I've been working as a teacher for five years AND I've worked as a teacher for five years... both mean you started working as a teacher 5 years ago and you still work as a teacher... so there is no difference in meaning... why??? ... because 'Work' is a long-term habit verb and thus can be considered either a state or action verb... and as we know with state verbs (like know, be, etc) we must use the Present Perfect Simple (Conosco Martha da 8 anni ... I've known Martha for 8 years... NOT I've been knowing Martha for 8 years)... So if the person speaking considers 'working as a teacher' to be a state for them (a condition that's 'a part of them'/unlikely to change) then said person would lean towards 'I've worked as a teacher for five years' ... however, if the speaker considers it more like an action (because to work can be considered an action) then they'd use the Pres. Perfect Continuous because the action does start in the past and continues. I know... confusing right!!!
