    I love that UK antiques Roadshow is outdoors in those beautiful English parks and by old castles. I live in Australia and have never understood Brit's obsession with wanting to live here simply because of the beaches and weather when you are surrounded by daily reminders of such a long, rich history and other beautiful countries at your door step.

    • @MsBAustralia
      @MsBAustralia 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Lady Boy That sounds amazing! I love England so much. It seems like more and more Aussies are moving to the UK while more people from the UK are moving to Australia every year. It is somewhat ironic given our close history with England and how some Australians ended up here.

    • @veronicafarlette3097
      @veronicafarlette3097 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it is beautiful, full of history and tradition, BUT, You can only enjoy these things occasionally, the rest of your life is scrabbling through poor weather, poor wages, class distinction,(don't believe that twaddle by Tony Blair that it is a classless society), never being able to actually pay for your home in your lifetime, etc etc That is why people emigrate to Australia, Canada, to have a chance at a modest but better life !!

      @@veronicafarlette3097 Exactly what Veronica said. Our summers last about 6 weeks, and it's back to glum dreary weather, lack of good job opportunities, overpriced rent and cost of living, and just not a great quality of life in general. I've lived in other countries. Coming back to the UK is always a disappointment.

    • @maggieleroy3184
      @maggieleroy3184 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      julie Harris Before calling someone deluded or patronizing do some research. Cheerio was used by Londoners mostly to say goodbye way before the breakfast Cheerios even existed. The word originates from the 17th and 18th centuries in England when people were transported by sedan chairs instead of taxis. You would call for one by calling out "Chair ho!" So Chair ho became associated with people leaving to go somewhere else, and over time "Chair ho, turned into Cheerio!! And maybe you don't know anyone who uses the word but it is still being used.
