HI JOnny, do u need to turn the AC on with the heater or the heater only? can u turn it maybe half way (middle).
I usually just run the heater so it circulates coolant through whole system 👍

I have a Honda City 2021 model (Asian spec.... In South Africa its a Ballade) anyways, i notice these radiator caps are really crap. or they seem crap. They dont have a good tight fit or they just dont see to have much of a press down when u open them, i wonder if they even seal well? My car has only dont 21000 kilometers but the climate here is a killer, extremely hot... humid weather. How will i know when to change my cap.... besides checking the rubber for strange cracks or warps....

Excellent. You just never want to do a full flush on a radiator that’s been obviously terribly neglected.
Tried telling this to a friend & she wasn’t going to heed my advice. She ended up having to get a new radiator system.

My hoses are collapse when cold and hot and the temperature is not cooling down until it's over heating and overheating only when driving
I would start by replacing the radiator cap, collapsed hose and overheating can both be caused by this 👍
Bro, what to do if you have a heater core bypass?
Same process just wont be able to run heat. So just run car to circulate and get any potential air pockets out. Can jack radiator end up or park on incline to help make bubbles come out faster too 👍
Yes i had this in South Africa, less worrying about wet carpets in the car and fixing a heater matrix, so my mechanic just did a bypass.
What happens if air pockets remain the radiator system
Can lead to overheating, that's why you want to run it with cap off to let bubbles all escape 👍
What if I topped out the coolant just as u did and I had my car run for 15 min but my coolant didn’t go down like it didn’t cycle…?
Then probably full. Make sure came up to full operating temperature so thermostat opened. Keep an eye on level for next week to make sure doesn't need topping up 👍
I ask auto parts store to get the right coolant and they said it takes the green stuff and few months my radiator is leaking and when I check the radiator cap it said dexcool orange stuff auto parts lie
Green stuff is fine but should drain all old dexcool first. Probably just coincidence why it's leaking I'm thinking though
Yea I did it got only green stuff I flush out the dexcool
Now the radiator leaks whatever sometimes it doesn’t leak pure green is coming out of the radiator
@@RodSullivanik depending on mileage could just be time to replace radiator. And sometimes they just go out prematurely. I'd check all your hoses first too 👍

Hi jonny my 2002 mitsubishi galant is overheating really bad and making super loud hissing noise i looked at radiator and no fluid in it at all so i topped it off and now noticed behind firewall area and engine its leaking coolant maybe hoses are bad any suggestions cause the radiator and its hoses are fine nothing infront only in the back area its leaking
Try and pinpoint where its leaking from. A hose or line back there. Worst case scenario is it's leaking from headgasket. You can do a pressure test on cooling system to help find leak. In the mean time keep topped off with at least water and keep eye on temperature gauge until you can find leak. If you check on cold engine and first start up you can sometimes find leak easier

As long as I keep it filled with water and gauge doesn't go to high on hott I'm fine with driving it and it wouldn't ruin or completely destroy the engine ..it has not smoked as of yet just hissing really loud and air blowing loud when hott or pressured. Definitely a leak after I drove the car on full hott for about 20 min I know that was stupid of me
@@jasonnasiry yes should be fine short term. If started steaming and hissing making noise again, best to figure out problem soon as you can. If headgasket, it won't matter (just dont want to overheat and warp engine head), but hopefully it's something much simpler 🙏👍
U possibly might know which hose or line it might be my coworker said it possibly the heat core hoses . Not sure what hoses back there are connected with the radiator or coolant

I recently replaced the cap of the radiator on my 2003 Jeep, a day or two the radiator fan stopped working… me changing the cap couldn’t have cause it right? The coolant gets so hot that looks like boiling water.
Is it electric fan? Make sure you got the right radiator cap. They have different pressure ratings, if didn't get right one coolant can run a lot hotter

It was probably the fan clutch going out the whole time that was causing overheating issue and not radiator cap. Have the issues gone away with both replaced? If not check make sure psi on cap matches up with factory cap
@@JonnyDIY the car is in Mexico (my hometown) I went last week and took a few parts that were needed as maintenance radiator cap/gas filter/lug nuts… ect just to prevent any failures, the radiator fan is 1 year old.. when I noticed it was overheating I park it and let it cool off.. then I turn back on and watch the car run for approximately 10 minutes and the fan never came on causing the car temperature to rise . Fan should come on 1-3 minutes after running the car correct?
@@josej-h1471 yes fan should come on right away or once a little warmed up. I would replace the fan clutch, must have been a defective part only 1 year old.

Can still do same process, but use reservoir instead with vehicles without radiator caps and only reservoir caps 👍

My water looks red orange
I would do a complete flush and refill with universal green coolant or if its a Toyota Pink coolant, or if Honda blue. Or if European they call for special too.
