@@chabweezy9905 yeah, that being said, you strap 2 jet engines to anything, it will be fast. The McLaren F1 was so fast, because it was light and aerodynamic. The logistics of a 5000 hp street car would be pretty amusing if they did build one. Imagine finding a straight & empty enough road & doing your 300 mph pull, then you immediately run out of gas & are due for a $100k tire change, if you can get it stopped in one piece
To be fair to the Vector, the early test cars weren’t ready & were released early with stipulations to deal with that. McEnroe, the famous tennis player, took one of them to show off to his friends & Vector warned him about not pushing it too hard before they could complete final assembly. What’d he do? Completely destroyed it, doing everything they told him not to, & prompting him to pull out of the deal very publicly, which severely impacted Vector’s reputation. It might have had its share of problems anyways, but due to them wanting to get them in the public eye early, they caused their own downfall. Still a badass car that managed to do ~220 which was crazy for the time.
One of the coolest looking Fiero V6 rare kit cars was the Scorpion. I almost bought a nearly completed one about 10 years ago. Man, did that thing look good! And if you turbo'd the stock v6, it would move out pretty good too.
There is one more thing to mention: to dissipate the residual heat from 5,000 hp, a piston engine would need as much radiator area as two diesel locomotives. The only thermal engine that could pack that much power into a package small enough to fit into a car would be a turboshaft, with the additional advantage of needing neither radiators nor a transmission - a 1-speed single ratio gear would be enough. But the car would not be able to carry enough fuel to even reach its top speed.
The biggest factor to overcoming a sustainable, safe, and easily repeatable 300mph top speed is the tires. The last time I checked (which was about a mon. ago) no one has been able to produce a tire that is practical, decent composition(as opposed to some crazy high-priced material dev'd by NASA) and reasonably priced that can safely withstand the centrifugal g-forces exerted on a tire at rotating at 300+mph. Which I believe they said was about 4500rpm at 290-300mph. That may be a little off but I'll have to go look it up again.
You should do a video on that car from the fast and furious movie up in that tall building, the one nobody has seen actually driving before. I've read it's basically the same story as this. Great video man, so glad I found your channel!
I tried telling people 5k hp is not streetable in any way years ago when it showed up. Between heat, it's thirsty engine, the fact it would only be able to carry enough fuel to drive conservatively maybe 90 miles. This wasn't hard to figure out. 😂
Never even heard of that. They definitely should make it for real, because then it wouldn't just be a competition between Koenigsegg and Bugatti, there'd be a third member of the hyper car party. The body looks like a cross between a Batmobile and a LeMans racer. It just looks absurdly fast. 2:39 that's a proper funny way of describing the obsession with top speed 😅😆 Thing is though, most high performance cars lose a shit load of power from exhaust heat. The Veyron for example, had something like 4000HP, but loses 3000 because of the exhaust, ridiculous... Wonderful video again fella. Surprised Devel didn't name the car Billet - A throwback to the iconic film, and due to those engine parts being manufactured mostly from those processes.
I have never heard someone refer to the W8 as vaporware. It performed excellently, but needed refinement and the bugs worked out. It had a successful 0-60 test of 4.1, extremely close to their claimed 3.9. There was never a top speed test, so the results are unknown, but Car and Driver estimated 218mph, which is absolutely phenomenal for the year. These two are not comparable and there are far better examples to use.
That is why methanol is the most common fuel for engines like what Steve Morris builds. Some people run alcohol, e85, and some race gas, but methanol cools the best and allows smaller radiators for street driving on pump gas where they only make a few psi of boost. A hypercar is certainly not the same as a purpose built drag and drive car. A 5000 hp drag and drive car is purely about function to go fast and then drive to the next track and while they can look nice, they are not wrapped up to look like the devil sixteen with no hardware showing.....more like a semitruck where you can see what actually gets the work done at that level. It isn't easy to hide all that stuff.
you see i prefer to say it took the bugatti over 20 years to beat the mclaren f1. shows the legendarity better than the 7 years it took them to build the veyron. the f1 is an absolute monster. nothing like it. no idea how it did all that with such low hp(for 240mph), with 3 FUCKING SEATS. and 90s tech.
And F1 also dubbed the "most reliable" supercar Bcs someone drove it 190+ on the autobahn (i believe it's a doctor) fron his house to the workplace, every day and didn't even break down, just a slight trouble that flashes the check engine light😅
I would’ve loved to see this car actually top speed testing & breaking records. The design is beautiful If I had the money I would’ve invested 100%. Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Ferrari, Hennessy etc. All had to start somewhere. Same people who say they love cars hated on this creation.

The only thermal engine that could pack that much power into a package small enough to fit into a car would be a turboshaft, with the additional advantage of needing neither radiators nor a transmission - a 1-speed single ratio gear would be enough. But the car would not be able to carry enough fuel to even reach its top speed.
You forgot to mention Devel's truck. It was also vapourware, but it did do a pass on a drag strip
Love your channel! Always has amazing content ❤thank you for what you do 💪
You should do a video on that car from the fast and furious movie up in that tall building, the one nobody has seen actually driving before.
Remember, common sense isn't common
The drag n drive guys will tell you why you're wrong
Never even heard of that. They definitely should make it for real, because then it wouldn't just be a competition between Koenigsegg and Bugatti, there'd be a third member of the hyper car party. The body looks like a cross between a Batmobile and a LeMans racer. It just looks absurdly fast.
2:39 that's a proper funny way of describing the obsession with top speed 😅😆
Thing is though, most high performance cars lose a shit load of power from exhaust heat. The Veyron for example, had something like 4000HP, but loses 3000 because of the exhaust, ridiculous...
Wonderful video again fella. Surprised Devel didn't name the car Billet - A throwback to the iconic film, and due to those engine parts being manufactured mostly from those processes.
If 'Supercar Blondie' &/or 'MoVlogs' promote something, be sceptical. The _one_ reputable thing from this saga was the Steve Morris engine.
*Babe, wake up! A new 337 Speed video dropped.*
Haha yez!
An engine that produces that much power also produces a lot of heat. Keeping it cool would be a massive engineering challenge all by itself.
Remember when the steering wheel looked like a toy??
So well written and researched. And witty as well
This kind of crap happens when marketing decides without asking engineers about it.
Your videos always make my day! Thanks so much for all the hard work!
The difference between vector and devel is that vector actually sold a few cars unlike devel
What happened to the V16 engine Steve Morris built?
Next video should be on W Motors Lykan Hypersport 😅

I been watching and subbed for a lil min now. Just gotta say this easily some of the best car content on the platform.
What is the point of driving a car at that speed?
If you have a death wish, then I guess it’s a good purchase.
The car looks like if Ferrari Pagani and Lamborghini all had a baby
video on time for the Bugatti Tourbillon
Love the content. Ur an amazing commentator with awesome footage and information
you see i prefer to say it took the bugatti over 20 years to beat the mclaren f1. shows the legendarity better than the 7 years it took them to build the veyron. the f1 is an absolute monster. nothing like it. no idea how it did all that with such low hp(for 240mph), with 3 FUCKING SEATS. and 90s tech.
And F1 also dubbed the "most reliable" supercar
Bcs someone drove it 190+ on the autobahn (i believe it's a doctor) fron his house to the workplace, every day and didn't even break down, just a slight trouble that flashes the check engine light😅

I would’ve loved to see this car actually top speed testing & breaking records. The design is beautiful
If I had the money I would’ve invested 100%. Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Ferrari, Hennessy etc. All had to start somewhere.
Same people who say they love cars hated on this creation.
And it was basically 2 LS’s put together by the GOAT STEVE MORRIS💀 my 13 year old self had no idea.
Hats off to you, sir.
I really enjoy watching your videos. They're informative, entertaining, well edited and your commentary ties everything together. It shows you have a passion and a knack for video essay/documentaries.
Amazing content. So we'll put together.
Thank you.
dam never been 46 seconds early
It's always a great refleif to see a video from this guy, seem to always learn something new. I always rembering being obsessed with this car as a kid and I'm glad it's still being tought about
😊Facts, Facts backed up with experience that no one can take away from you 337. Represent ✌🏾
Boy you are a great story teller. Love your vids. You put so much work into it and they are incredibly professional. Love it keep it up.
I’ll honest the top speed and acceleration war is over. Has been for years. I’d say the last 4 years.
God damn dude, I just love your videos so much. Thanks for posting.
If I remember correctly the v16 that they built was two ls motors that were fused together the engine itself would have been promising but at the end of the day the car and engine were both vaporware
May God bless and keep you alive!! The information you create is just excellent. The way you speak and explain is so unique. I truly appreciate the time and work you take to make these videos compared to other youtubers out here. Continue making videos like this. ❤❤💯💯💫
It's all made up pipe dreams. No car that has that poor quality and engineering is gonna beat the likes of Bugatti and McLaren.
Awesome video!
A new 337 video came up… today is a good day!
Bro the production of this vid is amazing, keep it up!

Great video and incredible editing.
I wish this car was real, it doesn't even need to go the insane 350 mph target
It just needed to go fast and look good doing it and it would've been good in my book
I just love those hypercar explanations...you are a king...amd love those Bugatti's what a masterpiece
Man, props for making this understandable for the less knowledgeable car guys. I've learned a lot from your videos. 👏
Can you please do a video on the ford 427 cammer engine?
I used to follow the Devel 16 story for a bit, from my limited knowledge this video right here is the most in depth video on the Devel 16, my only criticisim is that the cars interior wasn't mentioned (it's literally just a C8 Corvette interior)
This car always looked to me like a SL-C. They added some body work, but overall SL-C. Now it makes more sense. An SL-C with a C8 drivetrain makes it fairly easy to build.
Love this channel and you have such a great speaking voice. Keep it up man!
Great video dude....👍 captured everyones curiosity and head scratching over the years, as to how overly ambitious this Devel 16 car was. Any youtube endorsement is also bollox imo and illegitimate to petrolheads. Its funny though, that now we do have a production V16 and Bugatti have made it. 🤘🤣👍☠💨
