Just an FYI to everyone the step of removing the hose is quite important as with these systems it's easy for air to get trapped. Trapped air my not cause any issues straight, away but after a long drive the coolant may be forced out of the cap on the resivour. There is another way which isn't necessarily easier but uses 2 pipes that are more accessible.
With the upper hose disconnected, add coolant until bubble-free coolant emerges from the hose/stub, then reconnect it. It's just a way of allowing the air to escape.
There is no actual heater valve in the coolant circuit, so turning the heater on or off won't affect the coolant flow. It should bleed fine using the procedure in the video!
i have to say?i have the 1.8 zetec 16v engine in mine,04 reg,and have had a few cooling system issues recently,(leaking and such),but not once when refilling the system have i ever disconnected the heater hose?never had any issues ,but also never been told this or heard this before...

Thanks for the tip!
With the upper heater supply hose, you say disconnect that and do what exactly?

Shouldn't you open the heater valve (turn the heating on) before draining (and keep it open while bleeding a new coolant into the system)?

@@HaynesManuals Thanks a lot!
Is it possible that there is no drain plug on the later models?
Your haynes manual for the focus had the incorrect torque for the subframe bolts. Caused me to snap a subframe bolt in side the frame

Hi. Just for clarification, is the heater supply hose the top or the bottom one? Thanks.
Disconnect the upper heater hose at the engine compartment bulkhead.
@@HaynesManuals thanks.
Do you run idle with the reservior cap off?
Yes. After the initial filling, this is what the manual says: 'cover the filler opening to prevent coolant splashing out. '
How did you start the engine while the key remained in the bonnet lock? You assume everyone has 2 keys?
Take the key out the bonnet when it's unlatched
I Couldn't start the car because the key is in the bonnet lock
@@albg8939 you can take it out
Run it in 2750rpm car nose in a hill, better air removal
never with any car ive had for that matter..
