Shallow, rich and socially successful Cher (Alicia Silverstone) is at the top of her Beverly Hills high school's pecking scale. Seeing herself as a matchmaker, Cher first coaxes two teachers into dating each other. Emboldened by her success, she decides to give hopelessly klutzy new student Tai (Brittany Murphy) a makeover. When Tai becomes more popular than she is, Cher realizes that her disapproving ex-stepbrother (Paul Rudd) was right about how misguided she was -- and falls for him.

ICONIC movie. everything about this movie is perfect. very funny and has the most iconic scenes of all time.
the way they loosely based this from the story of Emma by jane austen, makes this one of those rare movies where the modern adaptation of a classic story works out so good and well too, that it made a mark on film history itself and on its own and became a prime pop culture reference.

To be 16 when the movie came out you would have had to be born in 1979 - as Cher was (although Alicia was born in 1976).
I was born in ‘79 and I LOVED this movie as a teen! Although I get a bit upset sometimes that aging is hitting me like a freight train, I also realize how blessed I am to have been a teen in the 90’s! My two teenage daughters loved to ask me about what it was like being a teen then and how they wished they could have experienced being a teen in the ‘90’s as well. Those of us who were born in the late 70’s - early 80’s who got to experience high school in the 1990’s are truly fortunate!

I was afraid I was gonna hate it but it ended up being very charming and funny update of the modern Jane Austen Emma story. Earned $55 million at the box office. The actors were actually teens during filming which says a lot given Hollywood these days casts 30 year olds.
So many quotable lines and cultural references.
Cher is dim witted but her intentions are in the right place. Love Dionne’s character by Stacey Dash and the late Brittany Murphy as Tai. It’s true sometimes even we can be clueless about life, love, and feelings. It is funny how Paul Rudd hasn’t aged a day since. I’ve never seen the tv show or the stage musical.

i was adopted from vietnam in 1998 march and my american sister would watch this movie at least once a month and me seeing a blonde american girl like her made me fall in love with blonde girls. every crush i had since 1st grade to now have been blonde girls

I think Clueless spined off the very 1st original American Pie movies and original Austin Powers movies.

Cher Acting was so cute and adorable. and my God Paul Rudd is always the same, He really looked like Antman in clueless, hasn't age since birth lol. I became sad when I realize Tai in Real life died. Overall Its peak Hollywood here. Time flies but paul rudd and Alicia Silverstone aged like a fine wine. I mean the entire cast.
