

At 800 bucks you are only 100 or so away from an xmax or 8s arrma. I know you gotta still buy batteries and charger etc, but you gotta buy those items anyways no matter what vehicle you buy. Their main argument its too similar to our e revo so people will confuse the two. There was no similarities between the two one was made with metal frames and insane beefed up components. They still wont the lawsuit but hobbico was already at the edge of going out. The same argument could be used on the arrma side because the sledge and the kraton are a lot more similar than the e revo and nero were. Nice video! You made some good points, but after viewing several Traxxas Sledge video's, I've decided to pull the trigger on the Kraton EXB, it is more for me (while its on sale this month). I've been into R/C for more than 25 years, and at this point I want everything customizable, especially in the electronics area. Traxxas made a great "safe" truck that anyone can use out of the box, It really does look good. For the price though, the lack of suspension adjustment is what kind of bothers me, as does the overall weight, and small battery tray. Moving the camber link on the towers, is not the same as being able to adjust the over all length. IMO, it may be over priced, and should be around $650-$699 range. In this video a question is asked, is $200-$250 between the Kraton V5, and Sledge really worth it? Yes, definitely for some, but for only $200 more than the Sledge, you can own the King of the Traxxas line up, the Xmaxx.

Looks like it might be possible to flip the motor towards the back and relocate the esc. They do it to arrmas all the time. And look like it might just be possible with the sledge. I gotta look at it some more. But they need to just make these motor braces for all sizes with adjustment height so we can do this for any trucks. Iv searched and searched for a support or even a 3d print that cradles it.

Very "Technical" adjustments for a basher. In reality the reason for the plastic camber and toe links is so that you can pay Traxxas for "Upgrades" later that are adjustable.
