- The stunningly tranquil South Island of New Zealand recently reverberated to the evocative motorsport engine note of the Rodin Cars FZERO hypercar. The concept of the FZERO was first revealed to the world last year, and now the New Zealand-designed-and-manufactured hypercar has entered the test and development phase.

This is whats known as a shakedown run, usually done on a newly built car and it should be a slow paced run with the intent of checking that nothing is falling apart, rubbing, or disintegrating itself. shakedowns should be done harder and harder until you properly run it hard and take it to its limits.@@jonasgonzalez2751

@@VanessaSGamingParadise prototypes are ment to be crashed and they need to break too have data soo you can do adjustments and improve the final model. And the track I think is small but enough soo a professional driver can do something to do this merchandise and publicity.

Before even thing about that, those tests been done prior of the building the prototype , thats the more logic approach to me xD

Looks like a lot of metal 3D printed suspension parts, hope they've been carefully FEA'd and stress tested for lifing and failure mode. And as has been pointed out, the front wheel arches seem quite high, I'm curious as to the aero benefit, or was it styling? Overall it's nice to see another boutique track star, but given the huge bubble canopy I hope it has a good AC unit as standard...
Man that engine sounds angry just cruising along.....can't wait for the full beans videos.
As an aside, the landspeed new zealand association have an event on Sunday the 10th of March along Goudies road just out of Reporoa.
Could be a handy time for that full throttle top speed test run....

@@jonnowocky8179this ones bespoke from what they said. There are a few projects that apparently going for the 5.2 FSI from Audi/Lambo, idk how theyre getting it since they stopped making it as of this year, but who knows, if anything if they still want to keep the V10 they could go to judd and see if they can detune/adjust their 5.5 liter V10 to have proper durability at the cost of not being so extremely powerfull if NA, and if hybrids and/or forced induction might help it.

No limits? There are limits. It won't come close to 700 MPH.
I don’t love the design. But, considering the weight of the car and the downforce required to keep all that V10 power on the floor, I’m sure the form follows the function. If Rodin are serious about making this the fastest track car in the world - faster than an F1 car - then I can’t wait to see what it can do when it’s finally driven in anger. I will say, if I’d seen this car when I was 10, it would’ve been an all-time, inspiring favourite. I hope it delivers.
I'm not sure form follows function, put yourself in the driver's position, those 2 front wheel arches are blocking the view, the only way to get better visibility is to mount a camera at the roof and let the driver put on a VR helmet to view the car from the camera

@@jonnowocky8179 you don't have imagination to put yourself in the driver's seat of this car that's why it's too hard for you to comprehend, even the F1 cars from this year don't block the view with their front wheels as much as this car, because the driver's helmet in F1 is just about the same line as the front wheel arches on an F1 car, this car's front wheel arches are way above the driver's line of sight, this car's cockpit is way too low if you look at the windshield and compare it to its wheels

The point of placing EVs into racing is to get the public used to what is inevitable and to recalibrate expectations, you should be glad that electric is permitting racing to continue in the face of climate change at all. ☺️

Good job NZ! Is the plan to run this on synthetic fuel? How far advanced is NZ's Net Zero plan - is there a risk that mistaken 'decarbonisation' will make a vehicle like this difficult to fuel? There's no reason at all why motor fuel shouldn't be net zero, and NZ has giant offshore wind potential like UK.
Nz has already a large percentage of its electricity coming from renewables, something like 84% there is zero hope of petrol will be phased out faster than Europe it would be a brave Nz
Government that does that. There is a slow gain in EVs and Hybrids but you have to realise that nzs car fleet tends to be one of the oldest of the developed countries in the world.

I want to thank you for the simple fact that you did not spend millions developing an electric vehicle. There’s only one outcome to an electrified future in the automobile industry… guaranteed LOW T! I fear the future when people are comparing what model of plug socket ride they have… it will be like watching dudes debate which model of Dyson vacuum is the best…. Geeez! I don’t care how much is spent on marketing, how many fans you install so you can blow straw all over the Goodwood Track, or how many basement dwelling “influencers” get paid to act like they actually care about electric cars…. Electric cars are guaranteed to drop a man’s T by 99%.

Yeah you're going to get hit with a lawsuit by Nintendo and the gap between the wheels and wheel arches is insane. Either run a large gap or louvers not both. There's a reason no one else does it that way.

Poorly shot and edited video makes the Rodin seem superslow in comparison to lesser cars, including acceleration.
Agreed it's a bit all over the place editing wise. The wide shots rob the viewer of any sense of connection to the speed.
It probably is really slow, given that this is supposedly its first time on track.

I understand it's just a shakedown run, but you should have waited until you could go at least 9/10ths

You could have driven it around the paddock and got a better shake down. The idea here is to figure out whether you torqued all the bolts correctly, the welds aren't cracking, no leaks, etc., but you should have waited until *after* the check list was signed off and you were confident it could be driven 55 mph before posting video. This looks silly.
