    I actually enjoyed watching this more chilled out video. I can also totally relate especially because I get pretty grumpy, crampy, loose motivation in doing anything and have a lack of appetite when I'm on my first couple days of the month. A pretty annoying process but it gives me reassurance when I see videos like these. ☺️💛

    I really like that you posted this! It's so important to show people that sometimes it's ok to not have those "ideal" days and that everyone goes through this! It's part of being a healthy human! As someone who has struggled with being underweight and missing periods, I personally think that this video truly shows how healthy you are - getting your period is a market of true health for women and this really furthers the message of health and wellness that you promote!

    I literally just finished my "monthly gift". I never ever ever crave sweets until this particular time of the month and since I went Vegan almost 2 years ago, like clockwork I find myself the Whole Foods looking at the Vegan Donut section. I always get one chocolate one, eat it up and feel absolutely no guilt whatsoever. I eat so healthy otherwise, so you know... once in while is good!!

    If you're belly hurts when you're in your periods, try having 1 to 3 cups (or more ^^) of tea or any infusion a day with a little bit of pepper. You can drink this the day before the beginning of your periods or just when you feel pain. Any kind of pepper works for any kind of infusion. I began this remedy almost 7 years ago and I will never end!

    Thanks for being so real! I often get embarrassed about my period, maybe other women do to. So to see someone i look up to and get inspiration from, talk about the subject, makes me so happy. Thank you so much. Only thing i could not relate to was you not being hungry in the morning, i get so hungry on my period, especially in the morning!

    I'm 10 times more bloated when I'm on my period. And I'm quite skinny so it looks insane. I literally could pass as pregnant. Needless to say I would never wear a crop top haha

      Andrea Montero Have really dark chocolate, with a high cacao percentage. At least for me, it's the milk and sugar in the chocolate that gives me most of the acne!

      Not a problem! It's completely normal :) The uterus expands and goes through a lot that week! Lots of fruits and veggies :)

    Oooooooh girl! 👏🏻 I've never known of anyone else who has had to go to the emergency room because of their cramps before. I get them so bad that I can't move, talk, think, cry or anything. All I can do is lay down and look like death itself. You're not alone!

    This is completely off topic, but I wanted to say: I looove it that you have a face. I mean your natural face. I am so tired of all these female youtubers who cannot leave their house without fully covering their skin.     THANK YOU for your most relatable video yet! I follow a pretty strict WFPB vegan diet and I still have painful periods and painful ovulation. I’m dealing with ovarian cysts and actually just found out this morning that I have one the size of a tennis ball that may need to be surgically removed. I know how you feel, the pain is indescribable when they rupture.

    If you started yesterday twin I slept all day too.
    Also, I get bad cramps so I use thermacare.They make these heating pads that are on the g0. They l always last like 8 hour. The one I use is called thermacare menstrual pain pad.

    When I'm on my period (and right before it starts...), I have a huge appetite, I'm constantly hungry, my stomach is rumbling all the time... So maybe you are actually lucky to have lower appetite during your period XD And I do excercise even then because it improves my mood and really helps me with cramps and pain :) Also, trying not to overdo chocolate on those 'special' days, I make hot 'chocolate' drink from homemade oat milk (much thicker than the one I can buy as I don't let the oats blend completely), cacao powder, and dates' syrup. Of course it doesn't taste exactly like a bar of chocolate but I don't have to feel guilty having this 10 times a day while on my period :D

    I love your tips! I'll have to try the magnesium. I have a trick - DIY heating pad by putting dry uncooked rice in a sock and heating it in the microwave for 40 seconds or so.

    It was so great hearing your personal experiences! I feel like I push myself when I’m on my period, I feel bad about laying in bed for too long or not working out.. Definitely going to try those magnesium packets for cramps... they look life changing!

    I am so glad you filmed this, Maddie. I did not know about the Magnesium packet, so I am def going to try those out. I deal with the really bad, ER visit, crap periods monthly (never lost mine either), so it is so nice to see that another vegan deals with the same. Some months are better, some are total agony, never in between lol. I generally take it easy the first two days + heating pad and do what my body will let me do.

    I'm the same with the cramps and cysts rupturing. I used to be on pills too but since going vegan I take a natural approach. I drink Tension Tamer tea, meditate, and walk doing knee lifts. The calmer I can make my body and do deep breathing the more tolerable the cramps are.

    Thanks, Maddie. That was interesting to listen to! When mine drops, all I do for the first day is watch videos of winter in Russian Siberia, lay on the hard floor with a heating pad and drink coconut water.

    I just started today and I decided to have breakfast in bed which was half a cantaloupe with kiwi and strawberries. Cantaloupe always helps with my cramps.

    Hi, Maddie! In my vegan journey, I have also been cutting out chemicals and toxins from my body (including the birth control pill, and now soon to remove my copper IUD). I was wondering what form of natural birth control you use/suggest? I was considering a diaphragm with the Daysy fertility monitor. Thanks for always keeping it real and sharing your life with us!     Its honestly a relief to know that you get cramps too even on a healthy vegan diet. A lot of vegan youtubers say how your cramps just go away when you go vegan but thats a dead ass lie I eat clean and still get bad cramps and back aches!!!

      Totally! For a lot of people it does improve! And it has for me as well, but I do still get some bad months where the pain is unbelievable! It's just time and letting your body work itself out!

      Don't feel bad!! Getting a period is one of the most natural things ever! I don't mind getting it or having it... but the cramps that can sometimes come along can be annoying for a few hours!

    Just accidentally discovered that eating pineapple during your period reduces cramps bloating etc. I randomly became obsessed with pineapple for breakfast and ate it through my cycle this month. I had zero cramps which is really abnormal for me as I usually get terrible can't even move pain for day 1&2...I looked it up and voila, it's a natural remedy!

    Maddie, I just found this local company, My Binto. It may be helpful as it assists women with their hormonal health. I just naturally, through diet, got my period back after 20 years so you could say that this is a passion.

    Hi Maddie, I think the most effective way to avoid any cramps during period is to avoid any cold drinks/food during your period at least this is according to my mom and my past experience. Hope it helps! ;)

      I totally feel you! Woman (especially our hormones) are so delicate, and if one small thing is off it can cause us alot of misery, unfortunately! The calm packs are a life saver. I think both Sarah Lemkus and Mary from Mantras and Mangoes both deal/have dealt with PCOS and they will both probably have lots of good tips for you :)

    It's a little chilly in LA, only around 17 degrees celcius - me, in Germany, currently - 7 degrees celcius, but no snow. :) so jealous of your warm weather. Love this more chill, female body embracing video btw.

    I use those magnesium powders every day!! I often have them at night before bed after soccer and track practice when my muscles are dead. I've never seen anyone who also uses them so that just made my day:)))
