i own a fz09 2015, and let me tell you, i wheelie from 1st gear to 5th gear. on mode A wheelie comes up extremelly easy from 1st to 3rd. my prefered gear is 4th at around 50mph pop clutch and up is the front wheel with easy. i can also wheelie on 5th gear at around 70mph seating far back but still comes up. my point is, this is a WHEELIE MONSTER! IT HAS ENOUGH TORQUE TO WHEELIE ALMOST ALL GEARS. try it! let me know.
First of all let me say that I enjoyed your review. As a FZ-09 owner myself I can attest that the seat is just as horrible as you have experienced in your short ride. I have enjoyed it thoroughly for everything from touring to aggressive riding. I find it interesting that you say it does not have enough power/torque to wheelie in second. And then you go on to say it doesn't have as much torque as an R6, R1, or FJR. I am quite certain that the R6 has a fair bit less torque at ALL rpm. Yes it is true that the R1 has more torque, i cant argue with that cross plane beast. As for the FJR I wont comment since you are an owner of one, but I think they are quite portly and I have no doubt that the FZ lifts the front wheel easier. This bike will pull the wheel in third with the slightest persuasion (lightly pulling up on the bars). Second and first cause accidental wheelies. It seems from the video that you liked to keep it around 4-5k. That is the rpm I cruise at but if you are looking for fun you need to hit 6K+ (where the gauge goes from angle to level). Its an awesomely smooth power band. Another thing, A mode is quick turn response where full throttle comes on sooner. Standard is full power at full turn. B is reduced timing and a change in fuel map. It makes less power than the other two., (also the FJ-09 is slightly detuned from the FZ so its engine performance is not identical)
Thanks for the comments. As far as the power goes it's this simple. I'm a big guy. The fz did not come up in 2nd with me on it. The fjr (and others) does :)
+TwoWheelObsession maybe you dnt knbow how to wheelie the fz09 the right way. on b mode i wheelie all the way to third gear. this bike wheelies so easy i find it hard to believe you cant wheelie on 2nd...... you are not doing something right. great review by the way.
Let me try this again! Autocomplete bit me in the rear on the comment I tried to post! I test rode an FZ 09 and an FJR 1300 on the same day back in 2014. I surprisingly found myself more comfortable on the FZ09. my five foot six stature may have been part of that. At that time they told me they were working on an FJ version so I waited till this year to buy. but I ended up buying an FJR 1300 instead because the FJ version was still chain drive. I know for many that's not an issue but for me it's a deal breaker. Oh and even with my 220 pounds on there power wheelies in 1st and 2nd or no problem. The first one was of course accidental, but after that well, you know...... Enjoy your videos, keep them coming
Dude my MT comes up in 2nd and third , you have to get it in the right part of the rev range , its torque is higher than an R6 and power comes in sooner , I can wheelie mine in 4th , to be honest that ride you did was at a slow pace so you cant give a realistic review on the power going behind that cruiser, you need to rev the bike its power is linear up to 10500 theres no point just blipping it when the engine isn't even in the power curve.
Were you born a turd , or did you work real hard to become one ? I've been riding for 40 years, who the fuck was talking about cornering you stupid fuck ! You probably don't even have a bike you fucking waste of life..
Thanks--appreciate all the commentary--thanks for no music during your ride ; - ) I'm riding a 2006 Ninja 500 now so this would be a nice upgrade for this old man. Dad bought me a Kawie 400 triple when I was 14 so I have been trying to get back to 3 for years : - ) Miss my old two-stroke
+rrrider46 North America, FZ model doesn't get all goodies the MT version gets. No TC, no ABS. Just the three modes and somewhat inadequate adjustable suspension for heavier people. I'm 6' tall and 175 lbs, so that's not an issue for me. The ABS for both the 07 and 09 are however.
I own a 2015 fz09.... I'm 6 foot 200 lbs. ... this beast has more than enough torque for the front wheel to come up in 1st through 4th gear (3rd and 4th need a little help from the clutch) and the front brakes grab like mad. wheelies or stoppies this bike is a stunt machine.... will out do a 600 SS.... and is just a dark horse winner from yamaha.
i TESTED THE 2014 FZ09 and the 2015 FZ09 and I weigh about 220 and in the A mode if I gave it gas the front end would go up easily in 1st,2nd,and 3rd.I think because your another 30 pounds thats why its not going north to the sky.If you gave it alot of throttle it would go north to wheelie land. The new cool bike with ABS,Traction Control and a cool color scheme is the XSR900.Same as the FZ09 but it has a higher seat height and the pegs are more forward and it has a retro circular headlight and tail light.I sat on one at the Long Beach convention Center Motorcycle show 11/21/2015.It weighs 430 pounds wet as the FZ09 weighs 414.For me I like the FZ09 or the FJ09.
Stock these are faster than any stock fj 09.....fz09 = 414lbs, fj09 = 462lbs, same gearing, motor and tuning. Every magizine has faster test times on the fz 09....Mine will lift the front in the first three gears under hard acceleration. Clutch ups in third no problem, second it's a wheelie machine, first is only good for about half throttle or your flipping it.
You can't really expect it to power wheelie in 2nd when A: you're a heavy guy B: you weren't in the right rpm range C: your posture is over the front wheel. If all those elements were corrected, theoretically that bike should be able to power wheelie in 3rd or even forth. My R1200 power wheelies in 2nd no problem and it's way heavier than the FZ09.
+Sergio Diaz I have both and honestly I can tell you that the FZ does not replace my supermoto when I feel like going into a turn as fast as I can. I love my FZ09 but I still cannot stop smiling when I'm on my SM. The problem with the SM is, for me it's only good for under an hour at a time and there is no good cruising speed. Let me put it this way, when I want to go screw off for an hour I will take the SM. If I want to go for a motorcycle ride I will take the FZ.
I'm really desperate . I need help with this. I have a 2005 Suzuki boulevard c50. I can't get it to run right. I've done everything I can think of,but nothing is running. I have done::: a tune-up flushed and cleaned fuel tank and line. new injectors new battery check throttle position sensor the computer says that there is nothing wrong. but it doesn't run right. the engine rpm's fluctuate up and down. it acts like it's starving for fuel. and it doesn't have enough power to take off I 1st gear. can anyone help me PLEASE?
Late comment, but I'm planning to buy one used with 6500km. I'm 6'3 220 lbs. how was your feeling about your size on this bike ? Comfortable for long rides ?
@@YaboyCurtis_ I got mine sinze april 2020. I got my seat padded by a professionnal to make it more comfortable. I'm planning to switch to something like a kawasaki versys 1000 because I love long rides and it's driving position is way more natural for tall riders.
Great review! Been looking at the 2015 or the Speed Triple. So far the FZ-09 has it on price but I am hearing the suspension, fit and finish has nothing on the triple. There is no traction control. Mode B just reduces power. Also it really starts pulling at 7k rpm and there is no way that the fj wheelies better than this bike weighing 60 pounds more with less power

Lmao, fz09 will wheelie in 3rd easy. Use the rmps
