My love of stones and jewels was seriously dampened when a relative made my dementia-addled mother think I had stolen mom’s sterling flatware, and then accepted all my family’s jewelry held by my mom. For a year following my mom’s passing, she pretended my mom had misplaced the jewelry. I finally dragged the truth out of her, and I had my attorney deal with her. I got the stuff back, but things were never the same.
“Came in a box of bits and bobs” lol cute expressions.
This was from the year 2000 this stuff is worth soooo much more now.
I love how the expert spent time discussing the cheaper items too
Yes and he is nice about them ❤
Professionals indeed who value beautiful pieces
unlike the American version an interesting article is what really matters.
I adore the lady who brought all of the brooches! She just seems so sweet!
Her knuckle rings were SO COOL!
scary mary.
I just adore the lady with all the costume brooches! My hope is that she and her family are all very happy today ❤
I love the snowflake brooch!
I’m always glad when the ladies say things like it was my mother in laws and she would be so pleased. Mi e never would ever!
I' love these videos about antique jewellery ❤
The heartshaped Fabergebrooch may have a green tourmaline in the center.
Women were honored and loved as the beautiful individuals they were back in the day, and these precious pieces reflect that adoration.
He's you are right. Ladies were raised as such and would never engage in unlady like behavior. Jewelry was the connection of heart. My husband was born 1929. I was born 1953. I was an arranged marriage and he spoled.me.often with jewels. I'm 71 and the last of my treasure on the block. I'm glad I knew that joy!
@@sheelahkayestepkin4025
Wow .
Thank you for sharing your story.
I'm so glad you were treasured and loved in such a befitting way.
Stood you in good stead for your future.
I agree, but money played a huge part!
wildly undervalued. These would be worth so much more today.
You are absolutely right I hope they waited and never sold it also this video is proof of their value.
worth much much more back then too.... lowball estimates
It would be lovely if they put the date of the show on screen
@@lyndatanevski6651
Not just "lovely" but necessary to ascertain context! 👍
OK Avalon from TH-cam
I love that this is all jewelry!
I literally gasped when I saw that first unusual opal necklace. Stunning, and a beautiful way to set opal.
Isn't it stunning? There were many beautiful things featured, but I absolutely love that. Reminds me of a kite a little bit.
Yes, Australians will recognise Opal anywhere and understand it's value. I'm still grinding my teeth about an Opal and Silver ring that I lost whilst travelling overseas many years ago. Had picked up in a market for $30 in Sydney, a couple of years later saw almost the exact same stone, colour size etc. in a Jewellery store. It was priced at $2.5K. 😮😢
@@linmonash1244 I’m recalling various pieces of jewelry that I’ve lost over the years. It’s amazing how they live on in your memory.
Aww love antique jewelry and miss the antiques roadshow 😢
It’s still on air and they are still producing episodes
The owl brooch and cufflinks are so Harry Potter theme now…
Love them!
My favourite however are the Ceylon sapphires flower necklace ❤
I'm drooling here at the beauty of all this gorgeous jewelry.❤
4:29 this is one of the most beautiful pieces of jewellery I have even seen.
Turquoise ruby and diamond piece melted my heart such a wonderful item showing passionate love forever it must have made the wearer feel adored and very special!
Thanks so much for your efforts, and for sharing this with us. All my favourite presenters. Geoffrey Munn is such a fine, warm, cultured man, and John Benjamin is only one step behind him.
" Fabulous " What more to say
So many reminders of my late mother's jewellery box. She had a very difficult life.....but a very good eye for quality. 💞🌟
So glad that she had great jewelry! ❤
My absolute favorite period of jewelry and furniture
Wow..
Some mother's in law are very kind to their daughter's in law!
Good to hear!
❤❤❤❤❤i would pay 50k for those emeralds n diamonds ❤❤❤❤oh so many beautiful items. Love old jewellery ❤❤❤
The Brits are a unique lot.
Those over 60 are, indeed.
We certainly are
Tsar Nikolas was a very generous open hearted and opened hand man to give such expensive gifts to simple humble people like that chef. Not like other monarchs☺
And where exactly did this generous Tsar get his wealth?
Not sure what year each segment was filmed.. All gold pieces are worth so much more right now with gold at premium prices today.. Especially the emerald jewelry in the beginning segment..
The programs were filmed between 2000-2008. It would help if present day valuations were given/ printed. This is done when the Antiques Roadshow is shown many years onward. Frustrating as all heck that bbc only care about views Not viewers! Click bait…
Amazing how precious stones lift up the spirit of joy. Even watching them is pleasure to the eyes💖
the flag bracelet very cool
Oh I loved that one especially. I could imagine the female wearer been admired back then while wearing it 😊
I wish the camera would focus more on the jewelry, showing it a bit longer and not at an angle. These are beautiful pieces that we want to see.
Love this.....again jewelry always my favourite and I love the stories.....❤
The stories are gems, too!
I never liked my birth stone: the peridot. *However*, when I saw the giant pendant with the enamel work on both sides of it, I was blown away by how gorgeous it was. ❤
Peridot is a glorious gem stone - it's my favourite! It's the same divine colour as the sun shining through Linden tree leaves.
First time I ever thought my August birthstone was pretty
Lovely to see, thank you for streaming these on TH-cam 😊
Фаберже на все времена!!!!
The Chaumet crystal lapel pin is my favorite! The purple amethyst orchid brooch with the diamonds is wonderful.
I felt in love with the 15:30 piece: Holbein in front, Indian on the backside. Such a pity I cannot purchase it because it is out of my range price. He has evaluated 8 thousands in the 90s, so I m scared at the perspective of how much it would cost right now. Anyway, with me It wouldn't hold the "pristine condition" it had at the time of filming for much longer, because I would wear it continuously. If I m working, shopping of cleaning I would hold it under my shirt, only in the right situations I would flaunt it in front of everybody. This is a piece that implies commitment: or you wear it all the time or you live it alone, and I m sure about it!
Im a peridot freak, and i about shouted when i saw the first piece of gem stones, gold and enamel 😮😮
geoffrey munn is such an amazing appraiser
He’s great
I’m sure they’re worth much much more.
That owl is gorgeous 13:16 catseye stones change color so beautifuly how perfect for owl eyes.
The owl cufflinks and the diamond Russian broach were gorgeous.
Emeralds are the most expensive precious gem today. This particular show was from 2007 to 2009. Gold prices were lower than but I agree 100% that the first emerald necklace is worth far more than the snowflake at least today.
I thought rubies were way more expensive, which would explain the snowflake. I'm definitely not an expert, just going on my own attempts at buying my mother a ring with my sister and I's birthstones. The ruby was way more expensive than emeralds.
Edited to add: I gave it a quick Google, which is definitely not scientific, but it does appear that good quality rubies are much more expensive than emeralds of similar quality. I guess because it's just harder to find rubies.
OMG thank you for compiling this gorgeousness!
Amazing artisans! Designs!
I learned a lot , And I hope to retain some knowledge. Most of all. I particularly enjoyed this epsoide
,
Such fun to see such gorgeous pieces of historic jewelry.
My God, I wish I would find that in my mother-in-law’s the safety deposit box. I love emeralds.
Really enjoyed looking at the jewellery. I was bought a black opal in 1970, my niece has it now as I gifted it to her. I was a bit sad as I loved it, but arthritis in my fingers made it impossible to wear....
Kind of you to give it to her rather than to sell it.
Good to give to those special people in your life. I told my husband to give a Particular ring to my niece. Three weeks later she died. I was so sad. I wished I had given it to her sooner! 😢
Very good you have inherited it from your niece. But it would also have been nice for you to have turned it into a pendant to put on your neck, or also into a pin to wear on a jacket.
My Mother gave me some money for my birthday, I added to it and bought the ring. So as I told my niece she has something form both Mum(her Grandma and her Aunt) .we all had a close relationship.@@rogeliomalagon285
@@IrishAnnieSo sorry. 😔🙏❤️
Absolutely gorgeous jewelry 😍😍😍😍😍❤❤❤❤
The best part about all the reveals is even though everyone is excited that the jewelry is worth a lot, they don't want to part with it...
The emerald Art Deco Brooch in the first appraisal was extremely underestimated...!
Suspicious.
@@edennis8578
Yeah!
I thought so too!
Very undervalued!
@@edennis8578show is 25 years old it would be £10k minimum nowadays
i love what people have got and they dont even realise how much thet have got
makes me feel like going through all of my jewellry and other bits...x
Love the Opal pendant. .
Delightful show. Thank you!!
Imagine how much they are wirth now ,the first few evaluations where in 2001 !!! 😮❤.
I LOVE This Show❣️🗝️

beautiful i love victorian things xxxxx
My favorite gems are emeralds. I would love to know the history from mined to today and who it was owned by.
Absolutely love how expressive they are as they describe the jewelry
Thank you for this. Lovely things and very interesting compilation.❤
Wow Jason.......I love these pieces....I've always been fascinated by moonstones. Gerald
Thanks again for your posts....Those steel fingernails😮😮😮😮!!!
I wont be shaking hands...😬😱
Nice to wear when you’re walking home alone in the night, these should be mass produced and would sell in great numbers. ❤️🤗
I like seeing the Episode format , rather than snipets . I do enjoy the Program.😊
W O W ! ! ! What crafts manship!
The apraiser is amazing! Knowledge able! Weaving together periods, artisans, information, styles,...¹
I learn sooo much from him!
🙂
😂 Marijka from Phila. Pa. in the. States. 😊
I really miss it being shown here in the USA...one of my favorite tv shows
Take care. We'll all be here when you get back to feeling better!✌🕊🌞
very interesting jewels and in both silver and gold settings. so neat!
У первой дамы в этом видео изумруды волшебные ))) и брошь- клип и серьги и колье …
Beautiful pieces.
😘🙏❤️🌹 Lovely program and God bless to the program
Oh, loved this segment and would also appreciate one on Costume Jewelry...
Very good point!
Get busy you costume jewelry makers!
. I love the Necklace ❤
Yes you know if you have anything old Russian and Faberge you are set.
For life
I have long held a fantasy of finding a Faberge egg in some old attic, but I am not counting on it, LOL!
Oh my god, I love the opals.
It's like flashes of fire in ice!
wow first 3 segments are soooo pretty
It would be interesting to know the values of these in todays money, like PBS does with their antiques Roadshow older valuations.
The price of gold today would make these much more expensive.
Beautiful jewellery , stunning pieces.
All these pieces were amazing, but I disagree with their evaluations. That large necklace is worth much more!
Some of these clips are 20 years old!
#kkuwan The canvas tote actually reminds me of the Hermes Garden Party too.
Thanks for making this video to suggest more budget friendly alternatives. love it!
Those pieces of jewellery were worth much more, than the appraiser said.
It’s the age of the programme
The emeralds and diamond jewelry the dil had money signs going off in her eyes. I hope she keeps them in the family
The lady at 19:25 who told the story about the opals being a present from her husband because of a dinner guest.
Is also the lady 30:33 who told us that owl cufflinks were bought for her husband.
Her protestations that she didn't know the cufflinks were ruby and diamond or that she was unaware how much the opals were worth hmmm.....
Who wouldn't have taken all their jewelry to the one program and had them appraised at the same time?
Or said, "I was here a few months/years ago and have come back with something else"
AR has dealers bringing in pieces, I know of one for certain from years ago. It was a complete pantomime with him pretending he didn't know what the paintings were worth, and that he had inherited them, he was an art/antiques dealer quite well known locally.
And the BBC would have known that as well.
I don't mind too much, but why not be honest with the viewers? Why the charade that everybody has found something in an old box or the attic rather than "I have something really interesting and thought you might like to feature it".
Going on and on about the damned dinner party... Please. And thinking the opal necklace was basically a piece of crap? So obnoxious.
Not ONCE did she say the opal necklace was a piece of crap, what are you even talking about?
@@grytlappar
It would also be honest to say "I bought it a few years ago and I'm bringing it in to have it appraised today." Instead of saying "I inherited it from my grandmother, I don't know what it is or how much it's worth." Or not? We are not stupid!
Missed the live but what a show!
It’s clips from multiple old shows.
Первое изделие - какое высокое качество , мастер))) настоящий ювелир …
@5:30 how could that old women not know that was opal!!!!!!!????😮🙄😮💨 it's the only Stone on the planet that looks like that!!!!!!!
Some people just don’t know
Do you think it’s possible that she thought they might be abalone or mother of pearl slices?
Beautiful video! ❤
So English 😅 love this show very very much 🎉🎉
Did you ever make a series like this going to different countries ❓
So much fun to watch
This video is educational and very impressive indeed!
This is an old show. The emerald set today would go for a lot of money, especially the necklace as it dates from historical times.
3/11/23 this is based early 70's look at hair styles, glasses & clothes this is valued to that time maybe earlier just my observation my favorite show maybe way to early in the year of 70's I'm not sure now 😊
I think 2000 not 70s
Late 90’s to 2000
Funny how disappointed was the lady expression at 17;15, when she heard it was rock crystal instead of large diamants, and how quickly changed when she heard "Burmese rubies": you can tell that this woman is in searching for fast cash...
How nasty of you
Fast cash 😂 she got it when she was 15! Honestly some people project what they want to see.
I would love to see what these are valued at now, and if anybody kept their finds or if they all sold them immediately
I wish todays prices were displayed
Nice one
Wow! cute!
The snowflake is worth $6000, but that stunning first emerald necklace is worth about 5-6 thousand! No way!
Remember the prices quoted are for insurance purposes and they were made 24 years ago, the price could be doubled or even tripled now and if they went to Auction, you only have to have two people who really want it and the sky is the limit as to what someone would pay for it!
Снежинка , похоже на украшение для волос принцессы Сиси …
@@sarahyates6055 Actually sometimes they mention insurance, sometimes auction, sometimes retail.
@@AH-te5gs an Auction price is only an estimate or a reserve value items can go for much higher prices especially if you have two or more people wanting an item
@@sarahyates6055 Yes, I know that.
I loved the owl..
44.30 “poaching a chef …’ probably unobserved by most, but an amusing little gem of a comment.
I hope that the exposure these beautiful pieces got..never led to any unfortunate incidents!
Takes a lot of courage, i would imagine, to show people your treasures.
And even bring them yourself to such a public venue!
The emerald pieces in the begining would be valued in the tens of thousands of dollars now…and I’m shocked that later in the show the diamond starburst broach was appraised at nearly double the value of the emerald necklace at the begining! No way!
